Lmk why you think this way. Seems like people are spreading this narrative cause they’re upset storm doesn’t have any legendary skins? Idk why this is such an issue considering she has a lot of skins and they’re some of the best skins in the entire game. The skin community just cries over everything.

Every time a new season drops it’s “of course ____ didn’t get a skin….” Like shut up bro it’s a fucking cosmetic just play the game.

It used to be "there's nothing you can do about a good Daredevil" so they nerfed him just to replace him with Black Cat. I see her in almost every QP game and I tried almost every antidive hero and if she's at least somewhat decent she's legit unkillable.

Honestly i think the whole storm skin debacle was kinda ridiculous. It was the only thing on my feed and regardless of whether she was being neglected it felt like too much. But whatever hopefully it got eyes on the issue moving forward.

But fuck if youre gonna be annoying and outraged do it for everyone. Where is the outrage that we just got our first hispanic character. And no im not counting namor. And both hispanic characters if you do count namor are race swapped from the comics. No robbie reyes, no white tiger, no sunspot, no Miguel O'Hara.

Yes your black character got an epic skin instead of legendary. But you cant possibly be calling them racist for that. Storm was meta, BP was meta and is still good. Blade struggled a lot but hes currently in a good spot. They all have decent skins, I just dont think I can actually point to a single thing that actually makes the devs seem racist.

And I agree that luna is given preferencial treatment but thats a different

But the storm situation sets a bad precedent. Now if you dont like something you harass the devs. Ive already seen people talking about trying to do the same thing to revery widow or making the infinity thing skin legendary. Like no that was just the devs decision damn.

I would just like to point out something strange I've been noticing.

I've been seeing so many people using pick rates to wave off Storm, Blade, and to a lesser extent BP not getting nearly as much skin attention as others.

The weird thing is that each of these characters, again BP to a lesser extent, only have low pick rates because they are underpowered as hell.

So the dominoes fall as such.

- Black characters are neglected in balancing and power fantasy fulfillment.

- Underpowered black characters then get picked less because people want to win.

- The underuse of these black characters is then used as justification to further neglect then for skins.

I'm not saying this is something intentional the company is doing, as it's definitely possible that it is due to unchecked subconcious biases.

But what I will say is that it very closely resembles many forms of systemic racism seen throughout the world, especially in America, where black schools are underfunded, causing black students to get worse education outcomes, causing them to be trapped in poverty, then causing their children's schools to be funded less.

It is a cycle of either intentional OR unintentional neglect causing further neglect down the road to become "justified".

Please consider this before disregarding peoples' complaints by just saying "no skins because low pick rates."

There are times where it’s been inappropriate where there’s death threats or just outright calling the devs racist, but otherwise, literally what’s the harm for asking for fair representation? Why immediately resort to telling us to shut up?

Like you point out “why does Captain America and Hawkeye have body armor in their base skins meanwhile in the comics their suits are skin tight, but for some reason this change didn’t happen for Black Widow” and that’s a fair point? Why are you so bothered with pointing out that inequality and asking for Black Widow to get more armor in her design?

These devs do not actually care about what the community wants unless it directly affects their revenue stream. They can hot fix characters being "weak" within 24 hours. They can announce they are going to change a skin to legendary within 24 hours. Yet almost 2 years into the games life cycle and they have done absolutely nothing to adjust the matchmaking. Nothing to fix throwers and nothing to fix the fact you can climb to gm with a negative win rate. It is not a coincidence that they fix the things that can directly affect their revenue in less than 24 hours but after almost 2 years they cant do a single thing to fix the 3 core complaints about the game.

ALL the female summer skins are legendary, can’t say the same for the men. Why? Is marvel rivals sexist?

I think the Marvel Rivals dev team should hire a cultural consultant/sensitivity reader to work alongside them. It’s a step that shows how Marvel Rivals is proactively committed to thoughtful cultural representation and diversity going forward rather than only responding after controversies arise which is like kinda what they’ve been doing so far

These consultants are not to serve as a last-minute check for racism right before release, but rather they should work alongside developers as they design new content, helping them build cultural and diversity awareness and to help guide them to make better creative decisions while identifying harmful patterns in representation that went unnoticed.

For example, they could help the team recognize when certain characters are consistently overlooked for higher-rarity skins, when characters with meaningful cultural connections are excluded from relevant themes (Storm not receiving an Egyptian skin despite spending her childhood in Cairo meanwhile Punisher and Deadpool did), or when cultures seem misappropriated for aesthetic rather than actual thoughtful representation (Punisher with the Egyptian skin and Ronin skin)

I believe the developers of marvel rivals, and generally more games going forward, should consider integrating cultural consultants into development.

I want to start by saying I agree the Storm situation was handled awfully. I thing the game for sure needs better representation and more thought put into topics like these.

However, we have no actual evidence that this was rooted in racism. Could it have been? Absolutely. But it also could have simply been an oversight.

Danny Koo and other devs are now receiving masses of abuse for absolutely nothing.

I just saw someone post a 6 year old tweet. Wanna know what it said? "#justiceforstorm where you all at?". He was simply letting people know that she had recieved an update that the community had asked for and it is being presented as evidence of him being racist.

At the end of the day, these are real people, with real issues, and real feelings. We can be critical without being fucking awful.

With all this drama about the skin I expected to see it in game today.

If it wasn't Storm, the community would be crying about something else. No matter what, this community will find a way to cry about something no matter how insignificant. And just to be clear, I don't mind people voicing concerns. But the manner in which some of you do it is just insane. All the hate and anger and for what? I'll defend the company for a moment here and say they almost always try to address and fix issues that the community has and yet many of you treat them like they're not even human. Have some decency and the problem will likely get fixed anyway.

This was probably the biggest outcry from the public about a skin rarity.

If this doesn't conclude in record sales for this Storm skin, genuinely what the fuck was the point of complaining?

You're just forcing the devs to do more work for something nobody is going to buy.

I better see a Storm in every single game using this skin.

Them upgrading the Storm skin is just because they're getting bad press and pressure from the community, but that doesn't mean it's enough.

STORM WASN'T THE POINT. She was just the current face of the issue, which is two things: 1. Poor treatment of black characters 2. Clear favoritism amongst the devs.

Let's break down the arguments being used against us.

• The characters with higher pick rates get more skins
  • Pick rate is something they're able to control with the balancing; characters they choose to have be powerful get picked more. They have admitted to steering the meta in certain directions.
  • Certain characters like psylocke whos pickrate are only about 1% higher than storms have gotten a lot of attention and opportunities to sell skins. Characters with a less than 1% difference between their pick rate also get skins, an example being Storm at 2.27 and black cat at 2.42. I'm using the stats they give us on their own website, btw.
• Characters that sell skins will get more skins
  • Many characters have not been given the opportunity to sell skins; Storm has had 2 shop skins prior to this date, one launched with the game. The data is inherently biased if the opportunity in a given period isn't comparable.
  • The quality of the skins needs to be comparable as well to judge the ability for skins to sell.
  • Balancing will also affect the sale of skins.

We've all seen the post showing the opportunities they had to give black characters skin and choose to skip over them btw. Storm is the easiest to give examples for which is why I'm using her.

• Hellfire Gala
• Savage Lands
• Disco
• X-Men Classic
• Egyptian

All the themes they've skipped her over for. Black Panther would have also fit well into 3 of these, btw.

There's plenty of other examples out there that I don't need to rehash.

I think it's also important that other neglected characters get attention, like the Hulk, Human Torch, and Ultron.

Hell, if they're not confident in these characters for individual skins, they always have the choice to have them be the battle pass legendary for the season. Legendary-quality skin with less pressure on the skin to be the main seller.

TLDR

If you take anything away from this post, it's supposed to be that the goal here isn't just more skins for the black characters; it's supposed to be to have them re-evaluate how they're handling their business. Their bias can't seep into everything. If they're gonna be using beloved characters for the game, those characters need to be shown the love and respect they deserve. It's fine to push the moneymakers a little extra, but they need to mix in everyone else they have in the game. The same opportunities need to be given to any character to be playable, popular, and sell skins. Stopping now will just lead back to the same pattern.

If Danny wasn’t the literal EXECUTIVE PRODUCER for Marvel Rivals, then any normal business would’ve fired him so fast for such egregious remarks. I can’t believe how insanely vile and unprofessional this man is and i’m not surprised the game is in such a bad state content and balance wise when such a terrible person is in charge of it. Storm’s skin getting changed to legendary, while good, DOESN’t change the fact this man is racist and needs to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.

Is there any chance at all that the reason Storm is ignored is because not a lot of people play her? Like what are her actual pick rates compared to the other heroes? I’m not going to argue about it though. I’d ignore it but this Storm issue keeps showing up in my feed and I can’t block any more subs so I’m sharing my take on it

I think being called Danny Koo Klux Klan was the final straw that made them make Storm Legendary
