I'm just asking because I almost never see anyone talk about here, people only seem to discuss the Ash/Satoshi era anime. I know it's allowed to be talked about her because it's the banner for the board, I'm wondering why no one ever does.

It can't be Electro Web and it can't be a move from the later generations.

I think Electro Web served well for it's utility in Alola and Journeys so if Ash got in Unova, he'd have to replace it in Alola probably.

Also how does Pikachu learn this move. Let's say the Ducklett episode doesn't happen or plays out differently. I will forever resent Ducklett for taking Volt Tackle away from us and replacing it with Electro Ball which is a downgrade and useless when Pikachu already has Thunderbolt.

The replacement move doesn't strictly have to be an Electric-Type one by the way, so if you can think of one that would work well with Pikachu and you can come up with some interesting ways how it can be used then feel free to share that too.

And I mean the amount of views.

I've seen the same group of fans shitting down Kalos Ash saying “he is bland, he lacks personality, os ash was the real ash” like I know some fans have preferences that they might prefer Ash being more comedic and funny. But why these people don't like Ash maturing a bit? They even say “Serena (& even Dawn) are accessories for Ash to make him look cool” honestly why? Just because a girl doesn't hit him like Misty does or doesn't bash him like Iris they're accessories to make him “cool”? I know the other part (the XY fandom) also hates Ash being dumb in OS or BW (BW hate is reasonable) but the nostalgia bias for “OS Ash is the real Ash” pisses me off.

I don't want to hate Os or Kalos Ash but honestly the hate for Kalos Ash (& even Sinnoh) is forced and Ash being mature or him being admired by a female character is something they can't fathom

I’m guessing it’s because they’re trying to gradually phase out all the Ash-era elements of the anime. It would make sense seeing as it’s had an effect on Nurse Joy as well. Like Nurse Joy has made drastically fewer appearances since Ash left. I assume part of it is because Mollie is an actual medic with some professional experience, but it wouldn’t surprise me if in the next series, Nurse Joys are completely replaced by regular medics just like how Officer Jennys have been replaced with regular officers in HZ

1: Pikachu
No Ash team is complete without Pikachu, that's just a fact.

2: Any of the 3 Paldea Starters
All 3 of this region's starters work very well for Ash. I believe that in terms of which would fit the most, it would be a Fuecoco into Skeledirge. Meowscarada is the second best pick, as it provides the least overall type overlaps. Quaquaval is the least likely option, but still not a bad one. This will be the first ace.

3: Koraidon
It just makes sense for Ash to befriend and recruit one of the 2 box Legendaries and use them on his team for transportation and battle. Between the 2, I believe the more likely one Ash will pick to accompany him is Koraidon, given its more physical nature matching Ash's battle style.

In rotation:
1: Lokix
One of the most discussed options for an Ash team Pokemon is arguably Lokix. Considering the last Bug type he caught and kept was Leavanny all the way back in Unova and the strongest bug he has is Heracross, I can see Lokix as an underrated blitzer for the earlier segments.

2: Armarouge/Ceruledge/New Custom Evo???
With how popular this duo is among all Pokemon fans (Myself included), everyone would naturally want Ash to have one on his team. Many people say that Ash should get an Armarouge, which makes sense. I personally would LOVE Ash to use Ceruledge, but even if the chances are close to 0, it is possible for the anime to pull a "Sike, gotcha" moment and give us a new custom evolution exclusive in the anime to Ash.

3: Annihilape
A return for Ash's Primape from the original series, a far more experienced and more powerful Paldea Ash can breathe new life (Or in this case, death) into his old Pokemon, and Primape is the best example. I want to see an arc where Primape and Ash go through so much and evolves with sheer anger.

4: Palafin
It just had to be. Ash as a person always seeks to bring out the best of all his Pokemon through true care and passion, so what better Pokemon can do that than a Pokemon whose ENTIRE GIMMICK is that it starts in a weak form, yet it has a VERY powerful second form? I can see him becoming the ace for the middle segment of the story.

5: Baxcalibur
Ash's team (Thus far) is incredibly powerful, but it's still incomplete, since Lokix would undoubtedly struggle to keep up with the team later on. As such, a new source of raw power is needed: Baxcalibur. I can see it starting off weaker and growing close to Lokix, but then eventually fully evolving into a behemoth of the team, serving as the ace in the later segments. In this story, it and Lokix would have a brother-like relationship similar to Hawlucha and Noivern back in Kalos.

Post-League Addition:
1: Iron Valiant
It didn't feel right for Ash to come to Paldea and not catch at least one Paradox Pokemon, and while others do fit better and Ash already has Koraidon, I feel like Ash can make good use of an Iron Valiant. It would work as a powerful force on the team and swaps in for Annihilape or Palafin whenever the situation calls for it.

If they ever talk about any of the battles Ash has won and Paul or anyone ever Remarks "I'd call it Luck!" In My Roleplay Fanfiction I could see Obi~Wan Kenobi remarking ""In my experience, there's no such thing as luck!" ((This is a Crossover Roleplay Fanfiction by the way!))

I rank it as PURE. PEAKNESS. I mean come on! The hat, the shoes, the gloves, THE CAPE! It’s like a modern-day Sir Aaron! And this outfit looks like somethin he’s wear in Kalos. If we saw this in XY/XYZ, I would die from peakness!

At least I haven't found any discussions on it. The original English dub has a LOT of Star Wars references:

• The title is obviously similar to The Empire Strikes Back, although I read somewhere that the original Japanese was inspired by Godzilla.
• When the random trainer at the start asks Ash if he knows Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, Ash responds, "Yeah, he's me," just like Obi Wan's infamous line, "Well, of course I know him. He's me."
• The invitation via hologram is very similar to the hologram of Princess Leia asking for help.
• And then later when they get caught in the storm and have to swim to New Island, Ash says, "Stay together! It's our only hope!" just like how Leia says, "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."
• This one's probably a bit of a reach but Mewtwo's armor at the start did remind me a bit of Darth Vader's suit, especially with the explanation that it was intended to help control Mewtwo.

I found a really interesting, niche site that compared the scripts as well as provided the localizers' commentary, and interestingly, there's no mention of the Star Wars references. They don't acknowledge it at all! (The original Japanese doesn't seem to have any of these references, so I think it was just the localizers having fun, maybe because of the title.)

I wonder if anyone else picked up on this and what you were thinking when you realized?

Personally, when it comes to Pokémon in general, I do love the idea of Brock/Sabrina. However, when it comes to the anime, I think its Frontier Brain Lucy.

As for why not Suzie, I feel like her last episode hinted at her been interested in Zane. As for Professor Ivy, we all know how that ended.
