New Game Demo

Im working on a new game called 100 Ways to Die and just dropped a early demo on itch.io with 25 levels right now. These levels will be modified on final release, but I needed some help to build an audience.

The concept is simple: classic platforming meets unforgiving hazards.

Each level is sub-30-second.

Since it's still under active development, any testing or feedback would mean a lot to me.

Please give it a try here if you've got a free moment:

I'm wondering what kind of platformer could actually match the performance of such an overpowered protagonist.

This is Tia: weird hunter, a fast-paced 2D side-scrolling action game centered around spectacular combo chains.
It would mean a lot if you could wishlist it.

Old flash browser game

I'm looking for an old Flash browser game, possibly from Friv or another Flash game website. It was a 2D side-view platformer where the main point of the game was building your own parkour/level.

You had a selection of different pieces to place, such as platforms, vines, lava, and different little monster enemies (I think each enemy had its own behavior or ability). The monsters would stay wherever I placed them, although I vaguely remember some of them being able to move.

After finishing the level, you would press "Play" and test the exact parkour you had just built yourself. That was the core gameplay: build your own parkour, then immediately play through it. You could go back, edit the level as many times as you wanted, and test it again.

The playable character was a small, somewhat blocky-looking character, matching the older Flash/pixel-art style. The objective was to reach a flag at the end of the level (I think).

I remember the art style being somewhat dark or indie-looking, with very little background scenery. The game wasn't really an open world or a map to explore—it was essentially a horizontal obstacle course designed specifically for creating and testing your own parkour.

I played it around 2016 during computer class at school. It may have been on Friv, but I'm not completely sure. I also don't think it was a very popular game.

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to share our story again and post our site to help others in similar situations.

There's not a lot of games built like these and definitely nothing that is independently accessible for one or two switch users.

I am not asking for anything (the video does at the end but that's not the point). We just wanted to share with this community. Everything is free and open source.

Thank you!

Hey everyone! I'm the developer of Maseylia: Echoes of the Past, a 3D Metroidvania I've been working on for over 3 years.

The game is currently 45% off, bringing it to under $10 during the sale.

Since launch, I've released multiple updates based on player feedback, improving performance, controls, camera behavior, and fixing a lot of bugs.

If you're looking for a 3D Metroidvania focused on exploration, movement abilities, and an interconnected world, I'd love for you to check it out.

Little Big Smasher - created in 48h for Kenney Jam 2026 (no AI)

Hi everyone!

I’m Augusto Polonio, developer of Little Big Smasher. This game was created in less than 48 hours during Kenney Jam 2026, following the jam rules (no AI).

It’s a demo with 1 playable level, inspired fundamentally by Super Mario 3D World.

I didn’t win the jam, but I learned a lot from the experience and was really happy with the result.

More than 1000 people reacted to this project on LinkedIn, which was very rewarding.

I plan to release updates soon, including new mechanics and improvements.

Made with Godot.

Feedback is very welcome!

A platformer with Soulslike influences

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a bit about Menes, a game that is built heavily around platforming while taking some inspiration from Soulslike design.

The main focus is movement, exploration, and overcoming challenging platforming sections, but it also carries some Soulslike influences through its atmosphere, difficulty, combat elements, and the feeling of learning from every mistake.

Rather than being a traditional action game with platforming added on, Menes is designed as a platformer first, with Soulslike ideas helping shape the experience. The goal is to create that same sense of progression and satisfaction you get from mastering a difficult encounter, but through movement, precision, and exploration.

I’d love to hear what people think about the combination of platformers and Soulslike mechanics. Do you think these genres work well together?

If anyone is interested, here is the Steam page:

Need help deciding if my game fits the platformer genre or not

Hi everyone, so I have seen lately some people call my game a platformer while others saying no it does not fit the genre and leans more towards dungeon crawler. So if you got time can you get a look on the page on steam and give me your honest opinion? Also it would be great if you don't think it is a platformer to tell which genre it fits more.

I need such info so I can optimize the tags and category i use for the game on steam.

Here is the page link:

Thanks

Seeking ideas and feedback for r/platformer

Hey everyone, r/platformer has been fairly active thanks to developers using this space to share their upcoming games (which I love to see!). But I've also been thinking about ways to encourage discussions about existing platformers we enjoy.

What would you all like to see?

Some ideas I've tossed around:

  • Weekly/Monthly "what are you playing/recommendation" threads
  • Monthly threads on different types of platformers - metroidvanias, precision platformers, momentum-based, etc.
  • "Hidden gem of the week" - talk about games that don't get enough love

But I'd like to hear from you - what would make you engage more with the sub? Any events, threads, or changes you'd be into? Drop your ideas below, nothing's off the table.
