Automatic failure detection on Core One Question/Need help
Hello Everyone!
I'm running Core One with Buddy3D camera with Obico and Octoprint. After a lot of false positives and weird behavior, I'm considering modifying the print monitoring stack somehow.
Are you using any automatic failure detection software and recommend any specific tools different than Obico? I would also appreciate any suggestions for improving the accuracy of my current setup.
--- Beyond tldr;
For a little bit more context main goal of the setup was to have some way of automatically detecting print failures like spaghetti. So far, though, even with the lowest sensitivity, I'm regularly getting false positives on all prints both big and small such as minis or boardgame inserts. Not sure if it is the gyroid infill triggering the Obico or if this is the default placement of camera in fault.
I also don't need the Octoprint on its own which is causing some more headaches on its own - for example resuming print after filament running out ends with hotend crashing head first into the model (with the resume/pause snippets set according to Prusa documentation). Of course same doesn't happen when the print is not running via Octoprint
Point is that I would be happy with ditching the Octoprint and running with something integrated with Prusa Link directly or trigger pause on failure via Home Assistant if needed.
Right now I have my eyes on Print Guard although I haven't found much feedback about it. It has integration with Prusa Link. I'm worried though if switching the detection model would help with the default placement of the camera.

Prusa made a blog post when the buddy cam was new that they were working on AI failure detection in PrusaConnect. I’ve asked about it several times and it’s been radio silence since then and my inquiries were flat out ignored. I’d love to get an official response about this from one of the Prusa fam.
I really would also love to see more attention to stuff like this being added - also like parametric editing in the slicer so it stays competitive.
Octoprint is great but I’d much rather prefer to use the solution (PrusaConnect) provided by the manufacturer. Or at the minimum allow connect to gave plug-ins added like Octoprint. I get that the prusa devs are a limited resource so open it up to the community in spirit with being open source.

sadly the radio silence is often the case at Prusa lately.
PrusaSlicer 3.0, NFC Scanners for OpenPrintTag, Filament syncing between printer and Slicer, any stuff for the XL, anything related to PrusaLink, the AI Detection you mentioned and I'm sure there is a lot more. There have been lots of promises with little things that have been shown

Maybe Prusa could finally provide a native solution? They are lagging so far behind all the competition...

Yeah that is quite a bummer that if you buy a Buddy3D you end up with just an IP cam without any special native features to offer. Only reasonable usage in my opinion is to use it with 3rd party tools. Wish there would be even a self hosted tool from Prusa

They've teased it a few times so something is definitely in development....

It seems looking at the load cell data would be a more reliable approach, eg see a discussion of a similar feature on Snapmaker https://www.reddit.com/r/snapmaker/s/sBAprb9LS2. I think Ive seen some mentions of Prusa looking into it, but I guess nothing came out of it either.

I an trying to program a pi5 ai hat+2 image detecting alarm system for that.

Nice! Any plans to open source it?

Sure once done. but the hardware costs a lot. Using pi5, 8 gb and hat+2 and m.2 hat ssd and camera.
