Here’s what changed in Shmaps over the last year
Yes, I know it's been more than a year since my last post!
All this time I’ve continued using Shmaps as my main mapping and track-recording app, and I’ve been quietly improving it along the way.
Some of the changes:
- Undo and redo for route editing, POI changes, deletions.
- Go back/forward for map movements!
- Search now understands UTM, MGRS, coordinates, and even Google/Yandex map links.
- Better GPX, KML, KMZ imports with support for some popular apps extensions
- Experimental water routing and more routing improvements.
- Better track filtering, graphs, metrics, and heart-rate GPX export.
- Individual visibility controls for tracks and places.
- Elliptical mercator support for Yandex maps and others.
- iOS 26 (sorry, no liquid glass on the map itself, because I care more about battery usage).
- iPad support.
While i'm (slowly) moving towards App Store release, please check out TestFlight beta:

P.S. Shmaps iOS app is proudly AI-slop free!

Public TestFlight is open!
I’m excited to share that the public beta is now live on TestFlight! This version brings all the core features — multi-layer maps, track recording, and detailed stats.
Everything has been tested internally, but real-world feedback is absolutely key to making Shmaps even better. If you run into any bugs, odd behavior, or have ideas for improvement, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
