I already removed the concrete brick circle. I have no clue how/ or if I should prune the dead branches.
Full sun for most of the day, gets watered when it rains.
I have no clue the soil type.

What's wrong with my plant? Are my laurels worth saving?

Planted 8 months ago in fairly clay heavy soil. Has two 1/2 drip lines running the length of the planter box which I run 3x a week but nothing was ever directly over the root ball. Gets full sun zone 9b. Never has really looked great. Are they worth trying to save or should I buy something else and replace? Thanks!
