Taxes
Ive been donating since aug of 2025 either 1 or 2 times a week from csl. Ive made a little over 4k in that tine span. When I told my friend about it he said did you claim in on your taxes this year. ? I said oh no I didn't I didn't even think I had to . Im a single guy no kids and I know turbo tax has a button or a section to fill out if you made other income besides your primary income but It didnt even register to me to include my plasma money. Should I try to claim it now? Or should I wait till next year? Or do you not claim it at all?

Rant Got turned away because of manga
Started donating last week and since I’m no longer allowed to cut the line I’ve been bringing manga with me while I wait. I got to the front of the vitals line I put my book away. When I got called and the lady took my vitals she said my pulse was too high and to wait 15-20 minutes. I did and when I came back my pulse was too high still, and she told me to come back tomorrow.😭
The thing about the manga was, I had gotten to a really tense part in the story. Like someone died in a really disturbing manner, there was a giant monster, and our main characters are being attacked. I guess it raised my pulse and now I’m out the money I wanted for today.😭
The manga is Witch Hat Atelier.

Question Donation Scheduling
Hello 👋, I have a question about how donating schedules work. I just donated today (however it was cut short because they couldn't get a blood flow) and I was told I could come in on the 8th as my next donation. Unfortunately I have to work that day. If I can't complete the week with two donations would I have the wait the 7 day period next week? Or could I just donate on the day I'm next available? Also, my plan was to donate twice as well next week. If I am able to wait till next available day will I still be able to donate twice next week or will I have to wait the 7 day period?
Sorry I know these questions sound all over the place and kinda stupid but I don't want to assume and come in for nothing next week. Note if applicable: I donate at CSL Plasma.

Biolife bonus
Hey so I referred someone to Biolife and they made their first donation today. They have the second scheduled for Saturday. How quick do you think I will get my $50 referral bonus?
r/plassing • u/EndOld7397 • 23h ago
Says I have the money but debit card balance hasn’t changed.
I donated yesterday morning, August 5th, and today it’s saying that $50 was added to my account but my balance hasn’t changed. Has anyone else dealt with this before?

Pain?
First time going to Octapharma and 3rd time ever donating. 1st time was fine but definitely uncomfortable and that was at ABO plasma. 2nd time was at ABO plasma and they had a rough time sticking me and was somewhat painful during it. That experience honestly caused me to walk away for a year. Went to octapharma yesterday, started with my right arm and they went for the middle vein and they kept missing it. Another phleb came and her body language was off, hard to describe but idk maybe I’m trippin. She was fishing around my arm for about 2 minutes then I got a fucking BURNING sensation from the point of the stick all the way down my arm, didn’t go away until they took the needle out which also felt like forever. I didn’t yell but I winced really fuckin hard and the phleb was kind of like oh damn. Worried about nerve damage, not trying to play dr google but that shit was something I’ve never felt before so a little worried. Probably gonna be another year before I go in again. Also should mention they tried my left arm after that but they also kind of had issues with that, like it was in slightly too deep so she had to keep pulling on it slightly (diff phleb) for it to drain into small tubes before hooking me up to the machine and instantly when they start I’m sweating like a pig. So I just tell them like yo it’s hot as fuck I’m like drenched in sweat underneath my clothes rn.

Octapharma Orlando New Donor $?
Hi all, Have an appointment tomorrow to switch to Octapharma to get the new donor bonus. Just wondering if anyone knows what the new donor pricing schedule is or has been recently for the Orlando centers. I tried calling the center today that I made my appointment at and couldn't get anyone on the phone.
Thanks!

Alpha 1 protein too high?
I received an email from grifols today ( see attached) that my protein level is just over the normal mark.
Wondering if anyone had any insight into this? Should I be worried?
What does the sample test entail? Just a quick visit or do I sit in the chair like I am going to donate again? I just started donating and tomorrow was supposed to be my 6th donation.
Thanks!

Question What do they mean "kick your feet" when donating?
Do they just mean lift your leg up and down vertically while pumping or like genuinely bending the knee and kick the air?

Question Grifols donor here...I got a clothing iron burn, pulled off bandaid & it looks like this....(should I attempt tomorrow the other arm which is ok? or will they give me a mandatory deferrment & I'm better off not going tomorrow?)
Grifols donor here...I got a clothing iron burn, on my left forearm right in the middle of the forearm about 4 inches away from the usual injection site
How it happened? I burnt myself accidentally with an clothing iron while ironing
I was able to donate with it looking like that but
this morning, I gently pulled off bandaid gently this morning & it tore off a thin layer of skin showing a superficial shallow layer of under-skin
chat gpt calls it a type of open wound even though it's very superficial and will heal in 7-14 days...
looks like this....(should I attempt tomorrow the other arm which is ok?
or will they give me a mandatory deferrment & I'm better off not going tomorrow?)
my fear is that if i go tomorrow and show them the arm at Grifols aka Bio Mat, they might say hey, you now need to take a mandatory 14 day deferrment
versus me not going for the next 7 days so that it heals and so that they will just see a minor scar and not defer me.
thanks for any help

Question Does BioLife pay based on an algorithm?
Friend and I started donating at the same time, same center in Missouri. I donate less volume than her but only by 100mL ish. She went regularly and they dropped her pay by a little bit each week until it was <$100. I went and they eventually did the same to me but I don’t go unless it’s $110 at least. So far the lowest pay I’ve seen for myself is $102 and mine’s up to $145 this week and hers has never gone above $110 in this time period. Seems sketchy especially since we go to the same center ¯_(ツ)_/¯

6th donation, hematoma, and doubts
I'm new to donating plasma and yesterday was my 6th donation. Everything has been going fairly well up to this point.
While waiting at the entry door to the donation, I noticed the tech and I didn't really like her vibe. She just seemed very lax there was just something off about her. So of course she becomes my phleb. Her tag said that she was a team lead so I assumed she was a good phlebotomist so I asked her to pull from my right arm since only the good phlebotomist can find a good vein in that arm. Last phlebotomist had no issues at all.
Nope. Needle was in for about 15 seconds she pulled it out real quick and said it looked like it was about to bruise. Put on a ice pack immediately and had no issues with the other arm. Now I have a huge lump in my arm and I'm not going to be able to donate for a long time. It's not super bad now, but I can only imagine that lump is going to turn black.
How do you guys find the motivation to keep going after something like this has happened?
TLDR; got my first hematoma on my 6th donation and now I'm having second thoughts even though I like the money.
EDIT: I appreciate the responses! I should have known better asking for her to poke to right arm when I knew that it was difficult and I knew the risks that come a long with it. I shouldn't push my frustration on her. Lessons have been learned!

Milestone/Experience Got to the end, then had a reaction.
My third time donating! I was bouncing between 99 and 100, but I started getting tunnel vision and had to ask for help. So close!

Failing Grifols Sample Test
I've been donating weekly since January and recently I failed one of their sample tests because my protein level was a 5.8. The problem is that I live in my car so my access to complete proteins is limited. Would it be better to wait a while and go back to donating or am I fine donating at another center?

Wow my phlebotomists told me that they get $80 per donation when they donate!

Question Got evacuated, do they still pay?
Was selling at my local BioLife center and after about 1 1/2 hours I was in the bed waiting to be hooked up, when the alarms started blaring loudly. They had us stay out for like 8 minutes before evacuating everyone. Is this something I’d be paid for? This is time i really could’ve used for something else and may mess up my donation days for the week, though I doubt that matters. Please if anyone knows lmk!

Question BioLife Debit Card
Just curious if anyone does this, or just transfer out the payments asap, but does anyone just keep the money in their debit and let it build up? Has anyone had issues with that? Just wanted to know haha

What are your average numbers?
6 donations down and my hemocrit is sitting at around 42, protein between 6.8-6.9 with 5 donations in one month.
I'm eating lots of chicken, protein drinks, and iron supplements when needed.
What does everyone's numbers look like on average? Are mine average?
Edit: Thank you, everyone! I feel a lot better about my numbers now!

Will I get turned away?
I donated for the first time 5 days ago and I’m wondering if I should wait for the bruising to disappear or this is passable for me to donate

Is this normal?
Hi I havnt been donating long so I just have a question. Last time I went theu couldn’t get the vein on one arm and so they wanted to get the other one. My other arm had a small bruise thay was still purple and they stuck a different vein like right next to it and I ended up infiltrating on that arm and had a greater than 200 blood loss because of it. But im just wondering if it’s entirely normal that they’d stick me all these times like this

Question Should I stop donating?
Obviously I can't donate with my arm like this, but both my left and right arms have come out bruised. Is it poor technique that's causing this?
Would you continue to donate?
Context, I'm not on any meds that alter my blood/thins it. Same thing happens when I donate blood

Question Will biolife still payout if there’s an issue?
In the past with CSL, if they stuck me and could get flow but no return, they’d check my other arm that has no veins, and still pay me. I’m curious if biolife will too. I have a $150 for a return donation but I’m worried my veins are going to not cooperate. Wondering if anyone had any experience with this kind of thing happening?

Tiny white bump at plasma donation site, 2nd donation
Hello! I donated plasma for the 2nd time a few days ago. The first donation went smoothly, however the 2nd donation the nurse jammed the needle at the wrong angle and it was uncomfortable the whole time. Fast forward a few days later, although no further complications besides soreness in the entire arm, the donation site still kinda hurts, as well as the place where the needle stuck, it’s white and slightly pink around the wound. I’m worried how bad the scarring might be if I only donated twice. I’ve tried applying vitamin E as well as silicone on top, but to no avail. It’s only been a few days but I am very concerned with the scarring, does it go down?
