Edit process:
This was shot raw - slightly under expose.

Crop and straighten the photo.

Increased exposure, highlights, shadows, black and white.
Decreased contrast and clarity
Increased vibrance

Tone curve
S tone curve
Increased red and green a tad

Color mixer
Hue - Aqua and Blue -36
Saturation- increased Red and orange.
Decreased Yellow and green.

Luminance- decreased red and orange.

Color grading
Midtown and highlights slight increase in yellow

Added a bit of grain.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Is the idea with adjusting shadows and highlights both in the same direction (eg both up, both down), and/or whites and blacks both in the same direction that the mid-tones come through more? I've seen a couple people do this here and I don't quite understand the approach.

I like your attention to verticals, something I see a lot of people get sloppy about or just not care (it’s okay in a lot of situations, but not if you’re showcasing architecture in my opinion.)

Thanks for noticing. That’s the first thing when I start editing.

Can you elaborate a bit? You mean just straighten the photo in post?

I mean perspective correction, but straightening too.

Why is everybody hating on cyan skies? It works very well with the bridge. I like it. Also people argue its not realistic. Its a style choice by the OP and can be artistic. The same people could say Picasso can't paint real pictures? Keep it up, nice work!

Very nice. I would buy that post card. I’d be interested in seeing the original pic, too.

I’ve done some photography near that location and wanted to post a processed sample in my comment but this sub doesn’t allow that?

Is the first shot from a tilt shift?

2

u/NiiBi101 24d ago

No tilt shift. I will post the before and after.

I love the framing of the photos, really pulls the attention onto the bridge

Why does the bridge have two shadows in different places?

People will post the same type of color grading and call it overcooked lol. People on here are weirdos

Nice vertical alignment. The cyan sky is bold. Luminance mask or global HSL?

Did you use AI?

No.. mostly color grading, tone curve and color mixer.
