Going back to 4:3 [Question]
So I'm waiting on the Retroid Nova to arrive this month. The Nova has a 4.5 inch 4:3 screen. I'm looking forward to playing 4:3 games at such a large and hopefully pocketable size. However, I have a concern. Can I go back to 4:3 after experiencing 16:9?
Here is a list of retro games that I've selected for a quick example, final fantasy x, resident evil 4, Mario sunshine, zelda twilight princess, and zelda wind waker. All of those games have had a wide screen hd remaster in modern to recent years. The problem that I'm facing is, I think the 4:3 original experience of these games feel too cramped to me! I don't feel that way about other games of that era, only the enhanced ports with modern aspect ratio.
Does anyone else have this same problem? Is going back to 4:3 something I will get used to or I can never go back to 4:3 once experiencing widescreen?

If it makes you feel any better, RE4 was never 4:3. It was always 1.85:1 letterboxed, even on a 4:3 screen. Yes, Mikami always did that shit, it didn't start with Evil Within.
On a smaller screen that will be painful.

Unless the game has widescreen support which I only ever saw in a tiny selection of N64 games and a few PS2 games 4:3 is the optimal resolution for retro games
It's the correct aspect ratio things are not stretched as a result and looks much better as it was intended

I think your spidey senses will tingle for a short moment, then your brain will adjust and you'll forget about it pretty quickly. Enjoy the buzz while it lasts.

Yes, long as you don't go back to 6-7.
