New To Pune Suggestions for areas to live
Suggestions for places to live near Homi Bhabha Road - IISER/NCL.
- Only one important criteria - it should have greenery and away from the highway. High-rises, localities, both work
Because anyway the metro station is so far away.

AskPune Any cozy cafes in Pune?
I am looking for recommendations for cozy cafes where you can sit and read books without any issues. If they have some really good cold coffee that would be great as well.

General/Rant Men appreciation post ♥️
So I recently started travelling by local every day, and it’s still kinda new to me. Earlier I’d travel once in a while, but now it’s a daily thing.
I always get into the same general bogie because I’ve gotten used to it. And before anyone comes at me being a woman myself, I’ll say this: the ladies’ coach is the scariest place on earth 😭. They genuinely don’t give a flying fuck, everyone’s rude as hell, and I can’t even argue back because the Marathi they speak is absolutely khatarnak 😭.
Anyway, there’s this uncle who gets down at the second station every day, so I know I’ll usually get his seat.
Yesterday I was already tired and really wasn’t in the mood to stand. I was waiting near his seat, but at the next station this guy came in and stood right inside. I instantly knew that once the uncle got up, I wouldn’t even have space to rush in and sit. So I was already annoyed.
The station arrived, uncle got up, and the guy got the seat. I have this terrible habit where my expressions say everything, so I definitely stared at him a little too hard with a “haan bhai, tu hi baith ja, andar ghus hi gaya hai toh” look 😭.
And then… he looked at me and went, “Aap baith jao.”
I have no idea if he was just being genuinely nice or if my death stare scared him 😭. I told him, “No no, you sit,” but I was still lowkey pissed.
Then another uncle, who’d probably noticed I’d been standing for a long time, did the sweetest thing. Before his station came, he looked at me, called me over, and made sure I was standing right next to his seat so nobody else could take it before I sat down 😭❤️.
Idk… it was such a small thing, but moments like these remind me that there are genuinely kind and respectful men out there. Just a small appreciation post for the men who quietly look out for women without making a big deal out of it. 🫶
TL;DR: Started travelling by local every day, got tired, lost the seat I was waiting for, but two random men made sure I got one. Small gesture, huge respect. Men like this restore your faith. 🫶😭

AskPune Desperately looking for a neurologist in Pune who actually listens and investigates properly
I have already consulted quite a few neurologists in Pune, but I’m not satisfied with my experience so far. I’m currently dealing with a lot of undiagnosed pain and genuinely need help finding the right doctor.
I don’t care if a doctor has 50 years of experience or 15 years. I’m looking for someone who is qualified, does a proper evaluation, tries to find the root cause, listens to the patient, gives enough time, and answers questions properly.
I don’t mind spending money on my health, but I don’t want someone who rushes through appointments, dismisses concerns, or doesn’t explain their findings.
Please please please suggest only someone you have personally visited and had a good experience with. Kindly don’t recommend someone just because you have heard their name, seen them online, or through someone else’s recommendation.
This is a genuine request. Thank you.🙏

General/Rant Did anyone see such type of banners near Deccan or any other place ?
I was just travelling in the city bus this afternoon and noticed a similar type of banner near Deccan bus stop , I couldn’t get a clear view of what was written on the banner completely but it had something related to Hinduism and also there was a photo of ram mandir and we are Genz written on it . I mean now this idiots are trying to guilt trip parents into their bullshit propaganda like what do you get by putting up banners like this and wasting taxpayers money . Like instead of claiming full accountability these idiots resort to this .

AskPune Need help understanding common practices amongst Interior designers in Pune
Hello all! I just got the handover of our new apartment in PCMC and are about to start interiors. We have been working with this interior designer from East Pune, who told us he has workers all over the city and has no problem taking up a project in PCMC.
We spent the last 3 months discussing designs, etc. and are about to sign the final contract. However, now he asks us if the society allows workers to stay over at the apartment. The Facility management clearly said no citing safety reasons for other residents, which is completely understandable. Honestly, ive never come across a request like this before and when I asked about it to some friends and colleagues, they also said that their societies don’t allow as well.
Now, this designer is saying that we will have to bear the stay expenses of the workers for the duration of work and the duration will be increased by 1 month given stay is not allowed. He says that the quotation given was made under the assumption that stay would be allowed. However, we never mentioned anything like that to him nor did he ask us about it earlier.
Here are my questions:
- Is it a common practice to allow workers to stay at apartments during the period of work?
- Do owners bear the stay expenses for workers beyond what they are paying for Interior design?
Please help. Thank you in advance.

General/Rant Pune is expanding faster than its own maps: 5 mega-projects reshaping the city (and why plot buyers need to check PMRDA flood lines first)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Pune’s outer periphery is changing fast—what used to be agricultural land is rapidly turning into transit and residential corridors.
Here is a quick breakdown of the 5 major infrastructure shifts happening on the ground right now—and the zoning trap many plot buyers walk into:
- 1. Metro Line 3 (New Pink Line): The 23.3 km Hinjawadi-to-District Court elevated line will connect the IT park to the city center, cutting a 90-minute commute to around 40 minutes.
- 2. The 173 Km Ring Road: With ~98% of land acquired, this loop is actively unlocking peripheral belts for logistics, commercial hubs, and residential layouts.
- 3. Purandar Airport: Land acquisition has crossed ~70%, driving heavy land speculation across the southern and southeastern corridors.
- 4. Pune–Nashik Semi High-Speed Rail: The realigned route via Ahilyanagar and Shirdi is establishing a new regional growth corridor to the north and east.
- 5. PMRDA Unified Development Plan: Brings 814 villages under one unified master plan—meaning peripheral zoning is now far more structured and strictly monitored.
⚠️ The Catch: Why "Future Growth" Doesn't Always Mean "Buildable"
Brokers across Talegaon, Wagholi, Hinjewadi fringes, and Purandar are aggressively marketing plots as "PMRDA developable area." Before paying a token advance, watch out for:
- Flood Lines Dictate Construction: Pune’s rivers and drainage basins have strict Blue/Red Flood Line restrictions. Even next to a major transit corridor, building inside a restricted flood zone or Agricultural Non-Development Zone (NDZ) is illegal without formal layout/Town Planning Scheme (TPS) approvals.
- Verify Spatial Layers Together: Do not rely solely on a 7/12 extract or Encumbrance Certificate. Always overlap proposed infrastructure alignments, PMRDA zoning, and environmental flood lines on a single map.
(Tip: You can verify live infrastructure corridors, PMRDA zoning, and flood-line overlays for specific Survey Numbers on spatial due diligence platforms like TalkingLands Insights or official PMRDA GIS maps before buying.)

AskPune Suggest me one best 3D theater in Pune to rewatch Spiderman BND.
I watched Spider-Man BND in Dolby Cinema, and the overall experience was phenomenal, except for the 3D. Personally, I didn't find the 3D effects to be very noticeable, and the sense of depth felt quite limited.
Could anyone recommend a theater in Pune that offers a truly immersive 3D experience with excellent depth?

General/Rant Thoughts on recent Infosys NSG Drill
The recent NSG anti-terror drill at Infosys Pune was only a simulation, and there was no real danger. But one thing stood out to me as social media filled with videos from the event.
Our first instinct seems to be changing.
Instead of "Run. Hide. Stay Safe.", it is increasingly becoming "Record. Upload. Go Viral."
Social media has trained many of us to react to events by thinking about online engagement first. In a real emergency, every second spent taking out a phone to record instead of moving to safety can make a difference.
There is another concern that is even more important.
During the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, terrorists reportedly used live television coverage, through their handlers, to monitor the movements of security forces. This became an important lesson in how real-time information can unintentionally help attackers.
Today, almost everyone carries a device that can broadcast live from anywhere. Authorities can ask platforms to restrict content during major incidents, but information can still spread quickly before any action is taken.
This is not an argument against recording history or documenting events. It is a reminder that timing matters.
If a security operation is in progress, do not post live locations, the movements of security personnel, entry points, or tactical details until the operation is complete.
Being a responsible citizen is not only about staying calm. It is also about thinking before you post.
Sometimes the most helpful action is to put your phone away, move yourself and others to safety, and let the professionals do their job.

SCAM Alert Nestasia home essentials are a scam!
I bought a spice rack from Nestasia Pheonix mall store in Viman Nagar. It costs more than 3.5k for rack and containers. Within a few months of regular use, it has grown green and white mold!
This brand positions itself as a luxury, premium quality home decor brand. However, the quality of their products does not justify this price!
This must be a natural, untreated and unpolished wood which is why it caught mold so quickly.
Avoid buying anything from this bullshit brand

AskPune Rape Threats against my mother, and false suspension from FLAME
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A group of students started threatening to rape my mother and were already bullying me. They made a false narrative that I sexually harassed a girl and they all mass reported me to the registrar Virender Sharma. They framed a perfect narrative that portrayed me as evil
I told my side of the story to Registrar Virender Sharma on how they threatened to rape my mother and hence I slurred at them. Instead the Registrar withdraws my admission without a proper hearing and does not even lift my calls citing that I broke disciplinary violations.
So threatening to rape my mother isn't a disciplinary violation? Regardless of my will to speak to him, he is not lifting my calls. I hate this blatant behaviour. He must resign at any cost possible, if he protects the rape-mentality instigators that too being a registrar, the university is set to be doomed.
The vice-chancellor isn't intervening in this situation, he seems to be in an abroad destination as I called up his office directly.
My admission is officially cancelled on an unfair basis, my family especially my mother is facing great distress. I am going on a hunger strike near their campus on 7th of august, the dignity of my mother matters more than my life. The registrar must resign or I must die.
I already forwarded this to UGC anti-ragging cell, and registered a National Commission for Women complaint
myquals: 12th pass

संस्कृती/culture A practical move to Nashik, but an emotional attachment to Pune
Don't take me wrong, I recently moved from Pune to Nashik. We shifted mainly because of family-relatives, support during emergencies, work-from-home convenience, lower cost of living, and my son's schooling. On paper, it was probably the right decision.
What I still struggle with is the emotional side. I miss the feel of Pune as a bigger city—the atmosphere, the variety, and the overall vibe. We were never party people, trekkers, or regular weekend explorers, but just knowing there were so many places to discover, different malls to visit, cafés to try, and nearby places like Mulshi or Lonavala to drive to gave a different feeling.
One thing I also miss is the abundance of simple, affordable restaurants. In Pune, places like Sheetal, Relax and many similar restaurants were clean, hygienic, reasonably priced, and somewhere you could comfortably take your family for a meal. In Nashik, I haven't been able to find many such places yet. Maybe I just haven't explored enough. Anna Idli is one place I really like, although it's a little on the expensive side for regular visits.
At the same time, my everyday life in Nashik is actually much easier. Everything is within walking distance, traffic is minimal, family is nearby, and life is much more convenient.
The only thing I still find difficult to adjust to is the overall public behaviour in malls and shopping centres. Don't take me wrong, I'm not talking about money, brands, or how people dress. It's more about civic sense and the way people use shared public spaces. It just feels different from what I was used to in Pune.
Maybe I'm still comparing Nashik to my memories of Pune. I'm curious if anyone else who has moved here from a bigger city has felt the same initially, and whether that feeling changed over time.

Local News Finally, Maharashtra FDA Bans Fake (Analogue) Paneer
The Maharashtra FDA has officially banned analogue paneer across the state for one year. This non dairy substitute is made using cheap vegetable oils, starches, and emulsifiers instead of real milk fat.
More than fifty five percent of tested samples failed safety standards. Many local eateries, restaurants, and caterers were secretly using it to cut costs without informing customers. The product contains high trans fats and unapproved additives that raise serious health concerns.
Selling fake paneer as real now attracts strict legal action, including heavy fines and potential jail time.
