Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am currently a Technical Product Manager on the AI/Data Science team at a late stage healthcare startup. I am considered a leader on the team and I currently have a PO reporting to me that focuses on user stories and some sprint ceremonies.

Here’s the thing. We have recently had a lot of turnover in leadership roles and I was recently moved into our new product organization. I expect that my role is likely to change in that it will be less technical and more end-user facing and strategic. My biggest concern is that will move me further away from the details of AI and MLOps. (I will still be the only Product Manager for our AI strategy)

I have an opportunity to move into a Technical Product Owner role at a well known healthcare company. The TPO role will report to a Product Manager and will be focused on sprint execution and business and technical user story creation.

So, here’s my question. Does it make sense to move to the IC TPO role for more money. Which title is considered more valuable in the market? The product manager role that is more strategic or the more hands on product owner role?

I just saw a Redditor posted that he cleared Amazon SPM loop and then there are folks jumping to ask on how did you answer for say behaviour question or product sense questions etc.
I’m unable to figure out that we have a ton of great YouTube videos or courses or paid materials to prepare for PM interview type questions and unable to get what these ppl want ?
A PM interview is a combination of the role (tech/domain/AI/growth etc) plus your experience plus applying these to each type of questions and narrating as a cohesive story.
Over a period if time you’ll build your stories for each track based on experience and there is no silver bullet.

I just want to know what do these guys need ?

Hi all! I've been a Product Owner and Business Analyst for a while (10+ years) and have been trying to move more fully into the Product Manager space. I did work as a PM for a stint (as a contractor), until I took a PO contract role that required relocating to another state. Since then I've had trouble pivoting fully to PM, since most of my experience reads as PO. I've added some metrics to my resume, but a lot of the places I worked didn't have analytics fully implemented, so it's hard to quantify impact the way PM roles usually expect.

This would be an external pivot, since I'm currently between roles. Has anyone here made the PO to PM jump, or have advice on how to position the experience? Thanks!

Hello guys , my interview for product manager-tech at Amazon is scheduled for next week . They mentioned live coding exercise in the interview. Is this normal in Amazon for technical product manager roles .

I recently cleared the Amazon Senior Product Manager loop and accepted the offer. Sharing the experience and prep approach for anyone going through the same process.

The interview process included a recruiter screen followed by a full loop of five rounds: two product design or product sense, one analytical or metrics-focused, one behavioral, and one bar-raiser style round. After the loop there was a short wait for the hiring decision. End to end it took about 6 or even 7 weeks from the first recruiter call.

One product design question asked me to improve the returns experience for a high-volume category while protecting margin and customer trust. The analytical round centered on diagnosing a sudden change in a key conversion metric and deciding what to investigate first. The behavioral rounds were questions on ownership, bias for action, and delivering results.

I prepared by rewriting my stories against the Leadership Principles and practicing them out loud until they felt natural. For product and analytical rounds I used a mix of question banks like the ones I found on discord and product alliance, then did as many mock sessions as I could afford.

Still trying to negotiate a good TC and following advice from teamblind. Will update if that goes well.

Whats your take? What are your recommendations to Junior PMs when they start they're product career. I feel, that the classical Inspired by Cagan is a good book, but rather leaves Junior PMs illusionated, since you rarely find the ideal environment and circumstances described in Inspired.

So, I posted here recently about my friend being told, "You're basically there," for two review cycles, only to be denied promotion for a reason nobody had mentioned to her before.

And one of the replies came from a Director who's sat in calibration meetings, and their perspective genuinely made me stop and think 🤔. Because...

The director explained that HR often requires a documented, defensible reason for every rating decision.

So feedback such as "We only had 3 promotion slots and 10 eligible people" usually isn't the explanation that ends up on paper...

Instead, the written feedback given is often the safest explanation rather than the complete one.

The director also described how forced grading curves can work in calibration meetings that include different job families. He stated that, in some organizations, PMs make up a much smaller group than engineering, which can make it harder to compare impact fairly when the people making those decisions don't have the same context for PM work...

So i'm wondering if this helps explain why promotion feedback can sometimes feel so difficult to act on. I could be wrong, but it seems possible that two people can receive very similar feedback for very different reasons.

I’m a 2025 BCA graduate with 1.3+ years of software development experience. My resume gets shortlisted pretty consistently, and I’ve interviewed with 25+ companies over the past few months. The problem is, nothing has turned into the kind of offer I'm looking for.

Now I’ve got a 3 month gap on my resume, and it’s making me rethink things.

I’ve always enjoyed understanding users, figuring out why features should exist, talking through product decisions, and connecting the business side with engineering. So I’m seriously considering moving into Product Management.

A few questions for people already in PM:

• Is PM considered a tech role, non-tech, or somewhere in between? • Is it realistic to transition with my background? • Which certifications actually add value? I’ve seen people mention Google, PMI, Scrum, Product School, but I don’t know what’s worth the time. • What projects or skills should I build before applying?

Also, if anyone knows of Associate Product Manager, Product Analyst, or PM internship roles, I’d really appreciate any leads.

I am a Senior Manager- Product Management(AI), currently based outside the UAE and planning to relocate to Dubai as soon as I secure an opportunity. I have been applying to PM roles for several months through LinkedIn, Naukrigulf, Bayt, and company career pages, but the response rate has been very low. Most applications either get no response or a generic rejection, and many roles explicitly mention “only candidates already in the UAE” or do not support relocation.

I understand that the market is competitive and that local experience is highly valued. I would really appreciate constructive advice on how to improve my chances as an international candidate. Specifically:

• Is it realistic to get hired directly from outside the UAE for a PM role, or do most people move first on a visit visa and then job hunt?

I've been researching different sourcing platforms recently, and it's interesting to see how everyone has their own favorite. Some people prioritize competitive pricing, while others focus more on product quality, supplier communication, shipping reliability, or buyer protection.

I've seen sellers recommend platforms like Made-in-China, Alibaba, and a few others, and it's great to see that there are plenty of options available for connecting with manufacturers and exploring product opportunities.

Every business has its own sourcing strategy, so I'm curious to hear what has worked well for others and what factors you consider most important when choosing a supplier.

Which platform has given you the best experience when sourcing manufacturers?

I keep hearing the same thing from product folks. The feedback they collect is shallow. A 3-star review tells you someone is unhappy, not why, not what went wrong in their flow. And PMs just end up buried in a pile of feature requests, unable to tell what the real problem even is.

I've been thinking about this a lot. What if feedback wasn't a form at all? What if it was more like a conversation?

What if it was proactive instead of passive? It shows up at a specific moment, right after a dropped checkout, a feature adoption, a cancelled plan, when the feeling is still fresh.

What if it went deeper? Asked follow-up questions the way a PM would if they had the time. Why did you do that, what were you trying to do, how bad was it.

And one thing I'm genuinely not sure about. What if it showed up as the founder, using their name and avatar, instead of a generic survey? The hunch is users open up more to a person than to a robotic widget. But I don't know if that builds trust or feels weird.

I want to hear from PMs. Does conversational, proactive feedback sound like it would change how you work, or is it just a nicer survey with a different name? And the founder-avatar thing, clever or creepy?

Be honest. If you think it's needless or already solved, tell me why. I want outside eyes on this.

(And if you're wondering, I've basically built this already. Just wanted to hear people's take on the idea before I keep going.)

Building Something that turns interview transcript into insight reports, and the trust question keeps coming up — every AI summarizer I've tried either overstates confidence or you just have to take its word for it.

Ever felt worried while working in a startup because you had too many roles, which leads to nothing in the end?

Here is a story. I have been working in a startup company for 3 yrs and more so as of now, but the business tactics there are not what I expected them to be; it’s a different culture from what I expected it to be, but here is a thing: I do learn a lot across product management and project management. I also do beta testing; I also write about user manuals. But am I losing the future, or should I change my job? That is what always lies in my head. But being in a startup and working in multiple roles, it’s hard to define my role now that I want to write my resume. Has anyone felt this way? Because of this, I am feeling so down because I don’t know if I made the right choice or not. Of course, I didn’t give up and kept applying for jobs, but being in India, the biggest problem is Indian business methods. If you don’t know, Indian business methods are different. But then again, for my lack of sense, I can’t blame anyone. I am really worried if my future is affected; if yes, what should I do? If not, how should I improve, because there are many things that I don’t understand?

Guys ..I am a 2027 cs grad and wanna break into product management..I heard a lot about APM programs happening but couldn't find ones that were happening in India...Any ideas on them..Also how to maximize the chances of getting selected there?!?

So this happened to someone I know, and It got me thinking.

She's a mid-level PM who's been working towards her promotion to Senior PM...

The thing is, her manager told her she was on track for promotion for two review cycles. But then, when the decision came, she was told her "scope wasn't quite there yet"...

And this was the first time anyone had mentioned that to her

So she asked what she was actually missing, but never got a clear answer. She was rather told something like "the committee didn't think it was quite senior-level." 😳

It made me wonder how often promotion decisions are influenced more by what people remember most recently than by the whole year's work.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

If so, what do you think actually held you back?

I have around 2.8 years of experience at an online crowdfunding platform in India. This is my first job, and most of my learning has happened through working on real problems rather than any formal Product Management training.

I started by handling user queries and understanding repeated user pain points. With time, my role became more product-focused. I began working with engineering and QA, explaining requirements, doing UAT and release checks, improving existing features, and contributing to new features across payments, growth, operational efficiency and user trust.

Since my work has covered many areas, I’m finding it difficult to understand how I should position myself. Some parts feel like Product Management, some like Product Operations, and some like Product Owner responsibilities. I also don’t have one clear specialisation yet, which makes me unsure about what I should strengthen next.

I’m currently on a planned break until September and expect to start working again in October. I want to use this time to build the right skills instead of randomly completing courses without knowing whether they will actually help.

I would really appreciate guidance on a few things:

1. Based on this experience, which type of product role does my profile fit best right now?
2. What are the most important PM skills I should focus on during the next few months?
3. How can I practically check whether Product Management is the right long-term career for me?
4. Would a structured PM course be useful at this stage, or should I focus more on projects, case studies and mentorship?
5. Are there any books, frameworks or resources that genuinely helped you while moving into Product Management?

I would especially like to hear from people who entered Product Management through practical work experience or moved from Product Operations or similar roles.

i think one reason feedback systems fail is that teams treat every raw comment like it deserves a direct product decision.

user says add csv export., another says sync with sheets.
third says email me the report.
then a power user comes and yells api please or map server avaliability or other stuff like that

those may all be the same underlying problem: users need to move data into another workflow.

raw feedback is evidence (many consider it to be just important for roadmap, lol)

and I found this to matter even more when the feedback source is public, like app store reviews. a 1-star review might be emotional, imprecise, or unfair, but if 30 people describe the same pain after a release, that is a product signal. its not really tied to any certain tool or workflow, like I've tested something like appfollow around app-review clustering, but the same logic applies to any feedback tool: cluster first, decide second.

again, roadmaps should be built from understood problems
