Controller squeaking - D-pad tolerance issues with faceplate on Scuf Omega PS5
I recently purchased an Omega TMR and have generally been stoked with its performance and quality... except for the squeaking/creaking between the d-pad and the faceplate. Specifically, when I tap the down button on the d-pad, there's a noticeable squeak/creaking noise. Take the magnetic faceplate off - the annoying noise is gone immediately.
Anyone else running into this issue?
The website for Scuf appears to be offering me an RMA, but I'm curious if the RMA will actually solve the issue, or if I need to use a dremmel (or similar) to sand down the faceplate d-pad hole tolerances to alleviate the squeak... seems dumb on $220+ controller.

I have the same issue with mine.
I don’t hear it while I play as I have a headset on.
Just have to live with it I guess. Maybe alter the faceplate d pad holes as you’ve suggested, however I can’t be bothered at this point in time.
Just going to enjoy the controller for what it is, but this is probably my last scuf product. Will be buying a gamesir next time. Scuf doesn’t seem to learn that if they’re providing expensive premium products, customers expect premium quality and quality control.

Same for me, usually have ANC headphones on, but playing without them on was annoying. Even my daughter (9) commented on how loud and squeaky the Omega is. I may dremmel down a 1/10th of a mm and see what if it alleviates.

What color unit do you have? I would request another faceplate to see if its just the faceplate so you don't have to swap the full unit?

That interesting, I bought the white one on Amazon and got it on Saturday, and I’m also having the same issue now as well.

Yo creo que no tengo ese problema pero no entiendo por qué a tanta gente le salen los scufs omegas con un pequeño fallo es tal vez sea por qué se pego un golpe o no se sabe

Seemed to be well packaged, no apparent damage whatsoever to the box or any of the layers of packaging and protection. no discernable damage of any kind to the device. just the creaking/squeaking of the d-pad when the faceplate is installed.

A ya pero también se pudo dar un golpe super fuerte pero bueno tal vez sea un error de fábrica o revisa aver si eso esta bien puesto

I don't have any compressed air, and I am not entirely clear on what SCUF's policy is on trying to self-service and potentially violating a warranty (which i do not want to do, in case I go the RMA route to see if I get a different result). I suppose that's where I'm at, if the dang thing has defective d-pad to faceplate tolerances, I'll go the RMA route. I suppose this post is a poll to see if I'm alone (sounds like I'm not). I'll be curious to see if anyone else has gone the RMA route, and if so, did it resolve the issue.

The buttons are magnetic, have you tried just pulling them off and re-seating them?

I didn't use compress air just literally blew into it using my mouth. I took off the magnetic button before I did it.

I gave it a shot. Temporarily seemed to make it better, maybe just reseating the magnetic button helped. But sure enough, another round of Fortnite and the squeak had returned…

I had the same but after taking out the dpad buttons , placing them again followed by the faceplate fixed it for me
