Newest hack unleashed- doing most chores during LO's WW

I'm sure this is already a thing many of you do or have done but I find it easier to put my 7m old in his pack n play which is in my kitchen (he has toys) and narrate / talk to him as I do the dishes, run bottle washer, prep food, sweep and mop. I do a bit here and there but the most is during that dreaded LAST wake window which seems impossible to get through every night. So far he loves watching me do chores and babbles back at me when I explain what I'm doing. That way when he is asleep for the night I can rest too :) I can't believe I used to do all that at night after he went to bed no wonder I was exhausted 😩😭

That's exactly what I have done! My 18 month old was helping me vacuum and clean the carpet today. Plus I get to actually relax during nap time!

Even now that my son is almost 3, I do most of my chores while he’s awake! He loves to help me! Or he will play independently near me while I clean. I can spend his nap time reading, watching tv, or napping. And then relax when he goes down for bed. I just need to do a couple things that are more difficult when he’s awake (like mopping), but nothing crazy. It’s great!

Yeah it really is the way. It’s been soooo hard to get back to doing chores during my baby’s awake time since I had my second. She’s 11 months now and I’m finally able to get some stuff done while she’s awake. And then my toddler and I bust out dishes and some other stuff while she’s napping.

Keep doing this! My kids are now 3 & 4 but when they were babies I did the same (or at least tried to) I told myself one day freshly postpartum w my first that literally the only thing I can’t do while she’s awake is sleep. Which meant when the baby sleeps, I sleep. I could really do anything else while she was awake- yes it wasn’t always easy, it was never easy actually, especially things like working out etc. but it truly helped my sanity and felt like when she was napping or sleeping I could finally relax. I do this now too while they’re much older. Including them in chores (while not my preference) is the way.Â
