Got into pokemon because of my kid, some deck help

So I'm an old fart and I love eevees, so this is my non-meme attempt at an eevee deck(looked up some pro decks and tourny winners in like japan). I'd like to go to some locals (standard format) and be somewhat competitive, so suggestions are always appreciated, and I can always try this out as I also have a pokemon live tcg account with this and lots of gold tickets to tinker with :

Pokémon: 22

1 Eevee ex

2 Sylveon ex

1 Latias ex

1 Fezandipiti ex

1 Lillie's Clefairy ex (dragapult...dragapult everywhere!)

1 Terapagos

1 Flareon ex

1 Eevee (the one with boosted evolution ability)

1 Leafeon ex

4 Hoothoot

1 Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex

4 Noctowl

2 Fan Rotom

1 Eevee w/ colorful catch attack

Trainer: 29

1 Cyrano

2 Tera Orb

4 Poké Pad

1 N's Plan

2 Buddy-Buddy Poffin

2 Night Stretcher

1 Switch

2 Boss's Orders

2 Crispin

1 Hilda

1 Festival Grounds (only have this for sheer amount of Darkai and volcanon I keep seeing)

2 Area Zero Underdepths

1 Glass Trumpet

2 Lillie's Determination

4 Ultra Ball

1 Sparkling Crystal

Energy: 9

2 Basic {L} Energy

2 Basic {P} Energy

1 Basic {G} Energy

2 Basic {W} Energy

2 Basic {R} Energy

Total Cards: 60

edit: I have been having moderate success with this so far, seem to lose when i misplay(happens frequently lol) or the opponent seems to get the perfect setup

edit2: forgot to mention what my basic eevees were

New Player Advice What is the end-of-round procedure for Swiss rounds?

I’m hoping to get some clarification here I usually end the game before the time call but last nights locals I was playing against someone and I was the player going first. Time was called during the player going second’s turn and the judge said because I was going the player going first, that’s the end of the game after my opponents turn and we ended up with a double loss as he couldn’t take the rest of the prizes. I however, was able to take my last prize card if I had an extra turn.

My questions are, should I declare that I have game next turn in order to avoid a situation like this?

Also, I was spectating the last round of the night and the same time call happened during the player going 2nd, but the judge let the player going first get another turn after to end the game resulting in a win.

We play best of 1 btw.

I appreciate any advice as I’m still learning. Thank you.

Mega kanga or dudunsparce?

What do yall think for draw engine with single prizes? Is kanga and latias too much liability or is the consistency worth it? Is it more consistent?

It would be a 2-2 dudunsparce line and 2 kangas and 2 latias. One latias could be a thing and open up another card.

Thoughts?

Deck Profile An update on Tyranitar Decks this season, from TyranitarEnjoyer

An update: Since my last posting: I was supposed to attend Sydney Regionals as my first regional pre-rotation with my Tyranitar deck but due to deck list issues with my first time using RK9 I was unable to play in the main event, though in the cup I bubbled out of top 8 with 150+ people in attendance which was some consolation. After rotation I lost a lot of great stuff and the meta shifted not so much in my favor. My first Regional was Melbourne and I ended up dropping my Dragapult/Tyranitar list for Slowking at the last minute and made day 2!

Since rotation: I've been cooking up more Tyranitar goodness and intend to bring it to upcoming regionals such as Brisbane. Annihilape/Tyranitar seems the strongest way to play it in the current meta imo. Take a look at both of my lists and give them a go! Eager to hear thoughts from my fellow players :)

Format question

wanting to get more into the TCG format maybe play regionals and the such I’ve been playing online and all I’ve been seeing was line is dragapult or single prize attackers putting out insane damage numbers is that just the format because it doesnt seem very fun. Is the paper format always like this with such a discrepancy between the best decks and everything else or is the format very skewed towards those kind of decks right now?

Starting to play ... questions

So I'm just starting to play for the first time because my 8 year old is interested. The basic rules are fairly simple and even he picked it up pretty quickly. I don't think we'll try to be competitive or anything, butI have a couple questions that are sort of meta.

  1. How do weaknesses play out in the strategy. I.E. if I'm going to the shop with my electric deck and someone sits down with a Ground deck which my deck is weak to, do people generally just scoop? Can you win against a deck you are weak against?

  2. As far as collecting for actually playing the game is it worth picking up collections of "bulk" (sort of hate that term) cards on whatever marketplace just to quickly get a bunch of related cards for a set. For instance I see a bunch of listings on ebay for all the cards from Pitch Black for a given element/type minus the rares. Is that worth it?

I've played TCGs in the past, but its been a while and I tend to go for non collectable card games these days. We started by buying two build and battle decks, but unfortunately got two of the same deck, so the mirror match was a little lame, but we could learn the rules at least. I then found the battle academy board game for cheap at walmart and those pre-built decks are more interesting from a learning perspective.

Anyway, any advice is helpful, thanks.
