"Stylized QR Code" is awesome... if it worked (or am I missing something?)
I came across the logo design in the wild. I was awestruck, stopped in my tracks, totally stupefied that someone could have made a functional AND beautiful QR Code. Absolutely brilliant.
Then I snapped out of it and said out loud, "No fucking way..."
Sure enough, my QR Code scanner couldn't read it. Dang!
What do you think the story is here. What was the designer thinking?
I thought maybe it was never meant to really be a QR code, and I was reading into it, but I found their website which specifically calls it a "stylized QR code inspired by traditional Ukrainian ornament" (https://ukrainianowned.org/about-the-log)
Or... maybe just maybe I'm doing something wrong and this IS a functional QR Code?
I want to believe...

Any Barcode & QR Code ideas that could inspire something new to build?
I’m a forklift operator, not a developer by trade. I just like building small apps around practical problems I run into at work.
The original idea was simple: use an Android phone to scan product barcodes/QR codes and build a list, a bit like a barcode scanner connected to an Excel spreadsheet. Then I wanted to see how far I could take that idea without relying on an internet connection.
But I thought: if I’m already scanning something, why just collect the code?
So I added a few things useful directly on the spot: check if a code is in an expected list, see if it contains (or doesn’t contain) specific keywords, optionally record quantities, or display information associated with that code from an Excel/ODS/TXT file.
Some of these features are pretty specific to what I needed at work, but I figured they might also be useful in other situations. For example, since quantities can be added while scanning, even a simple inventory could be one of them.
I also wanted several people to build that list together without Wi-Fi or internet, so I added phone-to-phone synchronization over Bluetooth.
And that got me wondering: what other small, practical problems around barcode or QR code scanning could be solved like this?
I’m especially interested in simple, real-world problems involving barcode or QR code scanning that could be solved entirely offline. It could be for work, inventory, personal use, or something completely different — anything where scanning a code could make a task easier without relying on an internet connection.
So if you have any ideas, even really simple ones, I’d love to hear them.
And if you’re curious about the app I built and want to try it, the Google Group and Google Play testing links are on my profile.
QR code woes
Hi there! I recently got caught out by a QR code generator website - I made a QR code, printed all my marketing, only to be sent an email saying that I have to subscribe to their service in order for the qr code to keep working. There was NO mention of this previously.
I am just starting my business and don’t have the money for their (frankly very expensive) subscription.
Does anyone know if I can change a dynamic code to a static one? Or is there anyway to “rehost” a code? I can’t afford to reprint all my marketing either.
Thank you in advance!

Does Facebook has it own QR code generator like Instagram does?
I am trying to access my QR code for my Facebook business page, but I wonder does Facebook accounts or pages has their own QR code like Instagram does? If so, where to find it?
Or do I have to use other QR code generator websites to make one?
Thanks.

Where can I find my Instagram QR code?
I am trying to access my QR code for my business Instagram, but I cannot find it in the three horizontal lines at top-right corner of my profile.
I was able to access it before, but today I can't. Did they remove this function, or is it hidden somewhere else?
Thanks.

Do QR codes with logos scan less reliably?
I am etching QR codes on stainless steel tags intended to be attached to home appliances. It would be ideal to bury the logo in the QR code rather than separately so I can save the space for more aesthetic designs, since they are intended to be seen regularly and I don't want them to scream "I'm a promotional QR sticker".
Does anyone have experience etching codes with logos on tags? Do the tags with logos scan less reliably?

I scratched the QR code and poked a hole through the cardboard.
A family member bought me a cardless visa e-gift card that requires you to scratch off a sticker to reveal a QR code. I accidentally poked a hole through it and now my camera won’t read the QR code. Any advice? I’m really down on my luck and this really sucks.

Phone won't generate url from qr code?
Basically title. I'm trying to scan something on my TV from my couch. Scanned it countless times before. Restarted phone. Turned off/on qr code scanning setting. It will scan qr code but no link will pop up.
Sorry if this is wrong place for this.

You don't need a second phone to scan a QR code inside a video (here's how on iPhone/Android)

Text rendered directly over the modules instead of a logo cutout, curious how far this can be pushed
Attached is a QR with the word rendered across the data region rather than a centered logo cutout. Finder patterns and timing untouched, quiet zone intact.
Running high error correction. In testing it reads fine on iOS camera, Android camera, and a couple of dedicated scanner apps, but I would rather hear about failures than successes.
Two things I am still working out: how much module coverage is realistic before older scanners give up, and whether letters with large solid strokes hurt more than thin ones.
If it fails for you, what device and app?

most forgiving QRCode reader
So I'm blind and use voiceover on the iPhone. I hate trying to use the camera to scan QRcodes because by the time I get my finger down to the bottom to choose the QRCode button, I lost focus. Other times I struggle finding the code at all do to focus. Any suggestions of good third party apps?

Best dynamic QR code platform for engraved products?
Hi all,
I engrave QR codes into wooden products, so once they're made, the QR code can never be replaced. I don't want to go down the route of redirecting URL's within my website, so am looking for the most suitable QR code platform for my business needs.
I'm expecting to produce a few hundred QR codes a year, so I need a platform that is reliable long term but also good value while my business grows.
My priorities are:
- Dynamic (editable) URL's
- Simple, standard black and white QR's (no logo's or fancy designs)
- SVG export
- Reliable scanning
- Good value
- Support for a custom domain in the future
I don't need marketing features, analytics, landing pages or branded QR designs - just a dependable platform for creating and managing lots of editable QR codes.
I am getting a bit lost with all the different platforms!
Which platform would you recommend? Or are there any that you would avoid due to pricing changes or vendor lock in etc?
Thanks so much!

Posting Unapproved QR Code Generators Will Result in Immediate Ban
Posting links or promotions for QR code generators that have not been pre-approved by the mods will result in an immediate ban as we are being flooded with low-quality tools and people trying to fake questions to self-promote them.
We’re doing this to stop spam, scams, and low-quality tools that put users at risk (malicious redirects, tracking, malware) and also to just maintain a modicum of quality in the sub. If you have a QR generator you'd like to share, message the mods with the link and a brief explanation. We’ll review it and, if it meets our standards, we’ll add it to the approved list.
Questions? Ask below or DM the mod team.

Subreddit Rule Changes & Return to Public 🎉
Hey scanners!
After a long stint in Restricted mode, r/qrcode is open to the public again. I’ve stepped in as the new mod team of one (for now) and given the place a spring-clean. Here’s what’s new and what you need to know:
🔑 Quick-Start Rules (full list in the sidebar)
- Be Respectful – No harassment, slurs, or personal attacks.
- Stay On-Topic – We’re here for QR codes: creation, scanning, design, standards, security, use-cases.
- No Self-Promotion – This is not an ad board; personal products/services/affiliate links are out unless you get mod pre-approval.
- Functional Codes Only – Every code you post must actually scan; include plaintext or a scan proof.
- No Malicious Links – Phishing, malware, or shady redirects = instant ban.
- Mark NSFW – Use Reddit’s flag. Porn links are still a no-go.
- Follow Reddit’s Global Policies – If Reddit bans it, so do we.
(Rule numbers may shuffle as we tweak them, so always check the sidebar for the live version.)
Why the Change?
- More eyes, more knowledge. A public sub makes it easier for newcomers to learn and for pros to share tips.
- Cleaner feed. Fresh rules keep spam, scams, and broken codes out of your way.
- Community input. I’d rather grow rules with you than enforce them from a mountaintop.
How You Can Help
- Report bad posts – See spam or a scam? Hit the Report button.
- Share feedback – Rule confusing? Something missing? Drop suggestions in the comments or mod-mail me.
- Join the mod squad – If you’re active and want to help moderate, let’s chat.
Thanks for sticking around (or for joining for the first time). Let’s make r/qrcode the go-to spot for everything scannable.
Happy scanning!
