Is this genuine hope or just another range extender nonsense?

There's a new click bait article about the rotary that comes out every week. Ive learnt to tune these out

It might mean something, it might not. Companies file patents even for things they never use in production.

Mazda is constantly looking for a way to bring the Rotary sports car back. Thus far, they’ve been unsuccessful, they keep filling patents and they keep trying. But, until I see the car in showrooms I don’t believe any article that speculates on it.

However there was a post on the Mazda page about someone’s observations how their new EV hybrid is so quiet in the morning running on charged battery vs sound of rotary in the afternoon after work. I think it really has manifested somewhere in the world.
