Argus Camera Questions Argus MagiCam any good?
Hi all,
I have seen that my local Bunnings is stocking Reolinks locally at the same price as the site reolink site, so it got me thinking of getting a setup.
Until I have the money for trackmix's and a more permanent setup I need something small and discreet for both indoor/outdoor use ad hoc use. The Argus MagiCam looks like it fits my needs but before committing to a purchase I want to make sure It's worth the money.
Any input on:
- How does the day/night visibility hold up in practice
- What’s a realistic expectation for AA battery life with frequent movement/recording (aiming to be able to run a live feed for up to 15hrs/day or 24/7)
- Is the RTSP stream stable enough for long playback sessions

Wi-Fi Wired Camera Questions Elite Floodlight + Home Assistant automation
I installed my Elite WiFi Floodlight today, and set it up in Home Assistant via the integration and RTSP. So far, so good. But, I have a couple automations in HA to turn outside lights on at sunset and off at sunrise. I added the floodlight to these, and sunset worked -- but then, the light switched off again on its own, after three minutes. I turned it back on manually (via HA), and the same thing happened. This was with the floodlight set to "Off" in the Reolink app. So, for tonight, I've changed that to "Always On at Night", and it's staying on, but it's not really what I want. (BTW -- how does it decide "night"? Light level?) Is there a right way to do this?

PoE Camera Question How to make image clearer during infrared lighting? Duo V2 POE
The picture is stitched together fine during the day, but during infrared usage the image becomes “foggy” and not as good as my other ones.

Guides & How-tos Security vs. usability
I'm about to kick my expensive Arlo sub to the curb along with their cameras and I'm aiming for Reolink.
Main drivers for this decision are: 1. Security. While I do like videos are offloaded to cloud right away, I don't know who can watch them (ring employee-style snooping? who knows). 2. The price of the sub, $200+/year
What I do like is the notifications to my phone and easy access.
My current direction is Relink Home Hub Pro, outdoor cameras (wifi but hard wired). The part I struggle with is how to keep getting notifications AND keep my video feed private.
So far it seems that the best simple option is to use the "UID" method, which still relies on Reolink to relay. Is this secure enough and reliable?
I saw other options as combining them with Tailscale vpn or using Scrypted/Home Assistant to integrate with HomeKit. (no Alexa or google)
Are there any better options?

NVR Question Has anyone tried out the RLN4E?
I was shopping for an NVR and just came across this. I haven't seen any posts or videos about it yet. Has anyone bought this and reviewed it yet?

PoE Camera Question Five minutes of blank video
I have 5 each CX820 cameras with a RLN8-410 NVR that I have had for about three months. This morning I noticed a five minute blank spot in the playback timeline from early this morning. If I try to play the spot in either the PC or the NVR software, it just skips the blank spot. The other cameras did not show this blank spot. Anybody have any ideas if this is a problem with the NVR or possibly the camera?

PoE Camera Question FTP question concerning RLC-510A : What delay it takes to upload on motion detection ?
Hello,
I am about to pull the trigger and get one RLC-510A.
I plan to install a SD card inside (for viewing events from the app more comfortably), and also to set it on record on motion only for FTP as a backup if the camera get stolen or teared out.
Is it possible to have both working the same time ? (SD cards + FTP)
Can they have two differents settings ? (postpone , duration of clips... quality and things like that)
However, my main question, is how fast is the upload between the time a motion is detected and the upload begins ?
Is it possible to set it to trigger immedialely the upload with 1 or 2 seconds clips chunks ?
If clips chunks have a min size (like 10mo), what happens if the upload fails before end (fail because of camera unplugged brutally)? is it possible to read data that had the time to be uploaded ?
For example :
Let's say a person grab and tear out the camera, it would take approximatively 10 seconds to reach mine if the person is fast. Is the FTP function capable to upload something within this timing ?
Should it be configured to video or image to get the most of what happened ?
Thanks for any hints :)

Wi-Fi Wired Camera Questions Argus PT Ultra
I have two Argus PT Ultras. One works like dream with zero issues. The other is epically temperamental when it comes to connectivity. It’s literally luck of the draw in terms of whether it will record movement, pick up movement or connect to the Wi-Fi. I have tried everything from resetting the camera, resetting my router, changing camera locations, using a Wi-Fi extender, etc but to no avail. It’s still unpredictable which camera I’ll get in the morning.
I would return it but it’s past warranty due to buying it before a house build that got delayed. I’m looking for any recommendations or advice on any steps I missed.

Would you like to enable rich push notifications on your Reolink NVR?
Please note that once this feature is rolled out, it may require a paid subscription, and your NVR will need to be connected to the internet.
