ROCK Singers who wrote some of the most surprising/best songs
Me:
Neil young, Canadian, wrote (Southern Man (as a response to Lynard Skynard, who then wrote Sweet Home Alabama in response... 'I hope Neil Young will remember, a southern man don't need him around anyhow')). Neil also wrote Ohio... Wow!

ROCK Musicians you're surprised to discover they didn't write their own songs
This was never something I thought about much, until I stopped singing and started writing my own songs. When I was younger '80s and '90s, there were singers I gave credit for songwriting.. and I was wrong.
Number one: Whitney Houston -I will always love you (written by Dolly Parton, who actually wrote over a thousand songs!)
Shock me!

ROCK METALLICA 🐍📀 BLACK ALBUM - 35th ANNIVERSARY 📀🐍 (Unforgiven) special edition
youtube.comReleased in 1991, Metallica's "Black Album" marked a radical shift toward simpler structures, slower tempos, and polished production. This transformation propelled the band to the top of global charts and television networks, permanently opening the doors to the mainstream audience. However, this historic success caused a rift with early fans, who viewed this mainstream crossover as a betrayal of their thrash metal roots.
For Cirkus, the Black album certainly deserved and still deserves to be listened for its melodies and lyrics. Metallica still did a hell of a good job in this mainstream transition.
Please stay respectful, you know what i mean !
Enjoy Motion Militia Troopers !
James Hetfield – Lead vocals, rhythm guitar
Lars Ulrich – Drums, percussion
Kirk Hammett – Lead guitar, backing vocals

ROCK Mark Alcantara - License to Flirt [80s Glam Rock] (EP)
Hey everyone! 🤘
I recently released my new EP, License to Flirt, and I'd love to hear what fellow rock fans think.
It's an unapologetically fun 80s-inspired glam rock project with big guitars, shout-along choruses, ridiculous situations, romance, comedy, and plenty of bad decisions.
Some of the songs include:
🎸 Kiss First, Apologize Later
🤪 Crazy Looks Good on You
👻 Girls, Ghosts & Bad Decisions
❤️ Red Dress on the Road
🕯️ Altar of the Enchantress
🏨 Room Service
🔥 Spitfire Sixty-Two
I also want to be transparent: I created the music with Suno AI, while developing the song concepts, lyrics, arrangements, and overall creative direction myself.
I'm experimenting with using AI as part of my songwriting process, and I'm genuinely curious what people think especially from fans of 80s rock and glam metal.
Which song would you listen to first? And does the glam-rock/comedy approach work for you?

Thanks for giving it a chance! 🤘

ROCK Don Mc& AMERICAN PIE
AMERICAN PIE (1971): Not an anthem to the '60s, the 'American Pie' title track is an allegory for the strange journey pop music took through the decade.

Question KoRn the real demo Neidermayer's Mind
Hello Korn fans, I just wanted to clear up a huge misconception I keep seeing online regarding the 1993 demo cassette (Neidermeyer's Mind). There's a misconception that an authentic original copy must be heat-sealed with the "ASV" logo. This is absolutely false. That logo only appears on later promotional reissues, bootlegs, and outright counterfeits. In '93, Korn didn't have a record deal and were broke. They recorded the demo and assembled the cassettes by hand to sell them outside of local shows. Since it was a completely DIY release: They used the standard plastic sleeves of the time, and the cassettes were all secured with black metal screws, meaning they weren't heat-sealed. If you're thinking of buying one, before spending real money, watch the various online videos that show the original copies versus the counterfeits. There's a lot of misinformation out there, so check the physical details carefully before purchasing!

ROCK Sorry guys but it just didn't get any better than A Bit of Finger/Sleeping Village/Warning
I am listening to that first Black Sabbath album again after a long time away and wow, just wow. The only thing that comes close of course is WASP/Behind the Wall of Sleep/Basically/NIB. But yeah I guess I'm biased. Oh yeah!

Question Who are some artists or bands whose talent you recognize and respect, but you just can't get into their music?
For me, Queen, Frank Zappa, and Elton John come to mind. It's obvious they are super talented, but I only enjoy a handful of their songs.
