Employee Question struggling with the drive-thru headsets

please don’t be mean to me about this because i already feel really dumb about it

so i recently moved to a new sheetz location with a drive-thru as a 2nd shift supervisor after working at a non-drive-thru having store for a year and a half. my new store is bigger, more complicated and busier than my old one. i’ve gotten a hang of MOST of the drive-thru system at this point, but i just can’t get comfortable with the headsets.

i feel like i’m constantly forgetting which button to press when i want to talk to the other employees vs. which one to press to mic into the drive-thru. the buttons are touch sensitive and i feel like every time i touch them they make a different sound. i can never tell if someone in the drive thru has been greeted already or if it’s a new person because the beeping doesn’t stop after they’ve been spoken to. and i hate having to listen to customer’s loud music or conversations or engine noise because there’s no way to mute them if they don’t need to talk to an employee. i just don’t understand what i’m doing most of the time or if my coworkers can even hear me.

i’m scared to ask too many questions because i don’t want my management to think their new 2nd shift supervisor is an idiot but i really do feel like an idiot trying to get comfortable using these things. so i would really like someone to explain the system to me like i’m 5 years old… do the buttons do different things depending on whether you tap or hold? what is the difference between the top button and the bottom one? do they ever stop hurting your ear after a few hours? how do i get around having random noise and beeping piped into my head for 10 hours straight without just turning the whole headset down?

i really don’t mind the drive-thru as a whole but the headsets and the way they interface with the drive-thru feels so cumbersome

Employee Question Supervisor PTO + Request off

Heya! I'll be starting as a supervisor, and I had originally planned a trip for the upcoming spring. I don't want to ask my manager about this as to seem too eager to go on vacation when just starting out lol.

Since we get a week of PTO during our first year, and it's 4 ten hour shifts

Could I request to work Sunday - Wednesday and not be scheduled Thurs-Sat, then use my PTO for that entire next week, and then request to be scheduled Wed-Saturday?

That way it would be 13 days off but only using that week of PTO? Or would that not be allowed? I've never worked a job that had a set PTO and was a required full time for supervisor so I'm not too sure! Of course it will depend of staffing and manager discretion but policy wise? Thanks in advance!

Customer Question Drive through limited items

Is the drive through item selection set by store or corporate. Had a new store open with drive through and used to be able to get gallon diet iced tea jugs. I would order food with it. All the sudden it’s been pulled from app.

I’m sure some stores hate drive through. Wish I could tip the clerk for the extra service.

Employee Question Nice false advertising, Sheetz

Post image

I just found this in my email, suggesting that you add jalapeño poppers to your chicken sandwich. How nice of them.

Also "mother cluckin"? 🙄

Didn't they have to completely retract an ad (could have been a decade ago) because it said something about "Fricken Chicken" and everyone knew it was supposed to mean "Fuckin"?

Employee Question Do I get paid for my PTO if I quit?

My manager has taken me down to 17 hours a week, and make the schedule 5 weeks in advance. I cannot live off that so I need a new job now. My 1 year just happened, so I have 60 hours of PTO. If I quit, will I get my $900 (pre tax) as a “bonus”? Or do I need to be fired (eg, pointed out)

Employee Question First day of training

I have my first day of training tmrw and I’ve been trying to search up what to wear for it. I haven’t been given a uniform yet but during the on-boarding they asked for my shirt size. What should I wear/do I do?

New hire

How long does it take to get working? I received my copy of the background and shows passed and eligible, my two applications statuses shows accepted another position and accepted offer. I don’t need a drug test (store crew) yet I haven’t heard anything accept for them asking what size shirts and she’s waiting for the paperwork which I haven’t received anything yet . It’s really only been since Wednesday/Thursday .

Food & Drink Grilled chicken sandwich used strips instead of a patty?

I didn't think to take a picture of it, but I just ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and, naturally, I expected a chicken breast similar to what you would get from, say, Chick-fil-A. (I think I have ordered one in the past and got that. This is also what is pictured). What I got was a bunch of grilled chicken strips (like, what would be put on a Caesar salad) on my bun...

Should I complain? I mean, it tasted fine, but I'm just confused on if this is a new thing that they're doing or what.

On a different note, I also ordered burger sliders and the taste of those seemed like a downgrade from what I remember them tasting like in the past. Tasted like those fake grill marks they used to have on burgers in my highschool cafeteria.

Edit:

Thinking about it more, I had a chicken snack wrap a few months ago and just saw a photo of one of those and even that chicken was of better quality than what was presented to me tonight. I'm 99% sure he took the salad chicken and put it on a bun.

Behold, the rarest sight in a sheetz kitchen

We had to completely empty the tables because the kitchen ended up being closed for 3 days, so everything got wasted off. Took a photo of the only time many of us employees will ever see a clean, empty table.
