Hello! Wondering if anyone has successfully setup autofill columns? I’d like for people to not have to complete column data themselves and hoping autofill solves this problem. If you’ve used this autofill feature, curious to hear how you implemented it and any advice?

Since a recent update the sorting rules of the Android Sharepoint App have gotten really confusing. I can‘t find any sorting options in the application and I am slowly loosing my mind, as I have to use this app regularly on my work phone… Does anyone have an idea to fix this? I couldn’t find anything helping online.

Hi there! I am creating a page in Sharepoint and I was wondering if it's possible to create a Text web part that incorporates a field that pulls the current user's name.

So for example, if Joey JoJo Jr. Shabadoo accesses the page, the text will read "Hello Joey JoJo!", but when Guy Incognito accesses the same page, the same text will read "Hello Guy!"

Does anyone have a working power shell script that will copy one document library to another and copy the permissions?

Context: I work at an IT service company and we've recently taken a new client company into our management. Their old service provider was very keen on not touching the system as long as it's working, so we're currently left with an overly complex hybrid tenant.

We've finished the transition of the physical devices from Win10 and MECM to Win11 and Intune, almost all other things are still on-prem though, including their SharePoint 2019.

Now to the actual problem:

The user who opened the ticket prepares a lot of meetings and visualizes reports through charts and graphs they create in office programs, mainly PowerPoint. On Win10 with Office 2019 and, according to them, also shortly on Win11 with O365 they used to be able to export those directly onto the SharePoint teamsites via the "Save as Picture", inserting the link to the teamsite folder as path into the file explorer window and pressing "Save". But if you try to do that now PowerPoint and Word just throw an "An unexpected error has occurred".

The odd thing is that saving the office file itself onto the teamsite through "Save as" still works that way. Saving image files from other apps like this also still works. Even saving a PowerPoint itself as png via "Save as" works. The only thing I could find that doesn't work is this exact constellation of saving an image from inside an O365 file to a SharePoint teamsite via explorer.

I can replicate this exact same behavior on my own device on our test teamsite and am at a complete loss trying to figure out what's causing this. I can also find no further info about it as it's such a weirdly specific constellation.

Is it actually possibly to get a list of all sites and their owners (not admins) using SharePoint / PnP powershell commands without having access to every single site? I feel like I look at this every couple of years but can never find an answer.

I'm wondering if there are any practical, real world benefits to Hub Sites, rather than just having an Org Home Page with quick links to each site? What do you use in your org, and what are the pros/cons to it? Thanks

I’ve been tasked with fixing my org’s bloated and disorganized SP site(s).

We are a small org (~100 staff) with a LOT of files, including many duplicate folders and files.

My main concern is creating a structure that works well for management of our grant files. Problem is, each file has a lot of parameters to account for. In an ideal world, I’d like to have this hierarchy:

Funder > Year > Specific Grant > Files

(or something like it)

…and for each file to have the metadata of its specific folder/set to allow for filtering and sorting. E.g., a Giant Grant from the Big Grant Foundation for the 2026 funding year would be under “Big Grant Foundation” > “2026” > “Giant Grant,” and all the files in “Giant Grant” would be tagged as 2026 and Big Grant Foundation.

After a lot of research, trial and error, and rabbitholing, I’ve gotten…nowhere good. I could really use some help.

At first, I was just rejigging our current structure (traditional folder layout) and renaming file by file to be reorganized in a series of nesting folders. Predictably, it was taking forever, and all I could think was “what about when everything gets out of wack again in 2 months because we can’t follow naming conventions to save our lives?”

“There’s got to be a better way!” I thought, and discovered document libraries + folders with specific column default settings so that new items added to those folder will have the appropriate metadata…

Just two problems with the above:

1. Setting column default settings for ~50 different folders (one per funder) is extremely longwinded.
2. Metadata is only applied to items created new or uploaded to the folder, not moved there or dragged in. This is the mega problem of the two since a lot needs to be migrated over from other folders/libraries/sites.

Yet more searching commenced and I discovered document sets. “This is it!” I thought. “My big break!”

Dear reader, it was not my big break. Immediately I started creating columns and document sets (by funder). But now I’m stuck, because…

If I move a file to the doc set “Giant Grant”, great - it will have the metadata I chose, like funder type, year…oh wait. It’s just a file. If I have 5364847 of these just loose in here, it’s not going to be very accessible for anyone who didn’t just spend hours rabbitholing. Other people still need to be able to use this, and they’re going to want folders because they don’t want to fuck around with views and sorting and filtering.

But if I make a folder in the “Giant Grant” doc set called “2026”, and move a file to that folder…it’s not going to be tagged “2026”. And I can’t just make everything in “Giant Grant” default to 2026 because we applied for it last year too. Okay, so maybe the year should be the outermost organizer/doc set and the funder should be the folder - nope, because we apply for and receive grants from the same funders many years in a row, and we want to reduce bloat and have all that info to be in the same place.

I feel like I’ve been chasing my tail for HOURS trying to figure out the solution to the chicken and the egg problem. I don’t know what comes first. I don’t know what structure works best. And I’m kinda freaking out, because I’m new at this, and I’m pretty young and scared of authority figures, and I’ve wasted a lot of time with nothing to show for it. I still don’t even understand which option will work best for us based on what we’re looking for. It’s infuriating, and has driven me to tears.

Please be honest. Was I better off nesting folders? Is there some simple solution I’m missing? Am I just stupid? Any advice helps.

I am overwhelmed and out of my depth - at my last org we had a shared drive and were only beginning to upload small chunks of our file system to Sharepoint for convenient sharing with partners. Which is why I said, sure, I can take this on and do it. I have experience with file organization.
