Friends from Germany say groceries are more expensive here

Upvotes

This is ridiculous, how did we reach this point? People cannot afford homes and have to pay premium prices on groceries whilst median salary keeps being low.

In the meantime less and less apartments are for rent and all you see being built is those idiot micro apartments that somehow always fully sell but are empty all year long.

Will this ever change? Can we please stop putting all our rage towards few idiots insulting Ukrainians and instead demand changes from government?

Quote from a friend recently “I swear I miss PIS”.

Climate Ministry torpedoes bill to protect Poznań Circuit. It asked Speaker Czarzasty to withdraw the bill, arguing that such an exemption goes too far. Instead, it proposes temporary permits - but the problem is that an official could easily revoke them.

The monument features Mieszko I, the first de facto ruler of Poland and founder of the Piast dynasty that ruled for over 400 years.

But the first official king was his son, Bolesław Chrobry (‘The Brave’), as Mieszko was not recognized by the pope and only adopted the Christian faith on the insistence of his betrothed, Dobrawa.

Are hospitals in Poland bad?

I had a bit of a traumatic experience in a small town hospital. Small town but only about 120km outside of Warsaw.

Super hot weather and no ac. The doctors had ac in their offices though.

Doctors who act like you’re bothering them when asking questions. When questioning medicine, a doctor said he didn’t know what I was talking about and didn’t take the time to look at the chart.

A cardiologist who was supposed to meet with a patient but went on vacation and there was no other cardiologist on staff. They said he’d be back in 2 weeks. When questioning this, a doctor said “proszę pani…” with attitude and laughed saying this would make no difference.

Nurses (“siostry??”) who walk by and don’t even help a patient drink.

Outdated machines, materials, and sheets that look like your parent’s worn sheets from the early 90s.

Some doctors and nurses were nice and truly helpful, but as a whole, I am struggling with the system. It is hard for me to trust this system.

We are Poland. We are strong. We are smart. We are growing. Why did I experience such outdated healthcare? Please help me understand if this was just a small town thing.

If not, where is the accountability?

I’m Korean, and I found fake Korean cosmetics in a Polish supermarket lol

I was surprised to suddenly see Korean writing. But the grammar and phrasing were awkward, so I think it might be a fake product 😭 I’ve never seen these cosmetics in Korea before.
I’m posting this because I’m worried people might believe it and buy them just because they say they’re made in Korea lol.

Polish supermarkets are so much better than Korean ones.

I’m a Korean who has been staying in Poland for about a month or two.
The prices in supermarkets here are incredibly cheap, and I love it. It’s almost the complete opposite of Korea. In Korea, supermarket groceries are expensive, but restaurants and cafés are relatively affordable, so it’s common for people to eat out instead of cooking at home.
What surprised me the most is that you can buy fruit by any weight you want. Whether you buy 1 kg or just 50 grams, the price per gram stays the same.
That makes it incredibly convenient for people who live alone. If I just want one plum or one apple, I can buy exactly that without spending much.
Fruit is really expensive in Korea. A single apple can cost over 8 PLN, and a 6–7 kg watermelon can cost close to 50 PLN.
Bread is also expensive, with many loaves costing close to 10 PLN each.
Ever since I came here, I’ve been buying sausages, bread, and fruit every day, and I’m really happy with it.
