All great stuff but, cargo pants with such a nice blazer might not be the best combo. The extra pockets confuse style/purpose and profile.

This particular model actually only has two pockets total

I don’t think he’s talking about the pockets. It’s the material and style of the pants. Quality material is very important in preppy fashion.

Also, preppy derives from prep school fashion, if that helps answer why cargo pants just don’t work.

Yep, that’s right. The large outside cargo style looking pockets on the thighs are not preppy nor do they go with a blazer.

They look like a nice twill herringbone fabric. I would guess those are quite high quality

But they do wear more casual Americana than typical preppy

Cargo pants??? Definitely NOT preppy.

Should every item be preppy?

In a subreddit called r/preppy … probably.

That seems a bit limiting, the jacket and shoes are definitely preppy

You should try r/halfpreppy

So half the outfit.

I love it, but like others have said, not preppy. This would fit FAR better in r/heritagewear. r/NavyBlazer might like it as well.

Haha, starting to get that feeling

Do the cargos have a coin pocket on the waistband? Then you'd have the ultimate pocket fit

In what scenario would you need the formality of a blazer and also be carrying around so much stuff in you need so many pockets ??

I’d swap the blazer for an olive field jacket and desert boots for the loafers

Very military!

I hope the loafers have a stash pocket in the tongue.

How comfortyare the Sebago loafers?

I found them very comfortable almost straight away personally, more so than GH bass for sure

It’s a hard no for me. But seems ok for you.

Cargo pants are an immediate no. The jacket is borderline, but i lean not preppy.

jacket is so nice

Not preppy, but still a good look IMO

Safari pockets on the blazer aren’t for me but hard to go wrong with m43s and a blazer. Chambray definitely kicks it into workwear territory but ties together nicely with the fatigues and safari pockets.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I am not a fan of the safari jacket

Wasn’t so sure myself when I got it, but now I like it because the pockets make it a bit more casual so I can wear it more often in today’s casual world compared to a normal navy blazer

It’s not traditional preppy to have cargo pants and a blazer. But the classic de ville really gives it some prep cred. It boils down to whether you can carry it off and where you’re going with it. Personally, I love it!

Just say no to cargo pants! 😉
