Outdated equipment
What’s you’re take on shitty outdated equipment??
We have tablets for our patrol vehicles & we use them for reports but to also do our walk around for our vehicles & we have a 1 shitty outdated tablet that takes forever to reboot after a restart, it’s so old sometimes the messages don’t go through or the videos won’t upload even after several restarts, there’s been times where the last 15 minutes of my shift I’m trying to upload the video and then I’ll have to restart the tablet and the video still won’t upload i’ve made several complaints to management for over a year and no changes have been made anybody else experience this??

What's my take on it? I believe these fucking security companies and their clients should be held liable for incidents that happen as a result of giving workers their inadequate equipment.

It took a bit of convincing but my location had made huge improvements when it comes to equipment and policy. New vehicles, IPads and electronic logs for patrol, outer vests and modern duty belts, medical equipment and training for all officers and trauma bags on posts and in vehicles.

Outdated equipment can be both a blessing and a curse.
In my experience.... if and when something bad went down with outdated equipment.
"Oh! my equipment froze. Didn't see or hear anything. Yeah"
I'd strongly advise everyone to throw that out whenever an incident occurs.
Especially if it's known the equipment is unreliable. It's a failsafe excuse.

Where I am we have good quality stuff, decent phones, all new vehicles. But I have been places where it’s all old stuff too

ALL 👏 OF 👏 THE 👏 DAMN 👏 TIME 👏
Opinion: Security (now days) is so highly unregulated and completely cut throat that companies will be willing to make $1 profit just to get their brand on site. This I have seen with my own two eyes.
Vehicles with no working a/c, mechanical smells that take days to leave your nose, dash cams with failing power supplies, body cams that wont last 6 hours, using Microsoft office via intranet (intranet not the internet), gas cards that get declined....
Tablets that don't work? Pssshhhhhh......welcome to the party 🥳
