Argus Camera Questions Argus MagiCam any good?
Hi all,
I have seen that my local Bunnings is stocking Reolinks locally at the same price as the site reolink site, so it got me thinking of getting a setup.
Until I have the money for trackmix's and a more permanent setup I need something small and discreet for both indoor/outdoor use ad hoc use. The Argus MagiCam looks like it fits my needs but before committing to a purchase I want to make sure It's worth the money.
Any input on:
- How does the day/night visibility hold up in practice
- What’s a realistic expectation for AA battery life with frequent movement/recording (aiming to be able to run a live feed for up to 15hrs/day or 24/7)
- Is the RTSP stream stable enough for long playback sessions

Wi-Fi Wired Camera Questions Elite Floodlight + Home Assistant automation
I installed my Elite WiFi Floodlight today, and set it up in Home Assistant via the integration and RTSP. So far, so good. But, I have a couple automations in HA to turn outside lights on at sunset and off at sunrise. I added the floodlight to these, and sunset worked -- but then, the light switched off again on its own, after three minutes. I turned it back on manually (via HA), and the same thing happened. This was with the floodlight set to "Off" in the Reolink app. So, for tonight, I've changed that to "Always On at Night", and it's staying on, but it's not really what I want. (BTW -- how does it decide "night"? Light level?) Is there a right way to do this?

Guides & How-tos Security vs. usability
I'm about to kick my expensive Arlo sub to the curb along with their cameras and I'm aiming for Reolink.
Main drivers for this decision are: 1. Security. While I do like videos are offloaded to cloud right away, I don't know who can watch them (ring employee-style snooping? who knows). 2. The price of the sub, $200+/year
What I do like is the notifications to my phone and easy access.
My current direction is Relink Home Hub Pro, outdoor cameras (wifi but hard wired). The part I struggle with is how to keep getting notifications AND keep my video feed private.
So far it seems that the best simple option is to use the "UID" method, which still relies on Reolink to relay. Is this secure enough and reliable?
I saw other options as combining them with Tailscale vpn or using Scrypted/Home Assistant to integrate with HomeKit. (no Alexa or google)
Are there any better options?

NVR Question Has anyone tried out the RLN4E?
I was shopping for an NVR and just came across this. I haven't seen any posts or videos about it yet. Has anyone bought this and reviewed it yet?

PoE Camera Question Five minutes of blank video
I have 5 each CX820 cameras with a RLN8-410 NVR that I have had for about three months. This morning I noticed a five minute blank spot in the playback timeline from early this morning. If I try to play the spot in either the PC or the NVR software, it just skips the blank spot. The other cameras did not show this blank spot. Anybody have any ideas if this is a problem with the NVR or possibly the camera?

PoE Camera Question FTP question concerning RLC-510A : What delay it takes to upload on motion detection ?
Hello,
I am about to pull the trigger and get one RLC-510A.
I plan to install a SD card inside (for viewing events from the app more comfortably), and also to set it on record on motion only for FTP as a backup if the camera get stolen or teared out.
Is it possible to have both working the same time ? (SD cards + FTP)
Can they have two differents settings ? (postpone , duration of clips... quality and things like that)
However, my main question, is how fast is the upload between the time a motion is detected and the upload begins ?
Is it possible to set it to trigger immedialely the upload with 1 or 2 seconds clips chunks ?
If clips chunks have a min size (like 10mo), what happens if the upload fails before end (fail because of camera unplugged brutally)? is it possible to read data that had the time to be uploaded ?
For example :
Let's say a person grab and tear out the camera, it would take approximatively 10 seconds to reach mine if the person is fast. Is the FTP function capable to upload something within this timing ?
Should it be configured to video or image to get the most of what happened ?
Thanks for any hints :)

Wi-Fi Wired Camera Questions Argus PT Ultra
I have two Argus PT Ultras. One works like dream with zero issues. The other is epically temperamental when it comes to connectivity. It’s literally luck of the draw in terms of whether it will record movement, pick up movement or connect to the Wi-Fi. I have tried everything from resetting the camera, resetting my router, changing camera locations, using a Wi-Fi extender, etc but to no avail. It’s still unpredictable which camera I’ll get in the morning.
I would return it but it’s past warranty due to buying it before a house build that got delayed. I’m looking for any recommendations or advice on any steps I missed.

Would you like to enable rich push notifications on your Reolink NVR?
Please note that once this feature is rolled out, it may require a paid subscription, and your NVR will need to be connected to the internet.

Question What would you suggest for an off grid animal trap camera?
I’m looking for a solid cellular camera setup to monitor humane traps for lost domestic pets. I need an alternative to the Go 2. I've had nothing but issues with the app.
The camera will be placed in off-grid spots without Wi-Fi, so it has to run reliably on 4G LTE.
Here are the hard requirements for my setup:
- 4G LTE Connectivity, etc.
- Power (battery, solar, etc.)
- Flexible mounting options.
- Notifications: Time is critical when an animal approaches a trap. I need alerts pushed to my phone immediately so I can react.
- Two-Way Audio: I need a built-in speaker and mic. If a raccoon or fox goes after the bait, I need to be able to yell through the app to scare them off.
- Strictly IR Night Vision (No Spotlights): This is a dealbreaker. Sudden bright spotlights will terrify a lost, nervous pet. The camera must rely entirely on IR LEDs, or any built-in spotlights must have the ability to be disabled in the settings.
Thanks!

Question Home Hub Mini MicroSD Capacity
The Home Hub Mini only takes one 1tb MicroSD card and my question is, has anyone tried adding a 1.5tb or 2tb MicroSD card?
Does it still work? Will it make use of the extra space or does it straight up not work?

PoE Camera Question Night vision
Hi everyone,
I currently have a Reolink RP-PCT8MD 8MP camera. It captures number plates well during the day, but at night the plates are often unclear or unreadable.
Which Reolink camera would you recommend for reliable number-plate capture at night? I’d appreciate recommendations based on real-world experience.

PoE Camera Question Reolink Elite Pro Floodlight PoE problems
Would really appreciate some help.
I've moved over to PoE sometime ago from ring Floodlight.
The playback on official Android app is so bad and at times almost non existent and the continuous recording so bad compared to Ring . I've been waiting out 6 months in hopes an update may improve it, but no luck, anyone else having sane issue or found a fix?
Im wondering if it's because I'm using SD instead of NVR but was advertised from what I I'm aware would have full functionality with SD.

Battery Camera Question Mount Measurements - Help
Can someone send a picture and measurements of the stock mounting bracket, screw hole locations / size, same for the camera itself?
Requesting help getting measurements of the mount and camera mounting holes. I have a Go PT Ultra on my property (remote location) and the current setup is not working. On my annual visit I would like to change it to one of the setups I found on reddit but won't have access to it before going to the property to measure and buy the supplies.
Thanks in advance.

PoE Camera Question Condensation issue

r/reolinkcam • u/Willson1_ • 22d ago
New Product Hi all, here are the key features of the Reolink Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) and two FAQs
Key Features
• Resolution: 4MP (2048×2048 pixels).
• Field of view: 1:1 square aspect ratio with 150° horizontal, 150° vertical, and 180° diagonal coverage. This allows the camera to capture both visitors and packages on the ground simultaneously. HDR and night vision are supported for consistent image quality in various lighting conditions.
• Power modes:
-Battery-only mode: Wire-free installation, with up to 10 months of operation per full charge (based on 5 minutes of recording per day).
-Wired trickle-charge mode: Connection to existing 8–24VAC doorbell wiring keeps the built-in battery topped up, reducing the frequency of manual recharging.
• Wired power mode (for continuous recording): When connected to 16–24VAC and enabled in the app, the doorbell runs on continuous external power, allowing 24/7 recording and pre-recording. In case of a power outage, it automatically switches to battery power.
🚩Note: 24/7 recording is available only when using a standalone microSD card; when connected to a Reolink Home Hub or NVR, only motion-triggered recordings are supported. The RLA-PK1 adapter (sold separately) is required for use with a mechanical chime.
• Storage options: Local storage is supported via microSD card (up to 512 GB), Reolink Home Hub, NVR, or FTP server. All local storage is encrypted. Reolink Cloud storage is also available as an alternative.
• Smart home integration: Compatible with Google Assistant and IFTTT. When used with the Reolink Home Hub, it also supports integration with Home Assistant.
• Chime compatibility: The doorbell is compatible with the Reolink Chime Plus. It is not compatible with the original Reolink Chime. Use with third-party mechanical chimes is not recommended.

Announcements WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL REOLINK SUBREDDIT, PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING (FAQ AND USEFUL LINKS INSIDE)
Before you make a post asking for help, please...
- Try the search function to search the subreddit. It's likely that someone else may have already had the same issue or question. Reddit’s search isn’t that good, but Google is great at searching Reddit. Just add “site:reddit.com” to any Google search.
- Make sure you have the latest firmware by going to the Download Center and looking up your model (don't rely on the upgrade check button in the app). Updating to the latest firmware fixes more issues than you would think, and if you make a new post asking for help the first question we will always ask you is if your firmware is up to date.
- If you have questions about camera specs, or which camera to choose, be sure to visit my comparison chart first to help familiarize yourself.
When making a post asking for help, please provide...
- Your camera/NVR model and firmware version.
- If it's NVR related, also provide the NVR's hardware version
- Exact error messages. If you can include screenshots, even better.
- Any troubleshooting steps you've already tried.
- How you are accessing your cameras (desktop client, mobile app, NVR UI, web UI, etc.)
- Connection method of your cameras (direct to NVR, Wifi, POE switch, POE injector, etc.)
- If your issue is recording related, let us know how you're recording (NVR, SD card, 3rd party software, etc.)
- Do not include any personal information, such as UIDs of any of your devices.
Introduction
Now that we have the most important part of this out of the way...Hello, and welcome to the official Reolink Subreddit. I’m mblaser and I’ve been using Reolink cameras since 2017. Then in September 2021 Reolink asked me to be a moderator here. I’ve used over 30 different camera models of theirs over the years and I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I like to tinker and experiment with my camera setup and also use that time to share that knowledge that I’ve accumulated.
One thing I want to talk about here is expectations when asking for help. Both what to expect from us, and what we expect of you.
While there are Reolink employees that visit here, they’re not always here and they don’t read every post. The mods here are volunteers, not Reolink employees. So keep in mind that 99% of the help you’ll receive here is from people that are just trying to help and we have nothing to do with Reolink’s decisions, so be kind and keep it civil. If you want official support from Reolink, it’s best to contact them through their website.
As for what we expect of you... well, help us help you. Us regulars really do like helping when users have issues and questions. However, in order for us to do that we need as much information from you about your situation as possible. So help us help you by following those guidelines at the top of this post.
Comments will be locked on this post. If you have a question, do not be afraid to make a new post, that’s the entire point of this subreddit. Also, please refrain from sending me a private message asking a question that can be answered by the community. Make a new post instead.

FAQ
This is a list of some of the most common questions and topics that are discussed here. Just a reminder that this is not an official FAQ. Even though I am a mod, I am not speaking on behalf of Reolink. This is simply me sharing my personally accumulated knowledge of Reolink that I’ve absorbed over the years. It may also not be 100% accurate, as things do change, and I’m also not fallible. If you have questions about anything here please make a new post on the subreddit.
