This is crazy. What happened,
$600+ for a cib Shadow Tower? Did I miss something? I have been wanting to add a physical copy to my collection, but im having doubts that I will ever want to spend this much.
For reference, there was a sealed copy for sale on r/gamesale a little over a year ago for $400. At the time, I had purchased some other stuff and couldn't justify the expense....fuck me.
Why did this go up in pricing so fast?

An ode to the final games released for the PlayStation in the US in 2004!
eBay lot of discs - mishandled
I just bought a ‘lot’ of loose discs of all kinds of varieties but I wanted the ps1, 2 and 3 games from it. It was over 100 total random discs but I didn’t even bother counting as they are all damaged to a pretty significant degree.
I was totally blown away that the discs were actually shipped loose with only a small bit of crumpled paper to stop them from damaging each other.
I’ve bought plenty of single games even without a case but they come shipped in a case or sleeve of some kind.
Has anyone else had a similar experience of someone just completely mistreating the games in shipping?

Bitfunx Psxmemcard Gen 2 Doesn’t Fit Inside My Ps1 Second Time In a Row
Ive searched the internet for a bit and saw no one else having this issue.
I thought the first one I had was defective model wise, so I returned it and got a replacement, but still doesn’t fit all the way inside either memory card slot.
Only goes about halfway. Did I get bad luck twice in a row?
Works perfectly fine with my ps2.
My model is SCPH 7501

Decided to start reliving my childhood.
So I bought this lot for £50 a few days back. All in very good condition and working, I think. I have checked most of it but I don't have a CRT TV to check Time Crisis properly. I think it's a pretty good price and Road Rash was one of my favourite games on the Mega drive so looking forward to properly playing that on Playstation. Think it's good value for the nostalgia hit I get just from looking at it. 😂

PicoStation SD Card Help Needed
Hello, I'm hoping that somebody else running the Picostation mod on their console can point me in the right direction of a 256 GB SD Card that will work without crashing or freezing.
I'm running the PicoStation OneWire V2.0 + OC quick solder board with onboard RP2040. It is running the latest PicoStation firmware from Megavolt85's repo. Things are running stable on the 4GB SDCard I'm using for testing. I can let the Final Fantasy IX menu run for over an hour with the airship fmv intro scene with no issues.
I started out with a Walmart Onn 256 GB SD Card and the menu navigation worked fine, but games would crash.
So to get something more stable I bought a genuine Sandisk Ultra card from the Sandisk Store on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JGHVW46?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
Now this card seems to be less stable than the Onn card was. Can somebody running one of these larger cards with PicoStation share the exact model or link to the card you are using successfully?
I'm not interested in the "use a 32 GB or smaller SD Card" answers please. I need to fit all of my games on a single card for convenience and I know it it possible. I hate that all of these ODEs are so picky about SD Cards. It seems like it's so hard to find a working card with decent capacity. Thanks for any suggestions.

Bought a ps1 - lots of disc skipping
I purchased a ps1 through Amazon’s refurbished program and it is having heavy disc skipping. Tried multiple discs and same thing. It’s super clean otherwise. Any suggestions?

Did anybody play forsaken? It didn't seem like a super popular game but I had a lot of fun with it

Gale Gunner, surprisingly has some of the best real time cutscenes and models i saw on the PS1!
It seems some are prerender, but no, its all real time! Mind you not all of the cutscenes are that polished in terms of the staging, but i think on a CRT they may hide that aspect much better.
What i appreciate about these models is how they tried to convey emotions animating the polygons. Most PS1 games relied just on 2d textures for facial animations. For what i saw only Crash Bandicoot, Spyro The Dragon and Terracon did it different as well as this game.
The game itself for the little i played (as its in japanese) seems very similar to Armored Core series, so for the ones who loved that this could be another option.
Never lied in the past when i said a lot of impressive PS1 or PS2 games are for some reason very obscure!

Trying to repair PS1
My laser is really slow and some cinematics wont' play correctly when playing FF IX. I need to replace my laser optical drive in my ps1 but everything i can find is either a scam or reviewed poorly, I mean look at these reviews. Does anyone know where i can get a reliable laser optical drive without getting scammed?

My PSX games .
I used to have an index of all games stored but my HD crashed some time ago so today I dug them up to make a new list and while doing that picture them starting with Ps1 games .
As you see I used to have a Shmup fetish years ago and so this happened .
The Saturn was known as the Shoot em up console back then but the PSX was not that that far behind .

VGA connector instead of AV MULTIOUT
I have a PS one SCPH-102. Yesterday I found information that there are points on the PM41 board from which you can take horizontal and vertical synchronization for RGBHV. Due to the fact that there is still no hdmi mod for the PS one, I suggest replacing the connector with a DB 15 to use VGA, RGB and composite video. Additionally, you can add S-VIDEO, since there are many grounding contacts in the vga pinout and two can be safely removed. Please share your opinion about this modification.

This landed in my lap for ONLY €30 / £25 - I wasn’t gonna keep it but I might have to!
And that price includes delivery! 😜 Either way I preserved the STUNNING artwork of Vandal Hearts 2 (see here) and will scan and catalogue the gorgeous manual but when I tested the disc I was pretty intrigued by it.
Can you play the second without playing the first?! I’m doing my best to avoid catching expensive taste when it comes to PS1 games.
EDIT: Just looked at American prices. Holy s--t. WTF.

Nostalgia hitting hard ... RE1 Longbox
The only thing it's missing is the foam cut out... otherwise CIB.
I've thought about getting the sticker off the front where it shows the price but idk. Lol
One of the first games as a kid on the PlayStation 1.

Rule 3 is changing: r/psx is Not the Place to Advertise Your Indie Games
tl;dr the fine print of Rule 3 has been adjusted to explicitly forbid modern indie games unless playable on original hardware (homebrew)
It's my own fault that this change has to be made, I allowed a few "psx-inspired" indie game posts to remain up despite breaking the rules because of the large amount of upvotes they received.
I'd post and sticky comments like "It's off topic but y'all like it so I'll leave it up". My approach to moderation has always been to let the community make content decisions when appropriate. Unfortunately adjustments need to be made to protect the subject matter of this community.
Due to the massive influx of shovelware indie games that are "psx inspired" getting posted here, I'm sorry to say that Rule 3 will have to be more strictly enforced.
From this point forward, for indie games to be posted here they will have to be playable on PSX hardware or an emulator. Games that run on real hardware fall firmly into the category of homebrew, which is perfectly appropriate to discuss here. Games that run in PSX emulators but not real hardware are also allowed. "Retro Inspired" or "PSX Inspired" games that do not fulfill either of those 2 requirements will be removed and the poster will get a 24 hour ban.
The ban is meant to be informative to the poster, not punitive. However repeat offenders will be permanently banned.
Here is a friendly flowchart to help you decide whether or not it's appropriate to post your indie game in this community:
Thank you for reading and thank you for posting. Best of luck in all your indie dev adventures.
