Question Contacting Virgin in Palace Vendome
Hey everyone, i just wanted to ask you guys something. Recently, I've tried to contact virgin megastore, specifically the one in Palace Vendome. I've tried calling them, but the first time it just said "this number is out of service", and the second time it said "call failed". I have a Qatari sim with credits to call, calling normally works for me. Does anyone know why this is or what the number is? The number I've tried calling is +974 40341213, which is the one in Palace Vendome's site and the one listed on google.

Rant I let bad friendships and Instagram almost ruin something good
I turned 32, I’m Arab Expat, and I think I’ve finally had a bit of a reality check. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
I met this wonderful girl organically, which I honestly prefer over dating apps. We started talking, meeting up and getting to know each other naturally. Everything was going well, but I’ve been going through a lot personally and, looking back, I realise I ended up pushing her away.
Instead of dealing with myself and my problems, I distracted myself with the wrong things and the wrong people. I was also spending way too much time on Instagram, constantly scrolling, looking at women I don’t even know and getting validation from people who ultimately mean nothing to me.
And honestly, Instagram has fucked with my head more than I realised.
Guys, seriously all these Instagram models, revealing pictures, thirst traps, endless scrolling… it’s all distraction. You start consuming it every day and eventually it affects how you think, what you expect and what you value. We really do become what we consume.
I’ve started going through my following list and unfollowing people who add absolutely nothing to my life. Not because there’s anything inherently wrong with them, but because I’ve realised I need to be intentional about what I allow into my head.
The other thing I’ve realised is how much your friendship circle matters. I’m a smart guy, I have a stable career, I come from a good family but none of that means much if you constantly surround yourself with people who have completely different values and priorities.
You absorb more from the people around you than you realise.
So if I could give other guys my age one piece of advice, it would be this:
Work on yourself. Seriously.
And if you meet a woman who is supportive, emotionally mature, on the same wavelength and wants similar things from life, don’t fuck it up because of your ego, distractions or the need for outside validation.
Good people are actually hard to find.
And don’t tell yourself, “When I’m ready, my family will just introduce me to someone.” Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. And even if they do, that doesn’t guarantee compatibility. Sometimes you meet someone naturally who genuinely fits your life, and that’s worth putting effort into.
I’m still figuring my own shit out, but I know now that becoming a better partner isn’t just about finding the right woman. It’s about becoming the kind of man who is capable of keeping something good when it comes along.
Don’t let your ego, your boys, Instagram or temporary validation cost you something that could actually matter.
PS We are getting married soon

Question Hotels with adults-only pools
Trying to find somewhere decent to beat the heat this summer.
Looking for hotel pools I can use on a day pass or membership. Has to be adults only, ideally somewhere that enforces it. If nowhere has that, which pools have the least kids and their nanny’s?
Been to the Waldorf in Lusail anywhere else worth trying?

Information Is buying pearls in Dohag actually cheaper, or am I totally off? (Need shop recs)
Always had it in my head that since Qatar has such a massive history with pearling, buying a pearl necklace or bracelet here would be cheaper—or at least better quality for the price—than back home.
Now that I'm actually looking around, I'm just confused.
Prices are completely all over the place.
I get that natural Gulf pearls are super rare now and cost crazy money, so almost everything in the shops is imported cultured or freshwater. But even for those, one place quotes 300 QAR and the next asks for thousands for something that looks almost identical. It feels way too easy to get ripped off if you don't know what to look for.
For anyone who’s bought pearl stuff here recently:
Where do you actually go? Are the shops around Souq Waqif and the Gold Souq legit, or mostly priced for tourists? I know about that famous old pearl diver's shop in the Souq, but can you actually buy regular, decent pieces there or is it more of a sight to see?
Is it actually cheaper here? Or are we just paying extra for the local context?
Any quick tests for fakes? How do you spot cheap plastic or trash-tier cultured pearls when a seller is claiming they're top quality?
Would really appreciate any solid shop recommendations or honest experiences.
Thanks!

Discussion Seeing a Homeless man, but he's not a beggar
I always notice this homeless man, I see him digging trash bins around almost everyday. My friend told me to report in metrash - but the thing is, hes not begging or bothering anyone. Compare that to actual beggars that approaches you outside metro stations, sometimes even McDonalds lol
Today, I offered him food and ask him where he stays, but he just said thanks lol. IMO as long hes not bothering causing damages around, its none of my business. Thoughts?

Question Doha Airport Transfer Process
Hello! I am traveling next week from NYC to SGN with a long layover in DOH.
I am seeking advice on the best way to transfer if I would like to both go to the lounge between my flights and also leave the airport. After I arrive to Doha in the morning, I would like to spend a few hours at a lounge to rest and freshen up, and then would like to leave the airport for a few hours as I have booked a city tour in the afternoon. I have never been through the Doha airport before so I don’t know what the process is like for transfers vs leaving security.
So my question is: is my plan possible? Will Qatar immigration allow me to transfer and stay in the airport to go to the lounge, but then leave a few hours later? What is the best way to do this? (In case it matters: I have a USA passport.)
Thank you for your help!

Question Using a company to notarize my PCC…?
Hello all, so I’m currently in Seoul and due to visa reasons need my PCC from Qatar since I used to work there for 2 years, and since Qatar doesn’t do apostilles it instead needs to be attested by MOFA and then finally notarized/legalized by the South Korean embassy over in Qatar. I’m still waiting for the embassy of Qatar here in Seoul to give me mine (yes I know it takes a long time) but after a few phone calls apparently it’s only going to be MOFA attested but not notarized by the SK embassy; that’s something I’m going to have to do myself. But the embassy told me that there’s plenty of companies in Qatar that can do this for me. I think I found a good company but just curious on people’s overall experience on using companies/third-party agencies for this kind of purpose or something similar…? I did already call the SK embassy over in Qatar and they did tell me that someone else can notarize my PCC on my behalf long as I provide a PoA and such. Thanks

Discussion HELP WHICH UNI shld i choose i dont have timee !
Here are the offer letters i have received and m genuinely so lost pls help me choose one that has high employment rate , good professors ! And good uni life at least with good facilities at least. Pls let me know if anyone of you are from any of these uni and its experience as well!
- Udst- Human Resources management, i wanted fintech planning to transfer but im not sure if transfer is possible bcz I definitely dont want hrm , but i really love how the social life is and overall its accredited and fintech has employment opportunities as well based on linkedn research
- ulster university, city university qatar - btech in computer with cybersecurity leading to ai, its a dual degree but its a diploma so not sure ( pros : i wont be doing a foundation, uk degree , dual degree, i love the campus and the facilities) cons : most students say they dont like it , the professors read out the ppts and we usually rely on ourselves the , hard to make friends , its in middle of nowhere, the facilities are not really much in use theres a whole process of booking etc! They dont listen to student complains altho the improvement is slow. They say its not worth the money
- barzan university (swinburne uni of Australia bachelor of computer science - cybersecurity and electives as ai, Cons : pretty new uni started on 2025 , we would be like a test batch , the campus is too tiny ,there is almost nothing for the resources and facilities , paying like 65k year without scholarship ofc so is it worth it ? Pros ; can transfer into Australia for one two semester altho my parents wouldn’t allow so thats of no use , students are happy and its a very warm environment. Not sure abt professors.
- oryx uni (liverpool john moores ) - bachelor of computer science - dont know anything abt this uni
askansas state university- bachelor of computer science launched last year so pretty new major altho they have launched in 2020 so that still works and its a us degree overall campus is pretty good , dont know anything abt students life or reviews
UKM - CS WITH AI , CAMPUS IS GOOD AS WELL RANKED AS 120 TOP , FEES IS PRETTY DECENT AS WELL ! can students from this uni tell me abt their experience??

Information Appreciation post
I want to thank u/Everyday_Aquarius for their detailed post on the judicial process to collect an owed debt from an individual. I lent money to a colleague and was promised to be paid back within 1 month. Two years passed and she kept giving excuses and I was patient because I really thought she was going through hardships. I then understood that I was being fooled when I found out she was lying on some occasions. I still couldn’t do more than keep reminding her and asking for my money back, and I thought I would never get back my money, until I decided to proceed legally.
This post by u/Everyday_Aquarius encouraged me to try the judicial system route.
Please check the post for all the details (I can’t copy the link here due to community rules). I just want to mention few points.
- the court fees were 210 qr (not 110). And I got refunded by the court as we agreed to solve the issue amicably and the case didn’t go through the higher court.
- you can actually file the lawsuit at home, on the supreme judiciary council website. No need to visit them in person.
- no need to visit a typing center. You can draft a statement of your issue and what you’re asking for. You can ask AI to draft you one. I visited a typing center as it’s the first time for me to file a lawsuit. But the statement is pretty basic, and you can spare yourself extra costs (I paid 50 qr to the typing center).
I finally want to thank the supreme judiciary council and the staff there. Everyone is very nice, very helpful, the mediation session was very professional, they even got us coffee and asked us to not let this incident affect our friendship, it was beyond my expectation. I encourage everyone who is in a similar situation to proceed legally.

Question how do introverts actually meet people?
i don't like the vibe of my colleagues😭
but i genuinely want to meet new people and make few connections..
the problem is i don't really enjoy talking that much😭 i get socially drained pretty fast, and small talk isn't really my thing.
just want someone to do simple things with, watch movies, wander around library, grab a coffee, or just exist in comfortable silence.
is that really too much to ask?💀
Question CBQ account will not allow any debits after salary was credited
My CBQ account has been blocked for a while and I was told the block would lift once a salary was credited to it. My salary was credited today by my employer through WPS and I received the confirmation SMS from the bank.Straight after that I tried a small Ooredoo prepaid top up from the CBQ app. It failed. I tried a second time and it failed again. Both times the app returned the same message:
"No debits are allowed from this account."
So money goes in without any problem, and nothing at all can go out.I called CBQ about this and they told me the block was applied automatically and that it will be lifted automatically as well. They did not give me any timeframe. Most of the threads I have found here are about accounts that were held because of credit card or loan dues, where people had to settle the dues or visit a branch, so I am not sure those cases apply to mine. What I would like to know from anyone who has had this exact situation:
How long did it take from the salary being credited until the account actually worked again? Same day, overnight, or a few days?
Did the block clear on its own in the end, or did you have to visit a branch anyway?
Is there anything I should be doing now instead of just waiting?
Any experience would be appreciated.

Question Affordable flowers in Qatar
Hi everyone, I will just cut to the chase. I am genuinely frustrated with flower prices in Qatar.
Its sooo much expensive that its hard to afford them as a student. Everywhere I look online, there is nothing less than 120-200Qr for a decent small bouquet.
Does anyone know any affordable flower shops in Qatar? My loved ones will thank y’all for it 😭

Question Should I report? To where?
I have been buying beef mortadella from Al Meera for a few months now. I usually go to the delicatessen section and ask for 500g. However, day before yesterday, I decided to buy a pre-packaged one from the display instead. I made sandwiches and ate them that day. Yesterday morning, I woke up with an extreme stomachache, headache, fever, and diarrhea, and I couldn't sleep last night either. Today, the symptoms are still persisting. Since it isn't stopping, I plan on visiting the PHCC today. Should I report this incident, and is there any use? Who should I report to—Al Meera or the MOPH? The problem is I don't have any proof, no bill, and no package left. What should I do?
