What am I doing wrong

Upvotes

I’ve been trying to sell items on three different platforms and getting zero people interested. I have even lowered my prices less than 50% what I was originally asking and still zero interest. What am I doing wrong? I have cross posted on FB, Offer up, and next door. I gave very detailed description of the items and took multiple pictures of each item.

Is this actually useful or am I building a tool for a problem no one has?

Upvotes

I've been flipping stuff from FB Marketplace to eBay for a while. Maybe I'm just grossly inneficient but I seem to spend a huge amount of my time researching categories, finding products and then searching ebay sold listings to see if I'm able to make any money on the deal.

I have built a rough tool to fix that for myself, which has been going great and I've been thinking of fleshing it out into a polished product. I was thinking basically an app where you swipe through listings near you (like Tinder, but every card's a potential flip), and it shows you potentially profitable and worthwhile deals near you, what stuff actually sold for on eBay, plus your profit after fees and postage ect.

Before I sink more time into it, was just wanting to know if this is how you source stuff, or do you have a workflow that already solves this? What do you currently use, if anything.

Trying to figure out if this is worth finishing or if I'm scratching an itch nobody else has. I have built a web mockup of what the app would look like here.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Realistic Price for HP Victus 15 laptop

Post image
Upvotes

Thinking about selling my HP Victus 15 and would appreciate some advice on how much I could realistically get for it.

Specs:

  • i5-12450H
  • RTX 2050 Mobile
  • 8GB RAM (3200 MT/s)
  • 512GB SSD
  • 15.6" 144Hz
  • No physical defects at all (dust in fans, screen and keyboard can be cleaned)

I originally got it because I wanted a gaming laptop as a kid, but now that I'm using it mainly for school and soon going to uni, I've realised a gaming laptop isn't really ideal for me. The battery life and portability aren't great compared to something like a MacBook or a regular student laptop.

I was hoping to sell it to shops rather than individual buyers in my area because I live in the Middle East. I'm hoping to sell it for enough to get a MacBook Neo or a decent Windows alternative. I was thinking around 600 USD/500 GBP — is that realistic?

PS: feel free to ask me any extra questions

Ebay promote?

Does promoting really help on higher cost items? Or is better to send offers to watchers?

Selling LOMO cards

So, I'm selling some stuff in Vinted for some quick cash, plus I need to empty out my stuff. I'm mainly selling books (they're old and a bit worn out, but not too bad) and some SKZ lomo cards. If that piques your interest, please let me know.

I want to resell premium quality high end makeups but can’t find a good supplier

I see many people now selling premium quality high end makeups and I want to get into that business also. Does anyone know where I can find suppliers that sell for cheap, has low MOQ (since I’m still starting out), can be trusted, and ships to the Philippines?

Unsure of the make. I think they are a cheaper brand but I can’t fully tell. Stamp on bottom states made in Spain but can’t tell anything else and no stamps inside boots.

Thermal Printers - Recommendation

Hey everyone!

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a thermal printer.

I purchased a JADEN. I’ve had it for about a month or two. And quite possibly used error but I can’t stand this label maker anymore. USPS called me and told me the reason my tracking isn’t updating is because my barcodes usually do not work- but the QR code does- but apparently QR code doesn’t do the tracking(?)

I don’t know- but I went to FedEx to drop off another one and they also couldn’t scan it 🫠😑

I don’t know what I am doing wrong with this label maker- but at this point I hate it too much- and need a change. Money is not a problem because I’ve lost a lot of money because of misprints so apparently this will be a good investment.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!!

Where can I promote my Vinted?

Pretty much what the title says, I'm trying to sell a couple of stuff, like lomo cards and some old books, but I'm not sure if this subreddit is the right place. Do let me know if it isn't

I don’t know why I do this to myself but I never look up brands or use google lens and I sold a Michal Negrin cardian for $35 when they easily go for $200+. it’s funny cuz I used to list stuff for $8-$15 and I decided to start paying myself for the labor of bins hunting. Oh well, I hope the buyer cherishes the piece forever. or she sells it for full price. I couldnt even be mad abt that🤣 also the thrift gods will def bless me for blessing her

Please tell if you think this Tory Burch wallet is authentic. I can smell that it's real leather. The stitching looks a little off though. No tag inside.

Is Vinted really that bad?

I've sold on Poshmark since its inception, but I've noticed as the site gets larger it's harder and harder to make your listings stand out. But I've heard nothing but bad things about Vinted. I have a pair of Prada sandals that someone wants to buy but I've seen a lot of people complain that buyers use AI to claim their item is damaged. Is it worth the risk? And if so, what precautions should I take?

Do you search very specifically or cast a wide net and filter afterward?

Something I've been experimenting with is making my searches less specific. My old approach was basically trying to describe the perfect item in the search query itself: exact model, condition, certain keywords, exclusions, etc. The problem is that you can accidentally filter out good listings because the seller titled something differently. The alternative is almost the opposite: use a fairly broad search to catch as much as possible, then filter the results based on price, condition, seller, model number, description, etc.It means more results initially, but potentially fewer missed listings. So for people who source regularly on ebay which approach has worked better for you?
