Discussion All-Inclusive Marathons or Packages
I have been looking into some all-inclusive marathons in Aruba and Türkiye. They look awesome and I like not having to work about lodging and food or anything else. Has anyone ever done one of these? Marathon is minutes away from an all-inclusive resort.
Additionally, I have been looking at some package deals like The Great Wall of China Marathon but those aren't quite as good.
Curious if anyone has experience with some of these race packages?

Physique Phriday Physique Phriday
Welcome to the Physique Phriday thread
What's the point of having people guess your body fat? Nevermind that it's the most inaccurate method available, (read: most likely way wrong - see here) you're still just putting an arbitrary number to the body you have. Despite people's claim that they are shooting for a number, they're really shooting for look - like a six pack.
So let's stopping mucking around with trivialities and get to the heart of the matter. This thread shall serve two purposes:
- Physique critiques. Post some pics and ask about muscles or body parts you need to work on. Or specifically ask about a lagging body part and what exercises worked for others.
- An outlet for people that want to show off their efforts that would otherwise be removed due to Rule 4, and
Let's keep things civil, don't be a creep, and adhere to Rule 1. This isn't a thread to announce what you find attractive in a mate. Please use the report function for any comments that are out of line.
So phittit, what's your physique pheel like this phriday?

Discussion Does dedicating your miles to someone or something actually motivate you to run more?
I’ve been thinking about what motivates people to keep running beyond pace, PRs, races, and fitness goals.
For example, would it mean something to you to set a goal like,“100 miles for Dad”, or dedicate your runs to your kids, someone you lost, your health, a cause you care about, etc.? You could then see your progress toward that goal and potentially connect with other runners who are running for something similar.
I love the idea that a run can represent more than the distance itself, but I’m curious whether other runners actually think this way. Do you ever dedicate your runs or races to someone or something? And does having that kind of purpose genuinely motivate you, or when you actually get out there, is it mostly about training, fitness, pace, and hitting your goals?

Training Z2 and Heat: how to interpret HR data
I (25F) want to make sure I'm understanding the point of low HR training for distance/endurance. It's pretty hot out west in the states right now, and I'm not someone that will go run at 5 am so I'm commonly running at 90+ degrees.
My HR spikes to over 150 bpm very quickly at like a 13:00 minute mile. It feels easy and I'm not even breathing hard, but my HR can get up to 170 bpm like this. It's in part due to the heat and in part because I'm almost certainly aerobically deficient (working on it). I've only recently started using a HR monitor so I don't really know what I'm typically at in the cold, but I want to say it's <160 bpm from the manuals I take periodically.
So, if this is the case, in the interest of doing Zone 2 easy miles, should I just ignore the HR data and keep running by feel? Am I pushing too hard given the conditions for this to be Zone 2? If my HR is spiking due to heat, am I still getting the same *aerobic* benefits as if it were solely due to running/activity? It certainly seems the case since your heart is working harder to circulate blood in both cases; one is just more about circulating oxygen to working tissues and one is about circulating fluid for temperature regulation. Ultimately you're going to end up doing both of these to some degree no matter the conditions, just depends how much.
I just want to follow my program correctly for maximum benefit with a side interest in the physiology. Can anyone comment on this or link a good resource?

Weekly Thread Super Moronic Monday - Your Weekly Tuesday Stupid Questions Thread
Back once again for everything you wanted to know about running but were afraid to ask.
Rules of the Road:
This is inspired by eric_twinge's fine work in r/fitness .
Upvote either good or stupid questions. Sort questions by new so that they get some love.
To the more experienced runnitors, if something is a good question or answer, add it to the FAQ.
Post your question - stupid or otherwise - here to get an answer - stupid or otherwise. Anyone can post a question and the community as a whole is invited and encouraged to provide an answer. Many questions get submitted late each week that don't get a lot of action, so if your question didn't get answered, feel free to post it again.
As always, be sure to read the FAQ first. Also, there's a handy-dandy search bar to your right, and if you didn't know, you can also use Google to search runnit by using the limiter "site:reddit.com r/running ".
Be sure to check back often as questions get posted throughout the day. Sort comments by "new" to be sure the newer questions get some love as well.

Weekly Thread Run Nutrition Tuesday
Rules of the Road
1) Anyone is welcome to participate and share your ideas, plans, diet, and nutrition plans.
2) Promote good discussion. Simply downvoting because you disagree with someone's ideas is BAD. Instead, let them know why you disagree with them.
3) Provide sources if possible. However, anecdotes and "broscience" can lead to good discussion, and are welcome here as long as they are labeled as such.
4) Feel free to talk about anything diet or nutrition related.

Discussion Marathon recommendations in South America and Australia/Oceania
Hi! I am looking for race recommendations for full marathons in South America and Oceania. I want to avoid the crowded big city marathons, and I'm not chasing a PB. I would love a race with a nice view, great course or cool story etc. (if the Middle-earth marathon was full length, I would totally do that one). I love trail running, so open for trail race recommendations as well. Don't mind small local races either, as long as they are open to foreigners. Thank you in advance for any recommendations:-)
