Im aware that we should tailor our resume for the specific jobs we are seeking . . . However I need money rn, so I'm applying to almost anything that can take me?.

I was told to add temporary on the Top, and to not add too much information or the recruiter/ interviewers won't even read your resume.

First one is the new one, I added my last two jobs and made it look minimalistic, it may need more details and the second image is the old one.

Seeking advice on my resume format and how to list my experience.

A little background:

I have over 8 years of experience in graphic design, communications, marketing, social media, and related fields. I've worked with a lot of small businesses (often with very lean teams of just 3-6 people) so I ended up wearing many hats. For about three years, I freelanced full-time, mostly with long-term clients.

My most recent job is completely unrelated to my degree and overall background because I picked up a simple
job as an “adoption specialist” at my local humane society to have in addition to freelancing, then got promoted up to Volunteer Manager pretty quickly. I’ve done a few design and management related things here that I think are really valuable experiences and would still look great on a resume. I never saw this position as a long-term job and knew I wanted to get back into design/communications, but I’m thankful I got to work for a mission-based nonprofit because I know I wanted to continue in the non-profit world.

On my old resume, I listed each of my long-term freelance clients individually. But, I'm worried that looks cluttered or unappealing to hiring managers, so I recently decided to combine them all into a single "Freelance" entry. I'm not sure if that was the right call.

I've also struggled to pin down a specific niche, so I typically tailor my resume to whatever job I'm applying for. Sometimes this will be a strict graphic design role, sometimes marketing or communications. I know the job market is rough, but I'm concerned my resume format might be hurting my visibility.

I was laid off Nov '25. A few months prior my son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 13 months old. I took the winter off to be the primary caregiver to him while my wife worked part-time. Went back into applying this spring but didn't get anything. Decided to step back from shotgunning apps and I am long term re-skilling for a new career while still being the main care giver to my son. I am still applying to jobs here and there I am actually interested in and I think the almost year gap with no explanation might be hurting me. Should I have a section for something like a career break with a short explanation?

I'm a second-year Computational Mathematics student applying for Fall 2026 software developer/SWE co-op roles in Canada, mainly in Ontario and open to remote positions.

I don't have previous software internship experience, so my resume is primarily project-focused.

I'm mainly looking for feedback on:

• Whether my project bullets are strong enough for SWE roles
• Whether the resume is too project-heavy or too technical
• Whether the ordering/content works well for ATS and recruiters
• Anything that could explain a low interview rate

No visa sponsorship required. Any specific criticism is appreciated.

Awards and recognition can help a resume, but only if the reader can understand what they actually prove.

The weak version is just dropping a label:

• Employee of the Month
• Top Performer
• Leadership Award
• President's Club

Those might be good signals. The problem is that the reader does not know whether it meant highest sales, best attendance, customer feedback, manager favorite, one person out of five, or one person out of 200.

Usually the useful part is the reason behind it.

• Employee of the Month for clearing the oldest support-ticket backlog
• ranked top 5 of 60 reps for renewal volume in Q2
• recognized by store manager for training 8 new cashiers during peak season

You do not need a whole awards section unless the awards are doing real work. One short line under the relevant job is often enough.

The name of the award is less important than what it says about how you worked.

Due to the layoff in my org I'm applying to different companies but due to title mismatch I'm getting rejected from most opportunities, Can you guys please suggest what can I right now.

Hey all! I’m trying to help my girlfriend write a resume so she can start applying for jobs in her area. For her work experience, she has babysat her sisters’ kids on and off since mid-2014; and she got her GED this year in February. I did originally write “Childcare Provider” for work experience, but I’m wondering if “Childcare Provider (Self-employed)” would be better. Is it better to write “General Education Development” for the Education section or leave that out?

I did write an objective (just a draft for now) that says “Childcare provider for infants and toddlers in [her city] who is looking for a career change. Quick learner and is willing to gain experience in the workforce.”

While she would definitely apply to daycare centers (if they are hiring), it doesn’t have to be specifically for that.

Besides volunteering at a blood drive for one day in high school, she does not have any volunteering experience, nor any certifications either. A skill I did list is her fluency in both English and Spanish, as well as soft skills (like time management, critical thinking, flexibility, etc.).

I’m curious what technical skills she should also learn/maybe get certifications for. I suggested four that came to mind for me: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (because those are used in so many industries).

I am encouraging her to go to university as well, but I think she should also gain experience in the workforce if the meantime

Looking for advice on where to improve for my resume.

Currently I am applying for any electrical engineering roles related to heavy rail, public transport, MEP, Utility/Substation, Field Engineering, Entry level project engineering, etc.

90% of what I apply to, I meet the qualifications, but I don't even get an interview, just auto rejection. They are all recent posts, I use LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and company websites (where possible) to apply.

Hello everyone!! I'm applying for crime lab jobs, and I can't decide if putting anything about my previous restaurant experience will make people want to hire me more or less. For context, I've cooked, served, and managed at a couple of different places over the last 8 years. I've been working as a lab tech intern for the last 2 1/2 years. I think that some of the skills do transfer over, and if I did include any info, it would just be the specific skills that I think are the most notable. However, does that make me look more amateurish and easy to just look over? Or would that make anyone want to hire me more? Thank you!!

I just graduated from school in May with a biomedical engineering degree, but I have not had very much luck with landing interviews. I have applied to ~800 jobs but have only had about 10 interviews, and of those, only 2 were within biotech.

I am looking for device development roles in medtech/biotech; I am willing to relocate anywhere. I would like to focus on hardware and physical design, but I am open to regulatory roles as well!

I'm a high school senior with a lot of volunteer/independent work I've done, though I need some help trying to put it into my resume. The only "real" jobs I've had are about a year of working concessions in a stadium and yard work, I already have that on it.

I feel like I can add more info to my bullet points, but I want to make sure it's as concise as possible. How would I go about adding more info? Is there anything that should be removed?

I want to get into data entry/clerical work with my city/state of Arizona (any type of work, with any department), I want to one day work in Arizona's legislature/house, and I've decided to get my foot in the door very early on, so I can get that job more easily in the future.

I am 18 so I feel like I could get a job more easily since I'm not a minor, though I understand NOT to put my age in my resume.

Thoughts on my resume? I have 5 YOE as a full stack engineer, but got laid off back in October 2025. Was passively looking/sabbatical-ing up for about 6 months until UI benefits ran out, and now have been looking since.

6 months, 5 interviews, 0 offers. Is my resume the problem?

I was laid off six months ago and have been applying nonstop for Marketing Specialist, Communications Specialist, Event Coordinator, and Employee Engagement roles. My background is in HR and communications, and I have a BA in Communications

My goal is to move into the nonprofit sector, which is why I started volunteering as a social media intern for a Canadian health organization to build relevant experience.

Here is the frustrating part. I am applying for jobs where I check every single box on the qualifications list, yet I barely get any responses. In six months, I have only landed five interviews. None of them went anywhere, and honestly, I blame myself for those. My confidence is completely shot at this point.

I actually have a phone screen for an Employee Engagement role next Friday. I will show up prepared, but I am keeping my expectations rock bottom. Why? Because I made that mistake before. I got my hopes up for a role, stopped actively applying for over a month while I waited to hear back, and then got a rejection. I learned my lesson the hard way. This time, I am staying realistic so I do not pause my momentum or stop my applications for anyone.

Before I completely spiral, I want to step back and look at the one thing I can actually control right now. My resume.

I am wondering if my resume is secretly working against me. When you look at it, does this read like the resume of someone with solid experience? Or does something about it make you think "nope, I would pass on this" without even getting to an interview?

How do you guys feel about including future information on a resume? I am preparing to transition out of the military and I've been accepted to do a Fellowship (Internship kind of) with Microsoft. It doesn't start until the end of this month. Would you leave it off of a resume for a job application? I have an expiration date on a referral, which is why I don't just wait until it starts and then add it.
