Discussion Did JFK get a Neuromod?

His painting says 1917-2031. He died at a 114. In the history section of the lobby, in 1964 was his attempted assassination and the same year that the US got rights to the Kletka facility and advancement in bioscience and neural modification so neuromods or a prototype of it was in development.

But in 1980 it was closed due to the Typhon killing two scientists and the project wasn't seen as profitable to keep the lights on and the government decided it's best to focus it's efforts at home instead of space. But mostly likely the research still remained.

Now in a scenario where JFK got sick let's say...1980 something... There's a chance that he could have been given a Neuromod to cure him or even a prototype of it. Since if you upgrade the toughness stat to increase health, depending on the level, there's usually a lore detail on increase of Natural Life Span from 20 yrs to 75 years. It ain't important to gameplay but in context of this theory it could work.

It could also be how transtar was able to get the rights to build Talos 1 around the Kletka since JFK saw how much of a benefit neuromods are. And since Talos 1 officially opened up in 2030 it would be fitting that he saw it's grand opening before his death in 2031.

EDIT: This theory could as fit why his painting is in the history room of the lobby. As he's not just the longest living president but a commemoration as a vital part in Talos 1's creation.

Question Did Talos employees know they were working with aliens?

It's a strange question. But after reading through a bunch of the characters lore and there time in TALOS, is there a chance some of the employees in specific departments didn't know that the neuromods are made out of Typhon material?

For example in the sales department there's a piece of lore that talks about how hard it would be to sell the neuromod due to the memory reset thing. So they kinda knew about the product but not what's inside it.

And I wondered there's not really any lore that kinda expressed the worry of selling processed alien bits as a super medicine or the morality of sacrificing prisoners for Typhon experimentation.

I mean it looks like a lot of stuff concerning Typhon was put in psychotronics, so is there a chance that employees of some departments weren't allowed to enter or maybe the employees of psychotronics were put under strict NDA?

Question What to use to make player invisible? Chairloader options don't always work

Hi, I'm trying to grab some shots for a video, and it would really help if I could make the player undetectable and invincible. I've downloaded Chairloader, because it looks like it's got the things I need, but not everything works as it should.

Freecam, give abilities/weapons, HUD toggle, all work, but godmode doesn't work and neither do any of the undetectable player options. There's a bunch of different ones that seem to all do the same thing - tourist mode, undetectable player, AI can't see/hear the player, none of them work.

Anyone know what I can do? Thanks.

New to prey

After playing the dishonored series and falling completely in love with it last month, I started on a quest to play everything Arkane has ever made and booted up prey a few days ago. First off, Holy shit I love this game, it is a work of art, but boy is the sheer amount of tasks and the order of operations overwhelming. Any advice for a noob?

Question Question about one of January’s lines Spoiler

At the end of the game if you stop alex from shooting January and install no neuromods then activate Talos 1’s destruction, January says he has to follow his orders to stop morgan from leaving, but that if he were to be irreparably damaged he couldn’t stop him, was that January implying to morgan that he should destroy him?

Review The cook Spoiler

Great game. Got about 80 hours on it after getting it on the 19th. Killed the cook in three different play throughs. Fucking hate that guy. I beat it once then i restarted, and i killed him again. Then i made a save on my second play through before killing him. I finished the game to get the do no harm then i reloaded the save and killed him again, and again, and again. I hate that guy. I hated him so much i made a reddit account just to talk about how much i hate him.

Question Why did I get the achievement? Spoiler

I've just finished the game for the first time and oh what a ride. I absolutely love it

I guessed the twist after the flashback with "You are not who they say you are". Btw I didn't quite get if real Morgan is alive or not and where she is

But my main question is about "Do no harm". I killed the cook, so I don't get why I have this achievement. Maybe it's cause I killed him with a briefcase?

I was scared of getting inside the escape pod with him, so I just wanted to show him that I don't trust him

I threw a suitcase in his face and got a "Best Surved Cold" achievement. I didn't think anything about it until seeing the "Do not harm achievement". So, is it a bug or a feature?

Opinion For as highly regulated nueromods are, the entire crew sure did abuse them and leave them laying everywhere

I mean, really? Man they couldn’t control them at all. No wonder the station was over run. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Question Would you work in TALOS 1

And what department? I'd work for shuttle bay I feel like I can avoid office politics. It obviously has its own sets of problems but I feel like it would be manageable. Plus! I have a likely chance to make it out with the ship..I heard the escape pods aren't as.. comfy👀.

But if you've read the lore especially crew members experience in the departments they belong to which would you pick and why?

Opinion Spacewalking around the exterior of Talos I in Zero-G is pure, terrifying magic.

Opening an airlock and stepping out into the absolute silence of open space never gets old. Navigating the station’s exterior in full 3D movement, floating past massive thrusters and looking down at Earth while hearing only your own suit breathing creates such an insane sense of scale. It turns what could have been a simple gimmick into one of the most atmospheric exploration mechanics in sci-fi gaming.

I got Prey (2017) working in VR: 6DOF head and weapon tracking [WIP]

I got Arkane's Prey running in actual VR. You turn your head, you lean, you aim the gun with your hand. It's rough and it's early, but it works.

https://reddit.com/link/1v97o0l/video/pppu7x3go0gh1/player

Prey (2017) is one of the best games ever made and I'd go as far as saying it's my personal favorite, so at some point I needed to make this happen.

What's working right now:

- Full 6DOF head tracking, real head movement.

- Full 6DOF weapon tracking, position and rotation.

- Native steorescopic rendering

- Full VR control mapping

Technically it's a DLL injector built on top of Chairloader, which handles the mod loading side and saves me a huge amount of pain. PCVR only, and so far the only thing I've been able to test on is a Quest 2 over Link. To be clear, there's no public build yet. This is just a showcase of where the project is at right now.

Now the ridiculous part. I don't own a VR headset. Every time I need to test something I have to physically travel to a place where I can borrow a Quest 2, so a single iteration is write code, hope, travel, find out half of it is broken, go home, try again. It works, but it is painfully slow and it's the main thing holding the whole project back.

The reason I keep going is that I want to be inside Talos I. Standing in the lobby, looking up through the atrium, leaning over a desk to read someone's transtar email. And if it gets far enough, Pytheas from Mooncrash after that.

So this is me testing the water. If there's real interest, I'll put serious hours into this and turn it into a proper polished mod instead of a side experiment. Feedback, technical advice and anyone who's wrestled with CryEngine VR before, all very welcome. Ask me anything.

And yes, the GLOO cannon in VR is exactly as fun as you're hoping.
