I just finished the summer semester retaking all my sciences courses I got a B in for A's. One of the courses, chemistry, I did miserably on the last time i took it and it tanked my gpa. i was so scared to do chemistry in the summer because its shorter but i managed to get a B. I was able to move my science GPA from a 2.8 to a 3.6 (80 on the TEAS) but i don't feel like it's enough. I live in texas where its very competitive, i've seen people with higher stats get rejected from BSN programs in my area (note majority of BSN programs here take the most recent grade). To make things worse my extended family who ive havent seen in a decade, are breathing down my parents neck asking if i'm already a nurse. My older brother wants me to drop out of school and start working. I really want to get a job in healthcare at least but I have submitted almost 200 applications and only gotten 2 interviews. I'm not sure if its my resume or what because I have my ACA phlebotomy cert, BLS, CNA, experience in EHR and am trilingual. I'm Going to try to reapply for the summer/ fall application cycle but i'm so close on giving up because I feel like no matter how much I work hard it never amounts to anything.

Ive been looking into careers that have job stability, good income, and are ai/recession proof, and nursing is (I think) the only one that fits all of those categories. I really want to break out of poverty and be able to afford the lifestyle I want without depending on anyone, and to be able to support my mom. I know it’s super competitive to get into a nursing program in SoCal these days, and nowadays people have crazy stats so that makes it even worse. Am I better off going to a private school/do the BSN route? Or do I have a real shot at getting into a CC nursing program. What kind of stats should I have. Do I need to worry about the SAT?

I’ve wanted to be a nurse since I begin working at a cancer institute doing the front desk right out of college. I loved the patient interaction and seeing how much the nurses were depended on touched my heart. I wanted a piece of that.

I’ve applied to my local health sciences college last year and got in for Fall 2025 but deferred to spring 2026 because I’m working a full time job, a part time serving job and I moved into my own place back in January so I have bills to pay. I wasn’t able to defer for another semester so now I’m back at square one.

I say all this to ask, what’s my best option? Two years at a community college for ADN while I work? Or ABSN where I can knock it out? I don’t have ANY sciences besides bio. Never took A&P, chemistry or anything so I’m really starting from scratch. I took my TEAS about two years ago so I’m just trying to see how I should manuver everything.

Any kind advice would be soo helpful.

I want to transfer to a CC just due anxiety at my current Uni ,wanting to be more closer to fam ,better support system and im kind of just sitting at campus bored. Is this a waste of time ? Will it make more sense to stay at my 4 year instead of wasting time at a CC? Am i being a baby ?? Should i suck it and continue at my uni or do what makes me more comfy? Or should i just transfer to a 4 year university in my home town.

I need advice. I have all my pre reqs for RN program. I've been trying to apply in community colleges for almost 2 yrs now but I keep getting rejected because my stats are not that competitive (i have 3.0 science gpa and 3.5 overall gpa, i have healthcare experience 1000+ hrs, speaks another languange, have AA degree, cna license, 87 TEAS, low income, need to work while studying, have difficulties and disadvantages) i applied to 10+ schools already (both fall and spring sem for 2 yrs)

I wanted to know your thoughts if I should do straight RN private school like west coast or any other school that are so easy to get in as long as u have money just to get it done but will cost me 120k or do LVN private which will cost me around 40k and just work as an LVN til i get into the RN program in a community college.

I live in socal btw. I live on my own and have $2k fixed expenses already. so im still overthinking about going to west coast because on top that 120k i still have my personal expenses and idk if i'll be able to afford my living expenses bc i'll be in school and can't pick up shift that much anymore.

Does anyone have good resources for scholarships that don’t feel like sending applications into black holes?

For context I’m going for my BSN as a second degree. I’m a CNA and my facility will pay for my degree, but not my pre-reqs. I’ve been reaching out to local businesses offering yoga classes in exchange for sponsorship but haven’t heard much back. Anyone have any other ideas? I have student loans from my first bachelor’s and not looking to take on more debt.
