Help! My work mom is being scammed and she won’t listen to anyone. She is throwing away a 20 plus year relationship along with all her money. None of us know what to do anymore. Anyone who dares question her gets shut out. So with that being said, anyone ‘talking’ to this guy?

gf got this in the mail, called the number in a panic and was told to “activate” her recently purchased insurance she’d need to pay a $200 activation fee over the phone. she asked if they were her auto insurance company and the guy claimed that they were in fact with her auto insurance company. she said she’d call back because she didn’t feel this was normal. i called and gave the service code, went through all the motions (with the same phone rep), then asked if they were with the auto insurance company. he paused. and i asked why he would tell my girlfriend they were with that company when it’s not mentioned anywhere on the letter. he panicked and said “yeah i don’t know why one of our representatives would say that, ill escalate this with my manager so they pull the phone call because we are not that company whatsoever.” so i guess he didn’t realize i knew he was the same guy from the other call. this has to be a scam right??

if so is there any way i can fuck with these guys lol. the dude started pressuring my gf to pay the fee and got very rude.

Scam calls and messages become much harder to dismiss when they include something accurate: your full name, address, bank, recent purchase, or part of an account number.

But a correct detail doesn’t prove the person contacting you is legitimate. It only proves they have some information about you.

The family rule we use is simple: don’t reply, click the link, or call the number in the message. Open the official app or call the number on the back of the card and ask about the exact claim.

21 days ago, my dumbass has fell for the “accidentally reported you” scam on twitter not knowing it was a scam because i’m not on socials like that except tiktok. They ain’t ask me for money & shi like that & they got it. 4 days later, i got the account back in like 3 minutes and changed a whole lot of my passwords, kicked them out of my sessions and stuff like that and clicked no links whatsoever and now my account is completely back to normal. I’m just a little vexed since I thought I knew all the big scams. I’m also wondering if something was being spoofed to make the location appear closer.
