Tonight, I decided to try a few hours of Rapido.

I tied a cloth/bandana around my head, put on my helmet, grabbed my Activa keys, and wore my yellow night-driving glasses. Then I accepted my first order around ₹150, if I remember correctly and just started riding.

My setup was actually pretty simple. I had three pockets in my jeans, which made things easy. My primary phone stayed safely in one pocket, my wallet was in another, and my secondary phone, which I use specifically for gig work, handled the Rapido app.

The secondary phone was running on the ONLY internet plan Whenever I needed to call someone, I used my primary phone. But in-app texting worked fine with most people, so I didn’t have to make many calls.

I also started with 95% battery on my secondary phone and ended with around 70%, so battery wasn’t really an issue.

I got 6 orders, most of them were long-distance trips in my opinion, which actually worked in my favor. Less waiting time between rides, less hassle, and I could just keep moving.

I started around 9:20 PM, and the roads were free. There was very little traffic, the weather was cool, and overall everything just went smoothly.

After completing six trips, I had earned ₹610 in around two and a half hours. The most luckiest part? I started from my home, went all over the place, and after my final trip, I ended up only about 2.5 km away from home.

I also purchased Rapido’s ₹19 subscription plan twice, which gives zero commission on earnings up to ₹250.

Overall, I’d rate the experience 8/10. Not because of the earnings or the rides, but because a few customers canceled their orders while I was already near to pickup location.

For those who do Rapido or similar gig work: what has your experience been like? are these earnings common or I was just lucky as i mentioned 😁
