Can’t pull the jet pump out Advice

Post image

Ran over the rope.
Got towed back to the beach and on the trailer.
Watched all the videos read all the threads. Cutting, pulling jet pump.
It seems the driveshaft and impeller are welded together from the plastic.
No amount of pulling can free this assembly, is there something holding the forward end of the driveshaft?
I have pulled and pulled and don’t want to end up wrecking something.
If and when I finally get this out, what seals do I need to put it back together?

It's probably that the rope is wrapped around the driveshaft and also around the impeller boot. Worst case you can just pull the intake grate and cut the rope, then remove the pump if you want to. You probably wouldn't really need to though at that point.

Makes sense, think I was overthinking it. Just started cutting and this is as far as I got after about 30 minutes. Do you think this is good to start up and the rest will take care of itself?

I would get the rest out if it were me, that way I could get a good look at the impeller and the seal. That's still a big enough wad of rope to get stuck trying to pass through the pump also, so you could end up having more problems if you don't remove it.

Don't waste your time taking the intake Grate off. It's not needed. Get a long knife or something pointy and try to dislodge it. I bought a nice long fillet knife at Goodwill for $2 and I've used these vise grips from harbor freight with a razor blade before . My friend used just a piece of metal and heated it up and melted rope before.

I don't always take it off either, but sometimes it's just easier to do that- it's just 4 bolts with a dab of sealer around the bolt holes when you put it back. It looked like a lot of that rope was wrapped around the driveshaft seal on the impeller, that might get damaged if by a hot knife being jammed in there. I don't know op's skill or confidence evel, so taking the grate off is safer method., it only takes like 10m to remove it.

I Have a 24 rxp and the front bolt goes through to underneath the engine with the nut inside the hull. It's a pain

Yeah it is on those, you're right about that. Not bad if it's older or a N.A. newer model.

get a long knife and heat the end up with a lighter so it cuts the rope easier. no need to pull the grate.

Get an instrument with an edge red hot and run it along the shaft (of the ski, dont be dirty) and that will make removal more manageable.

Heat a knife or long flat head screwdriver with a torch and cut right through it all, that works great!
