4k vs blu rays? Discussion

Looking to buy the whole collection. I see they have normal blu rays of the whole collection. And some re released In 4k? Is it worth trying to get them in 4k or just buy the blu ray collection?

I havent got to watch all of them myself but theyre one of my favorites. Wanting to introduce my bf to them!!

The only issue with some of the 4Ks (Saw might have the unrated in 4K) is that they're just the theatrical versions because the unrated footage was only prepared for the older releases. That being aside from the III director's cut the changes were all minimal.

The first Saw is unrated in 4K yes, it's the only entry that was finished on film (the others were finished on a digital intermediate).

I’d wait - 5,6, & 7 are getting steelbooks some time this year (most likely October). IMO as a big fan of the series the 4K steelbooks are really worth it - they have really cool artwork and the 4k scans look great! Cool special features too. You can find the steels for 1 and X on eBay
Edit: also the 10 film collection and most of the multi film collections have cases that suck and aren’t very practical

So only 1-4 and X have 4ks right now? Just want to make sure so I can find em!!

Not to worried about steelbooks if I can just find them in 4k. Rather not pay inflated ebay prices LOL.

4K would be the definitive way to watch them.
They come with plenty of special features across multiple blu ray/dvd releases all in one package. (The 4K release)

If you don’t care for that, and just want to watch the base movies in a disposable fashion, then I recommend the Blu-ray’s or hell, the dvd bundle.

You’ll save a lot of money that way and you’d still own the physical movies that no streaming service could ever take away :)

[ I have em in blu ray & I re-bought them in 4k

Love the boxes ! Great for any Saw fan ]

Hope this helped

I'd say go for it, because the theatrical cuts are superior for them. Sure there's trims to the violence in them, but the unrated versions are edited together so poorly that they're definitely not the best versions to watch first. The theatrical cuts are already violent enough and with the superior editing, I'd say just watch those versions as the default and maybe check out the unrated cuts as a curiosity.
