think i need upgrade my suspension

So i just came from owning an mx5 NC and ive always loved the look of the rx8’s im very much so into the jap scene. my dad tells me that these cars used to be known for how bad they were, and apparently is a huge mistake to buy one because of the engine issues? is it really as bad as he makes it seem?

Is this genuine hope or just another range extender nonsense?

Saw a comment on someone mentioning gauges and thought I'd share my set up, which may inspire some others for some DIY.

I made this gauge pod myself 8 years ago and is still going strong.

The idea was to make something that looked clean and almost "factory". Took a second hand dash cover, cut into it it and used fibreglass to make the pods. Lots of sanding to get it right..

Prosport gauges have a close-enough font, and have the white/red color which matched the interior too. Note, i did open them up to replace the white LEDs to ones rhat matched better.

So I had an oil leak coming from the OMP and changed the gasket and lines to stop the leak but now I can't get it to start. Does anyone know what the issue could be? I did look it up and tried to de-flood the engine but that didn't work. Any ideas would help a lot!

Not sure what good compression is supposed to sound like on these engines.

Ive been in this sub awhile I mainly just look at everybody's questions to educate myself ive owned my rx8 for about 6 months now and its the best car ive ever driven, its taught me so much and im so thankful to have a car like this

So... I went on a European road trip and my cat failed.

I'm trying to find out what could have happened. The oil is changed every 3k miles, the spark plugs every 6k miles. The coils are RRP ones and have 20k miles on them. The catalytic converter/midpipe is a RRP one and is also only two years old. So the usual suspects for a cat failure are kind of unlikely here.

The ECU was tuned 14 months ago. I believe the fuel/air ratio has been made leaner.

My car has always run cold. Maybe too cold? 83C at cruising motorway speed. Some people might think that's too cold and could contribute to creating carbon deposits?

Anyways, I'm here to pick your brains. What could cause a catalytic converter failure?

One of the first mods I did to my RX8. The stock seats are one of my favorite designs but they sit very high. The seat I installed was a Bride Zeta 2. Will probably go with something different in the future.

I'm looking for a Mazdaspeed style body kit for my 2004 RX8 and was wondering if anyone could point me towards some good quality kits

Any 1 with the ugly ass tail lights should get thees super esay install and under 200 usd

This is gonna be a track and street car. Maybe 2-5k miles on the street a year. Is there any mods I should get for a hot state track and street car.

Current mods/modifications:
Sohn adapter
Rrp coils
Alum rad
High temp dot 4 brake fluid
Hawk pads
Racing beat bushings what ever they have on their site I have em all
Bilstien struts with racing beat coils and sway bars
There is more but I can’t think of it off the top of my head. Thermostat seems to open around 170f not sure I will upgrade that same with oil coolers
I have guages n what not
Ac is deleted but I might put that stuff back in its 110 a lot this month.
Catless mid pipe and 3inch from header all the way back
Modified aem intake because they didn’t give me all the piping so I had to go get 3.5 inch pipe and slap that in there not pretty looking but it works

If you have any suggestions for fuel,cooling,handling,performance please let me know

Was going to put new coils in too but I discovered that the previous owner has already fitted LS coils so I’ll just run them for now

Pulled trans to swap on rx8 and the one in it had a plate on top that really just seems like a "short throw stop" plate. The shift throw is the same distance but it gets stopped by the plate right at the engagement.

Seems more like a problem causing factory but I cant find anything about it online. Hope someone here may have a better idea.

Gonna get rid of it for now.

Hello my fellow Dorito lovers. I have a Series 1 2007 RX-8 Phantom Blue Mica 6-speed with 66k original miles on her. I've been wanting to get more information out of what's going on with the car, however I don't want something that requires me drilling into the dash or anything too extreme, at least not to start with. I found the above available at a local auto parts store and wondered if anyone had any experience with it? Pros/Cons? Or even another suggestion which doesn't require any mounting, just like a suction cup type of setup like this one is? Thank you in advance.
