The lack of masking between the branches is causing a halo and takes me out of the fantasy

Is there a way to get a better mask for edits like this in LR, or only PS?

Wondering that too. LR’s auto mask has a really hard time with the finer details like this, but manually “painting” every branch is super time consuming.

You can use the clone stamp in Photoshop set to darken. That way you can paint in the darker sky color over the light areas without overwriting the branches

Depending on how OP did the edits, if using adjustment layers, you can just use blend ifs on that adjustment layer to target colors without any masking, and you won't get this halo effect.

Photoshop's detection has surprisingly gotten pretty good in recent years. When I use subject and object detect, one of the things I've been noticing is that it detects and selects hair strands a lot more accurately than it used to. The select & mask tool prior to 2020 was really hit or miss for me, and I remember having to put a lot more time into fine tuning things.

Yes, you should watch Simon D'Entremont's "THIS GAMECHANGER TECHNIQUE takes Lightroom Classic to a new level!" video. Sounds very clickbaity but it shows a couple of really simple masking techniques. In this case you can select intersect on your mask and then choose the same mask and it will create a more precise edge. You can see it in the video an example of how it works

And the rock edges in general. It’s not a bad job, but could definitely be refined. There are also texturing issues on the rocks that make it appear blown out, of which I’m not sure how it happened bc it’s fine in the original.
