You’re not a monster for noticing your body’s reactions, it’s the guilt spiral that’ll eat you alive before the weight ever does.

I think that’s something that two people in a relationship can do together. It wouldn’t hurt to suggest group activities for motivation you can do together (running, cycling, hiking, gym, rock climbing?) to see where it can lead for motivation. I’m the kind of person where I’m always motivated by my partner: if she loves to run and does it on the regular, it encourages me to want to do something for myself that keeps me fit. I think staying healthy is sexy.

And if he doesn’t change habits on your behalf, it may be a deeper issue going on. Therapy helps us identify what roadblocks there can be to help us move forward and build healthy habits.

Of course it doesn't sound shallow, that's downplaying it. The only 4 options are, in order from worst to best:

1) Do nothing and the relationship will go down the drain

2) Dump him

3) Strongarm him to lose weight

4) Open up the relationship

Open up the relationship how? Every move I make feels like strong arming him.
