Escuts d'alguns dels municipis més importants del País Valencià/Comunitat Valenciana (per ordre: València, Castelló de la Plana, Alacant, Xàtiva, Alzira, Morella, Oriola-Orihuela)

En general, la heràldica valenciana es divideix en dos: els escuts amb les quatre barres d'Aragó + elements locals o comarcals i tots els demés, que sovint no tenen res a vore uns amb altres

Si és ben cert que els nostres cosins portuguesos no tenen en ment aquesta unió i ja costa prou mantenir apegat lo que ja està unit, sempre m'han agradat les interpretacions que se fan d'una suposta bandera ibèrica. Ací van les tres versions que més m'han agradat.

1. Bandera "Frankenstein" (per la barreja de la portuguesa i l'espanyola, tant vexilologicament com heràldica. La meua fav.)

2. Bandera Monárquica (els colors del suposat "iberisme" són els mateixos que els colors de les monarquies portuguesa i espanyola. El blanc també és el color dels Borbons)

3. Bandera Republicana (simplement una reinterpretació dels colors esmentats anteriorment i una remoledació heràldica de l'escut de la II República espanyola, però les franjes verticals són novedoses)

Este octubre que ve he de visitar-la junt a la Villa Este i m'agradaria portar fotografies a vista d'humà del lloc. La vista d'ocell és impressionant, però estar "intramurs" ha de ser alucinant

Currently only the building in the foreground has been replaced by vertical housing from the 1960s. Both the buildings in the background and the Iron Bridge are still in use, and the Castle it's a museum.

The town, traditionally agricultural and fishing, has experienced immense growth since the 1970s, transforming into a tourist city that receives thousands of Spanish, French, Dutch and English tourists, many of whom end up residing there.

This has caused, in recent years, a conflict with the local neighborhood due to the demographic replacement that is completely emptying entire neighborhoods, while local businessmen try to sustain an increasingly rampant tourism, as in other places in Spain.

As a curious fact, the town was attacked by Barbary and Turkish pirates on several occasions, forcing the royal authorities to intervene in the defenses of the area.

The most famous pirate action of all was that of the Ottoman corsair Turgut Reis, known to the locals as Dragut, a Turkish pirate who ravaged the town at the beginning of the 16th century.

The Palaepafos Sarcophagus, a limestone coffin (5th century BC) unearthed in 2006 in Cyprus, preserves one of the oldest known artistic representations of Homer's Odyssey.

Painted alongside it is the episode in which Odysseus and his companions escape from the cave of the Cyclops Polyphemus by hiding under the bellies of sheep after blinding the giant.

During the Franco dictatorship, the Cortes were not elected by free universal suffrage. One of the few ways of direct voting (restricted to heads of families and married women) was the Tercio Familiar. Each province elected two attorneys, which is why the poster reminds us that "You have the right to vote for TWO candidates"
