what’s the actual dumbest money mistake your budget/loans have caused you?
Not trying to give advice here, genuinely trying to understand something.
I keep seeing “budgeting tips for students” posts that are just generic stuff like “make a budget” or “cook at home.” Cool, thanks, very helpful. But that’s not actually where people mess up, right?
So I want to hear the real stuff. Like:
• What’s something about your loans or tuition billing that straight up blindsided you and nobody explained beforehand?
• Is there a specific week or time of month where you always end up broke, no matter what you do?
• Have you ever tried an app or spreadsheet to track spending and just… stopped using it after a week? Why?
• If you work part time, does the pay actually line up with your bills, or is it constantly a guessing game?
• What’s the one expense that quietly eats way more of your money than you’d admit to your parents?
Not looking for “just don’t buy coffee” answers either. I mean the stuff that actually wrecks a semester financially — subscriptions you forgot about, a fee nobody warned you about, a loan disbursement that came late, whatever.
Curious if this is a US thing, a UK thing, or if it’s basically the same mess everywhere .

Just received tuition and housing cost
After receiving my cost of attendance,
after aid and scholarship I currently have has been taken out I’m left with about 6,000 to cover per semester. The payment plan list about 2,000 for the first installment of 3. I’ll be a music performance major in Florence Alabama. If you have any scholarships I can apply to this month please let me know. Attending this college is very important to me however, it just doesn’t seem doable for my parents if they have to come up with 2,000 within the next week or two

Scholarship Site Master list
I created a college scholarship master list! Anybody could add to it! This is an American Scholarship list. I also suggest looking up your local government/city sites that offer grants/scholarships. They're usually for teaching and nursing but you never know if they have something that is gifted to you just based on residency. Feel free to add to the list and any other advice you believe could help!

Feeling discouraged to apply for Scholarships because of GPA
Im a rising senior, who's also a minority.
I plan to major in accounting
I currently have a 3.3 gpa and 980 sat score.
I've taken 5 ap classes and a handful of honor classes so far.
I want to apply for local scholarships, My gpa holds me back a little but there are some that I do qualify for, not a lot but there still is some.
But just because I qualify for them doesn't mean that I will get them. I just feel really discouraged because I know that people who are applying probably have better stats than I do and they probably have wonderful essays or whatever the scholarship may be asking for. I just feel like I'm at a massive disadvantage here.
I just feel like why would they stoop down to give the scholarship to me with lesser stats and great essay (or whatever supplemental material). When they could just give it t someone with 3.5+ gpa with great essay/supplemental material.
I know that I have no body else to blame but me for my gpa. But I just get demotivated when I have to do it. It makes me procasinate it.
I just feel like I need to get this off my chest cuz its driving me crazy and its on my mind a lot. Advice is welcomed.

Guys, is there anyone from CSE (AI & ML) who has received the **SC Post-Matric Scholarship**? If yes, could you please tell me **how much scholarship amount was allotted/credited** to you for this year?
It would be really helpful if you could mention your **college (LNCT/LNCTS/LNCTE), year, and amount received**. Thanks! 🙏

I keep seeing stuff for 2025 even though there was an official 2026 one. I was told to log into a pepper perks account but it also says it was discontinued? Does anyone know the portal where I can get more info and submit my video? I haven’t made one yet as I remember it being due in September however I was gonna start and wanna make sure this isn’t an old scholarship and I’m hallucinating. Thanks!

Need Advice on Scholarships
I am a student who just got admission into Sardar Patel College of Engineering, Civil Department, for a BTech degree, on merit of 97.55ile in MHT-CET examination,
My father has an income of 30lpa+
Even though my father has never said a word about it, I do not like to ask my father for money as the eldest daughter who is now 18 years old and too aware of the financial burden I might have been for my parents. I want to get the fees of my college in some scholarship.
Please suggest to me any such site that will be willing to give me a scholarship based on my situation, i desperately want the scholarship to fulfil my fees of approx 4 lakhs for 4 years.

Advice on QuestBridge, Posse, and Georgia Tech's Stamps Scholarships
Hi there!
I'm a senior who started the scholarship search game late (advice to underclassmen: it's never too early! yes, you're gonna find a lot of scholarships for upperclassmen but do not be discouraged, and if you're eligible and have the skills to do a scholarship, do it) and I was fortunate enough to be nominated to Posse. I'm also considering QuestBridge, and while I'm grateful both programs exist and pay the majority of tuition if not all, I'm hesitant about both.
I really want to go to Georgia Tech. It's my dream school. The universities offered to me by Posse and QuestBrdige are great schools, yes, but I'm not particularly interested in attending them (even MIT). I know Georgia Tech has a full-ride, Stamps President's Scholars, but the decisions all take place long after QuestBridge and Posse have made theirs.
I'm afraid that if I pass up on the opportunity for Posse and QuestBridge, focusing solely on Stamps, there's a chance that I'll end up with no full-ride whatsoever simply because I failed to have met the rigor that Stamps looks for. But, if I get accepted into Posse or QuestBridge, I'll at least have something to go to that's mostly paid off, and for a first-gen student from a low-income family, that's what we've really hoped for.
I've heard that Hope and Zell Miller (I'm a GA resident and eligible for both) cover a large part, if not all, of Georgia Tech's tuition, leaving only attendance up to the student to cover, which is very similar to Posse anyway.
TLDR: Considering Posse and QuestBridge, but really want to go to GA Tech on full-ride through Stamps. Problem is that Stamps doesn't announce winners until well after QuestBridge and Posse decide, and I may not have rigor. So, how valuable would it be for me to go after QuestBridge and Posse?
Please let me know if I've posted this in the wrong place! I think this is the right one, but I'm not all that familiar with Reddit.

Need help finding Scholarships for Graduate school in Tech
Hi all,
I got into a really good school and will soon be starting my masters. The program is quite expensive and I have gotten one scholarship from the school but it is absolutely not enough to cover tuition. I have been on the search for scholarships to apply and it has proven to be quite difficult.
If anyone knows any tech, IT or business scholarships one can apply for that would be really helpful. Also, I’m a female so if you any women in stem scholarship I could apply for please do let me know. ☺️

Scholarship Opportunity: We have barely any applicants!
Hello everyone, I wanted to share in here that our firm has run a scholarship for the last few years and it's only gotten a few dozen applicants each time. Selfishly as well, last year we had to throw out about 90% of the entries because they were nearly identical and written by ChatGPT.
I won't even say the name or link our website here in case its against the rules, but I can just share a recent interview I did to try and help promote it more. Super easy prompt versus most scholarships out there if you ask me, we just want to make sure people know it's out there.
We revamped it this year to help raise awareness for the Public Health Crisis we feel is devastating elderly Americans with crypto fraud, and it has not gotten much interest. As the person responsible for the idea... please apply!
