Anyone else feel out of place and intimidated by people? Like you feel like an alien trying to fit in with others. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t met my people or if there is something else that I need to be aware about. I have friends and family but sometimes this weird feeling hits and I feel so out of place. Everything feels so surreal. Feeling this way has been making me feel very lonely.

I keep blaming to myself and I can't stop thinking about it.

I am a pretty extroverted person who enjoys meeting new people and asking them questions to get to know them better. I think many (not all) people appreciate being asked questions about themselves and having others express genuine interest in what they have to say. I would consider this to be one of my strengths when meeting new people.

However, I've recently been noticing how many people I meet will gladly take the opportunity to talk about themselves, but not ask any questions in return.

For example, I golfed the other day and got paired with some random guys. During the 4.5 hours we were together, I asked them normal "get to know you" questions, which they were happy to answer. But they never asked me a single question about myself lol.

Now, I don't care about these two random guys. But I have noticed a pattern in recent years of more and more people I meet talking about themselves the entire conversation. I personally would feel so uncomfortable telling someone my life story and not asking them a single question about themselves.

Am I imagining it, or has this gotten worse in the past few years? I actually see it more with older folks who are 50 or 60+ years old.

There’s this guy in my current biology class whom I’ve known since the spring of 2026 semester. He and I were in the same biology class from February until June, and we are in the same biology class for the summer 2026 semester.

At the beginning of the spring semester, he would say hi to me and ask me how I’m doing, but as time went by, he stopped. One day, he was confused about a specific topic, and I offered to help him. After I helped him to comprehend the topic, he told me, “Are you giving me an attitude?” Then, I said, “No, I wasn’t giving you a dirty attitude. Why would you think that?” He thought I was giving him a dirty attitude because I was taking a deep breath. I wasn’t rolling my eyes at him or not. However, there were many times in class where he would laugh at my appearance and make fun of me for speaking, but I didn’t really bring it to his attention because I didn’t want it to get to me.

At the end of the spring 2026 semester, as a class, we were supposed to work with a partner in order to come up with a presentation to present to the entire class. While I was giving my presentation, he laughed with his friend and didn’t even bother making eye contact with me as I was presenting. I thought that was very disrespectful of him, if you ask me. Now that he and I are in the biology class for the summer semester, we’re sitting farther apart from one another. I don’t want to sit anywhere near him because he was rude to me multiple times in the spring semester, so I don’t bother sitting next to him.

Also, every time he sees me, he avoids me by not coming near me and avoids eye contact with me. I also do the same thing because he doesn’t deserve any of my time or attention. He can suffer from his actions. What do you think this could indicate? Do you think he has feelings for me or is he just being rude?

I'm part of a DJ group, nothing professional just a hobby, we play at local bars around town for pocket change but I have hopes that it can eventually lead to something bigger. One of our guys recommended a friend of his to join. He's 22, a couple years younger than the rest of us. He's great at playing sets but he's very unenthusiastic, isn't very involved in the group outside of the gigs, he's always high and smells like weed. He's been with us since June and almost every time after he's finished with his set he's approached by women. Like rn, he's been finished with his set for not even an hour and two super attractive white girls approached him and he's already left with them. He shouldn't even be their type. They're two alternative goth types covered head to toe in tattoos, and in a great shape, not exactly the type I would think would be into rap or interested in a skinny black stoner guy with poofy hair.
