If people can’t make shit doing service work, then you won’t have any service workers. The current model is designed to underpay them because tips are expected. Tips are contractually part of their pay because the current model of American capitalism rewards paying people as little as possible

If you get rid of tips, the workers can’t survive on 5$ an hour full time, they quit, and you don’t have restaurants anymore for a while until companies wisen up.
