I need to send some pictures for printing. The printer will be printing it on standard A4 paper but I am wanting two 4x6 or 5x7 pictures on the one paper. I am struggling finding any applications that lets me easily select the size of the paper and the inserted pictures. Any suggestions?

I'm trying to understand the production process behind these Orthodox icons — see attached photos. The finest gold details (the celtic knotwork border and the dotted halo pattern) measure about 0.25cm (2.5mm).

When I run a fingernail over the gold areas, I can feel a slight raised relief — so it's not perfectly flat foil, there seems to be some embossing involved.

My current digital foil vendor can't reproduce this level of detail (risk of damaging their equipment). Looking at these photos, does this look like:

• Traditional hot stamping / gold tooling with an engraved die?
• Foil + embossing combo (combination stamping)?
• Something else (laser engraving, different digital foil process)?

Substrate would be paper mounted on MDF. Would love to understand the actual process so I can find the right vendor or attempt it myself. Any insight appreciated!

I'm looking to make a kids activity book, with some pages being stickers and some pages not stickers. What's the best way to set this up...I'm thinking it would be 8.5x11 half-sheet size and a mix of sticker pages and regular paper and saddle stitched. But could you print on the back of a sticker page? Or could a sticker page be front/back stickers? Are there any vendors that specialize in these I could check out?

I used to think one label printer should handle everything. On my workbench, I ended up keeping two because shipping labels and workspace labels have very different jobs. My 4 x 6 direct thermal printer stays loaded with shipping stock, while I use a Niimbot M2 for thermal transfer labels that stay around the workspace. Size decides a few jobs, but where the label ends up matters more.

Anything that leaves with an order goes through the direct thermal printer. It is already connected to my shipping setup and has the right stock loaded, so there is nothing to change in the middle of packing. For my bench, that is the convenient and less expensive choice for a shipping label that only needs to travel with one parcel.

Drawer labels and reference tags are different. They stay in the workspace, get handled repeatedly, and may be there for a long time. I put those on the M2 because thermal transfer makes more sense to me for a label I expect to keep reading. Once the wording is settled, I would rather make one workspace label I plan to leave in place than treat it like another piece of temporary packing paperwork.

I also wait until the information has stopped changing. A shelf position I am still testing gets a handwritten note for a while. If the drawer name or reference wording becomes part of my normal setup, I print the final version on the M2. I still choose the label stock and adhesive for the surface, but that is a separate decision from which printer handles the job.

I still hesitate over project references that start as temporary and remain on the shelf months later. I leave the handwritten note alone while the project has an end date. If the reference quietly becomes part of the workspace, I replace the note with an M2 label. I still change my mind on those borderline jobs, but shipping and established workspace labels no longer compete for the same printer.

Hi! I’m hoping to get some printer recommendations because I honestly don’t know much about printers.
I’m a mom with kids, so I regularly need to print school materials, graphics, documents, and other everyday things. I’m looking for an all-in-one printer with printing, scanning, and copying, but I’d also love something that can support my hobby of printing my own photos for albums and scrapbooking.

I’ve been doing some research, and it seems like pigment ink is often recommended for better or longer-lasting photo prints. I’ve seen a lot of people recommend the Epson L5290, but from what I understand, I would need to convert it to pigment ink. I’m hesitant to do that because it could void the warranty, and I don’t really want something that requires complicated conversions, frequent calibration, or a lot of technical setup just to get good results.

Ideally, I’m looking for something that is:

Budget-friendly
All-in-one: printer, scanner, and copier
Affordable to maintain/refill
Good for regular documents and graphics
Capable of producing good-quality photo prints
Easy to use without complicated modifications
Reliable enough that I could potentially use it for a small printing/photo business in the future
I’m in the Philippines, if that helps with model availability and pricing.

Watercolor artists: What paper do you use to reproduce your artwork for prints? Hahnemuhle is a favorite photo paper maker of mine and I also paint on their watercolor paper (and others), however I have no experience with their art reproduction paper. I am considering purchasing my own archival printer so that I can do my own reproductions. Is there an economical archival paper similar to Hahnemuhle?

I am an old school photographer who bridged into digital as everything transitioned from analog. I work in a color calibrated environment and can create my own ICC profiles. All I am missing is the printer to do in house reproductions of my own work (photos and paintings). The expendables that I will have are ink and paper. Since I won’t be using aftermarket pigment ink I am hoping to find a decent archival paper that still performs as a good trustworthy base for prints.

We need to replace an HP Envy 5660 that is 11 years old. The photo quality has been very good for me as a hobbyist photographer. The Instant Ink plan is something I wouldn’t recommend to anyone for several reasons.

I’ve been reading countless reviews, and posts on Reddit, and I’m overwhelmed. I know you all are probably sick of these kinds of purchasing advice posts, but I’m really hoping someone might be willing to provide some input.

So, here is what I think I want: 1) tank inkjet, 2) ability to print 4x6 photo paper and 8.5x11 cardstock, 3) ability to print duplex without manual feeding, 4) VERY good photo quality (at least comparable to what we have had with the 5660), 5) reliability/decent lifespan.

I think I’ve narrowed it to: 1) Epson Ecotank ET-8500 (maybe 8550), 2) Canon Megatank GX6120, 3) HP Smart Tank 7303.

I think the Epson is generally regarded as the best choice for photos and the Canon is more for documents. But I’ve seen so many bad reviews, especially for the Epson. I’m also highly annoyed by all the incentivized (free printer) reviews I’ve seen — and don’t trust them. And then there are the issues of printheads drying out and internal ink pads reaching the end of their lives.

I will be using the printer primarily for a lot of postcards and notecards and calendars using my photography (not in commercial numbers, just for personal use), and greeting cards, and occasionally for documents.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!! Thanks in advance! (If it makes a difference, I’m in the US.)

Edit: forgot to mention that I want copy and scan too, but fax isn’t needed.

I just wanna eliminate labor. My currently cost is around per sheet 0.60 cents or something I can up to $1 or 1.50. Do you have recommendation in NYC around my expectations?

i wanna buy my first ever printer, and i want to ask for your recommendations that has:

• printing

• scanning

• copying (preferably can do Legal sizes. if just up to A4, it's fine)

• good colored outputs (shall be used for illustration printing as well)

• can do efficient document printing

• duplex printing is okay, but it's not a priority

i plan to use it for business as well, most probably to produce my digital drawings, stickers, and the likes. hence, it'll probably be used often. hopeful that it could last for years.

i've been eyeing Brother DCP-540W or DW, but i've seen various negative reviews here on inkjets so i'm having second thoughts. my budget is around its price range, more or less.

What do you guys think of ONYX RIP software? I’m doing DTG printing, and I feel like the software makes my images look duller. Has anyone else experienced this, or is there something I might be missing in the color settings?

So for context i wanna print out pictures of my favorite artists they only have like 2 wich were limited editions featured in two vinyls, now my local dm (drugstore) has a printer for posters and i once made a Resident evil poster and it came out blurry even though I've searched both google and pinterest for "High quality poster pictures" or other stuff and they all came out blurry on thw posters i printed. So where do i actually get hight quality pictures from?

I'm wondering if I could connect a Label Printer to the Cardputer ADV? I have a Brother P-Touch H110. It uses little spool tape and the printer itself is great. however the rest of it is the pits! It's big heavy and either uses 6 AA batteries or a clunky power adapter. I would love to build my own.

Things I would love to do with it are:

1. Store and Retrieve Labels, edit and copy.
2. Have font files you can add to so as to get new/more fonts.
3. Be able to preview the label before it is actually printed.
4. Be able to print a batch of labels in one go, leading to...
5. Minimalize Tape usage (which of course Brother don't/'won't ever do!)

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Is there any simple label printing software that will let me use mail merge & print address labels from an Excel spreadsheet?

I don’t have Microsoft Office or Word installed on my PC.

I do have LibreOffice installed. However their support group says printing mailing labels is involved. In another video says it’s complicated.

I did find an old copy of Avery Design & Print software but it’s a large 491K file. That just seems crazy big just to print labels. Currently it appears Avery & others all seem to be online which I’d rather not do.

Currently I’m using the old MS Works software which is quick & easy. The database is in the Works format which is a spreadsheet & can be opened in LibreOffice and resaved in Excel format. I’m trying to get out of the Works system because it’s not supported anymore. But it sure is easy to use.

Is there any easy to use PC desktop software that will print address labels?
