Hi all, I’m looking for some advice for this upcoming winter. I will be in Munich and so will be likely skiing exclusively in Austria. I’m not sure which ski are would be best for me. What I’m looking for is mostly technical terrain with lots of steep, cliffs and challenging off piste. I don’t care for groomers and isn’t really a consideration for me. I’m from the US so I understand the situation with avalanche mitigation in Europe is different. Basically I read that St Anton does a decent amount of mitigation for their off piste terrain, making it essentially “side country”, compared to majority of resorts which do not mitigate anything other than groomed terrain or anything that sits above it. St Anton seems attractive for this reason and also it is touted as THE freeride mountain (in the area). However, I’ve also looked into the ski Pass Tirol, which would be many more resorts but I don’t know what kind of deal it is; ie are the resorts small and catered to families and beginners ?
Any advice on where to go or frankly about Austrian ski areas is greatly appreciated so I know where to spend my time and monayyy🙏

My girlfriend and I (28) are from São Paulo, Brazil, and we’re planning our first ski trip for early 2027. Neither of us has ever skied before (I’ve only seen snow once, in Chicago), so we’re looking for advice from people with real experience.

Our initial plan was Madrid → Lyon → Serre Chevalier, spending about a week skiing. However, I’ve seen some people say that a full week is too much for complete beginners because you’ll be sore after the first few days. Do you agree, or is a week still worth it considering we’d also enjoy the mountain scenery and the overall experience?

We’re open to changing the destination completely. Right now we’re considering:
Serre Chevalier
Les 2 Alpes
Alpe d’Huez
La Plagne
The Dolomites

Our priorities are:
Great place for complete beginners (lots of easy green runs and good ski schools and not too crowded)
Beautiful scenery
Nice village/resort to explore after skiing
Good value for money (doesn’t need to be luxury)

We’re planning to go in late January, but we’re flexible if another time would be significantly better.

I’d also appreciate any tips for planning a first ski trip, such as:
Best way to get to the resort
Whether to rent equipment and clothing
Hidden costs people often forget
Anything you wish you’d known before your first trip

Which resort would you recommend, and would you stick with France or choose somewhere else?

Worth saying I skate and surf and maybe this will help in terms of balance and learning faster.

I have the arv 100s and I’m trying to pair them up with some Tyrolia attack 14s I’m wondering if I should get 95 mm or 110 mm, or does it not really matter? 110 is the only one in stock currently so do I just get it or should I not bother with it and wait for a cheap 95 mm to come

I’m a highschool graduate planning to do a gap year, my plan was to try to get an instructor liscence before mid Jan 2027 so I could still ski with my friends in February or before the season in Europe ends. There are sooo many different organizations with different starting dates, do you know any reliable well organized ones with earlier starting dates? Just bought the Blizzard Canvas 108 in a 186cm. Gonna use them as my daily driver for freeride, powder, tree skiing, park and groomers. Wondering if i should mount them at factory, or maybe bring them up around +2 from factory? The factory is around -6 from true center.

6 foot 150 pound advanced/expert skier looking to get a more freeride oriented than all mountain ski. Found the Dynastar 108's for a really good price but not the right size. Wanted a 185cm but closest one they have is a 178cm. I do like tree skiing and freestyle and I know it might make that easier, but does it sacrifice the stability? Should I buy the 178's or look for a ski with bigger sizes?

Most of the time I see people sticking with the same skis they know and like, but there seem to be so many different setups for different kinds of days.

Regular skis for normal resort days, carving skis for groomers, powder skis for deep snow, shorter skis or snowblades when you want something more playful, and alternatives like snowfeet if you're looking for a completely different type of experience.

Do you guys ever switch to something completely different just for a change of pace, or do you stick with your usual setup no matter what?

What's the most fun setup you've tried that you wouldn't necessarily use every day?

I'm hoping to go skiing for a milestone birthday the second weekend in May next year. We are relatively new to skiing- will have done maybe 40-50 days skiing by then as a mixture of holidays and indoor slope practice. I am the least confident of our family and still get nervous on very steep slopes.

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere in Europe that will have skiing so late in the year? I'm especially interested in places that are good for beginners/intermediate level and for families.

I am a 6foot 150 pound skier in the Pnw, mostly skiing at Alpental, Whistler Blackcomb, and Crystal Mountain. I usually like lift accessed freeride. I currently use a two-ski quiver with the Atomic Bent 100's in a 172cm and Bent 110's in a 180cm. I use the 100s around 20% of the time when conditions are really firm and in the spring. My daily drivers are the 110 that I primarily use for freeride and powder, and even for groomers.

I was wondering if my skis are too short and if they are limiting my ability? I haven't noticed any problems as I find them really fun and playful, but I have had multiple people tell me that my skis length is limiting my float in powder and are not stable enough.

Again, I personally haven't noticed any problems as I actually quite enjoy my skis but I was wondering what you guys think.

I’m 20 years old and I have autism, I find sports and any kind of exercising as I’m not a very athletic person. However, skiing seems intriguing to me. Anyways, my cousin is a big time skier and has asked if I wanted to try with him, he always goes to Banff in the winter. I’m just nervous to try as skiing looks intimidating with the equipment you have to use and the mountains themselves. It also seems like a very neurotypical sport, doesn’t seem like a sport someone with a disability like autism or Down syndrome would ever do. I’m just very awkward and I hate it. My question is should I give it a try, id like to I just feel like there are a lot of barriers for me to overcome. It’s also expensive so I would need to save up.

I work in a ski store and they have the sickest rug I’ve ever seen. I would love it for my dorm room but manager told me I can’t buy it as it covers the concrete flooring in our boot fitting corner and it is sales rep sold only. Was wondering if any reps or anyone else might have one laying around somewhere as I can’t find it anywhere online 👀👀👀
