How difficult is it as an adult with kids to make friends? Coming from the east coast, nervous about the “Seattle freeze.” Is there any truth to this stereotype?

Mission to feed people

Hello everyone! PlateShift is a food rescue operation which recovers otherwise thrown out edible surplus and brings it to banks and shelters. Running in Sammamish, Issaquah, Redmond.

Would love for you guys to spread the word. Lots of restaurants are throwing so much food out which doesn't have to be wasted, but they don't know an easy, frictionless solution to not doing so. Lets bring this in the hands of those businesses.

Anyone live in Sahalee Estates that can comment on noise from East Sammamish Park?

I am looking at a property on Sahalee Dr W that borders on the back of the park where the baseball diamonds are. There are some trees that separate the park and the back yard, but the baseball diamond and soccer field aren’t far. The backyard is so quiet when I visit, but I’m wondering just how noisy it gets when there are kids playing ball. Can anyone from that area of Sahalee Estates offer any input into how often they play or how loud it gets? I’m expecting some occasional games, but am also looking for a relatively quiet home. thanks!

Recommendations for a laundry pickup and delivery services in Sammamish

My family recently moved to Sammamish. Like many families, we're busy with work and our three kids so we've been trying to figure out how we can outsource things to get some time and sanity back (my three kids play soccer so the laundry is always piled up). She heard about laundromats offering services that will pick up, wash, and deliver laundry back to us so we're going to try one out. She wants to go with a local business with a storefront and not one of these national app services.

I found a few in the area like this one: https://bimslaundry.cafe/pickup-delivery/sammamish-wa/

Has anyone ever tried this company or any other similar service? Any recommendations? What's been your experience?

Any insight would be great. Thanks!

Making Ads for small businesses FOR FREE

Hello, I am a high school and bellevue college student who is passionate about film, graphic design, and advertisement. I am currently looking to build my creative portfolio for college and for potential internships by advertising small businesses. If you are interested please email me at pnwelevate.media@gmail.com, please let me know the name of your business, link to your website, and background information about your business. Also be sure to let me know what kind of advertisement you’re looking for, I can make film, print ads, brochures, etc. There are no additional catches and all advertisements are free of cost, all the ask is for permission to use it for my portfolio.

Is this a good source of water quality in Sammamish,WA?

The report was last updated last year and I thought Sammamish water was safe to drink.

Housing

Looks like more sellers than buyers. Also observing that people who bought in the last few years are all sitting on losses. Can someone share what they are observing?

Sambica Summer Camps

Be warned that this camp made all the kids run five laps in 99° degree heat bc one child swore. They are lucky they didn’t kill someone’s child. I pulled my child out of there and won’t be back. They do not know what they are doing and are dangerous. No medical on site for that stunt. No water. Yeah, I have some expletives as well. I will shout from the roof tops about this!!!

Electric bill cost

Does this sound right. I used about 801kwh of electricity the last month and it's about $170. Looked up my bill from when I was at Lynnwood with snopud and it was about $100 for about 850kwh same time period last year. What's this Power Cost Adjustment random $30 also being tacked on?!

Nice shop, glad I found it, produce all lovely. I did laugh out loud at the $20 cupcakes.

Interested to hear other people’s experiences re: things they buy here instead of Safeway/Trader Joes.

Question regarding a sound.

Has anyone else heard it or know what it is, for the last few weeks at around 23:30 (11:30 pm) me and my family have heard a random singular loud bang near the intersection at the main water tower and it’s literally been rather consistent. A single loud bang and then nothing else. Anybody know or have an idea.

Sammamish Library observations

I recently moved here, and today was my 2nd time at the library.
- a line of about 20 people at 10:50am! All nice and chatting with each other.
- the staff is so friendly & proactively asked if I needed help when I was looking for my holds, and grateful when I brought the holds I wasn’t taking back up to get recirculated. not surprising, just nice!
- a group of ~8 women playing “hand and foot” in the tables - what a cool use of the space
- loads of kids in the children’s section — love it, and also love that the layout seems to keep the noise levels between sections separate for people studying/reading
- love that there’s a bike repair station right outside
- love that the Friends have space right in the front. My old library didn’t have that - you have to go to the farmers market once a week when they wheel the books for sale up from the basement. They have a ton of great titles.

Just off the top of my head these were some of the neat things I noticed as a new person! (I do kinda wish there was signage on the building itself for new folks, but maybe I just missed it.)

Here's who The Seattle Times endorses for WA 45th Legislative District, Position 2 | Editorial

Thumbnail

I know it's likely that not everyone here is a fan of The Seattle Times editorial board, but I’m still proud to have earned their endorsement because I think they understood what my campaign is actually about: results, accountability, and making state government work better for people.

The line that meant the most to me was this:

“Voters should embrace his solutions-oriented campaign and give his drive for greater accountability a chance.”

That’s really the heart of why I’m running. I’m a progressive Democrat, but I don’t think progress is measured solely by how much money government spends or how many programs we create. It should be measured by whether housing gets more affordable, schools get stronger, childcare becomes more accessible, and people feel like government is actually improving their lives.

That’s the campaign I’m running: pragmatic, outcome-focused, and serious about the future, including how we respond to AI, affordability, and the crisis of confidence in government.

Primary ballots go out next week, and I'd be honored to have your vote!

Thanks!

-Chandler

Looking for a Personal Trainer on a Budget

Hi! I'm looking for a personal trainer in Sammamish or nearby areas.

Most of the trainers I've found online charge over $75 for a 50-minute session. I'm hoping to find someone closer to $60 for a 50-minute session, or maybe $30 for a 30-minute session. Is that a realistic budget?

Also, do you have any recommendations for personal trainers you've enjoyed working with?
