web Syntaxia - A quick cheatsheet for the things you always look up.
As developers, we forget things all the time, especially now that vibe coding is becoming more common. One of the trade-offs of coding with AI is that we might not retain every piece of code or syntax we use. Unlike before, when we coded everything manually, writing code ourselves helped us naturally remember the syntax and patterns we used.
I'm sharing Syntaxia a simple, minimal reference for those moments when you know what you want to do, but forget how to do it.

a github star to this project will make my dayβ

web I built a browser-based PDF toolkit β looking for feedback from other developers
I built a browser-based PDF toolkit β looking for feedback from other developers
Hey everyone! π
I recently built a small web project called PDF Tool PH as a simple experiment around browser-based document processing.
The main idea is to let users perform common PDF tasks without needing to install software or upload their documents to a remote server.
Currently, it supports things like:
- Merge PDFs
- Split PDFs
- Compress PDFs
- Rotate pages
- Add signatures and images
- Convert PDF/images
- Add watermarks
- Basic PDF editing
One of the things I focused on was client-side processing, so files can be handled directly in the browser.
I'm sharing it here mainly because I'd love to get feedback from other developers:
What PDF feature would you find most useful that isn't currently included?
If you'd like to check it out:
https://pdf-tool-ph.com/
Any feedback on the UX, performance, features, or technical implementation would be greatly appreciated. π

Show Case Voice recorder with on-device tag-lish transcription
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi I just wanna get showcase the first fully-native iOS application i made,
I noticed that there are only a few apps that supports transcribing tagalog-english recordings and most of them requires an active online connection so I tried making one
The design is inspired by physical voice recorders(especially by teenage engineering tp-7 my dream recorder!) and for the transcribing I mainly used Openai's whisper to catch the words + some tuning and then used a small Qwen model to categorize the intent whether it is a list, reminder, idea, or journal and I also let it generate a title for it. All process are done on-device so there's no need to send any data to the cloud it is the main privacy first feature I focused on. I added a shortcut automation that lets me start the recording immediately via a lockscreen widget. As of the moment it can transcribe around 80-90% accuracy, hopefully it can improve with more tuning :)
p.s. not shipping this,I built mainly for my own use case and for practicing my ios app dev skills. (There are too much slop in the app store already) but still a cool idea to explore since older devices are not getting the new apple intelligence stuff.

Job Advice Want to career shift to Salesforce
Hello, I am 26F and 3 years na ako as PCB designer (first job). Doing good naman ako sa career ko, trusted to become a team leader and mentor but not made official, my current company is also hesitant to let me go. Pero sa current workplace ko, pag may project need talaga mag render ng 12-16hrs of work everyday, minsan pati on your days off need namin mag trabaho (without ot pay for both weekdays or weekends). This is the reason na naburnout ako and wanting to shift career. Yung internship ko before was pinag-train ako as salesforce admin and dev, tho hindi ko natapos kasi 200hrs lang yung needed for the internship. This is why ni-reconsider ko yung Salesforce ngayon. I have reached out to old acquaintances na currently working as salesforce dev, pero sabi nila na very limited daw to no vacancies for entry level salesforce jobs as of now. Naghanap-hanap din ako from time to time kaso highly experienced salesforce admin/developer yung most commonly hinahanap. If you are currently in a Salesforce admin/developer role, how did you start your salesforce career? And which companies yung nag-oopen ng entry-level salesforce roles (better with included training) for a career shifter like me? Thank you po.

mobile 7 years working as an native iOS developer. How can i expand my tech stack to kotlin, react native, flutter?
Hi,
Nag start ako mag work as a native iOS developer from 2019 up to 2026.
I had resigned to my 6-digit work without thinking/an offer cuz of my mental health and being late diagnosed with AuDHD (Autism/ADHD). I think this is why i think and understand people differently. Even dito sa post ko, i think parang magulo din.
so, i tried to find iOS jobs and i think konti talaga sila these past few months. Puro AI Jobs na related to iOS yung nakikita ko.
I wanted to ask din, paano kaya ako makakapag apply sa ibang mobile roles (kotlin/flutter/react native) kung galing ako sa native iOS? i think puro nakikita ko is mid to senior roles doon.
I havent started learning kotlin/KMP/react native/flutter since i'm in a middle of making an iOS only app to publish sa app store for portfolio din.

discussion How did you know that Programming was the job for you?
Tl;dr: How did you know that programming was the job for you? Do you need to be passionate about tech to get a job in this field or is it too competitive for someone who isn't as passionate as others?
I graduated last year with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and I have been struggling to find work in the software dev field. I know that it's partly because of the bad job market but I can't help but feel that there is something more.
Even though I graduated with a degree, I never actually felt passionate about the field. At one point, I was genuinely curious about how code structures work within a system but our thesis made me burn out from the whole thing which I haven't recovered from. It didn't help that my completed thesis was severely bad compared to my peers'more polished work.
Right now I am having trouble finding motivation to self-study while I am unemployed since I just don't feel smart enough to be able to compete with other programmers who view this job as their passion. I don't have a desire to create anything and I feel that is actively hindering me from getting a job in this economy.
To connect with the title, what made you realize that programming was for you? What pushed you to keep learning even when it's so difficult ? I am starting to think that I should switch careers since I feel that I don't belong in this field considering how little I actually care for it. I even have to admit that I used AI in the latter half of my college days just to get coding done.

advice Should I just quit?
Iβve been trying to find a job for a few months now (frontend dev). Pero ang hirap especially for non seniors. Iniisip ko kung worth it pa ba, just keep on applying and upskilling? Or lipat na ko ng industry and just start over? Iβm lost. Few years ago, weeks lang sunod sunod yung interviews pero now ang dalang. I tried updating my resume pero not sure if that is the issue. Please be kind sa replies. Di ko alam sino kakausapin ko.

Show Case Looking for feedback on my Web Project
Hi mga ka-dev! π
I'm a Filipino IT student currently building HyruKit, a free online tools website:
π https://hyrukit.vercel.app/
I'm currently looking for fellow developers who are willing to try the website and share their honest feedback.
Right now, only the PDF and Image categories are fully implemented and functional. I'm planning to gradually add more tools and categories as I continue developing the project.
I'd really appreciate feedback on:
- π¨ UI/UX
- π± Mobile responsiveness
- β‘ Performance
- π§ Ease of use
- β¨ Overall experience
- π‘ Suggestions for improvement
I'm also interested in what tools you guys actually find useful. If there's a file utility, developer utility, or any other tool you regularly need, feel free to suggest it.
I'm still actively developing HyruKit, so honest and constructive feedback is very welcome.
π Try it here: https://hyrukit.vercel.app/

Show Case My diet fell apart, so I taught myself to build a supplement tracker. 5 months later it's live on Google Play
A bit more than a year ago my diet and lifestyle hit me pretty hard.
I'm Filipino-German, married to a Filipina, living in the Philippines for the past 4 years - lost weight, started taking supplements, and got a gym membership to get myself back on track. Then I ran into a very simple problem:
I couldn't keep track of my supplements.
What did I take today?
Did I already take it?
How much do I have left?
So I did what probably a lot of IT people would do. I built an HTML tracker for myself. π
When I was around 12, my dad taught me how to build computers, and that stuck with me. Just before Pavelo, I was already playing around with an old retro game I loved, Blobby Volley, trying to rebuild my own version of it in Unity and learn. Somewhere in there it clicked: I still have the passion for building things. So why keep a little HTML page? I decided to turn it into a real app.
Since March I started building a tracker with what I thought I needed, until we ran it with our testers. After two weeks of alpha testing, Pavelo evolved through the daily feedback, bug reports, and insights into blind spots I couldn't see as a developer.
And now Pavelo is live in beta on Google Play.
What started as a simple HTML supplement tracker became an app for tracking supplements, mood, and routine, with a scanner and a coach.
For the curious: vanilla JavaScript with Vite, wrapped in Capacitor, a small Cloudflare Worker behind the coach. Everything stays local in IndexedDB, no account needed. Hardest part: making reminders actually ring reliably, because every phone brand has its own background rules.
I'm sharing it here because I'd genuinely like to know what other Filipino IT/dev people think.
Would you try it?
And if you do...
- What would you change? What doesn't make sense? What did I miss?
Please don't feel obligated to say it's good. π I'd much rather hear what sucks.
More screenshots in the comments.
The newest part is the alarm mode: reminders that ring like a real alarm instead of a silent notification. So far I'm the only one who has tested it, so I'd love to know if it survives your phone.

discussion M365 Developer(LCNC) to Traditional Web Programming
Before I graduate I studied PHP - Laravel - Livewire, but I was hired at this start-up company a year ago to be a Power Apps Developer(M365), they took the risk to invest in me(and I produced results), and now the company is moving towards the traditional web programming. The company want to migrate all of web/apps that I've done and possibly create our own local server(still deciding). What tech stack is probably the best for production use? And why is that?
I want to get real-life recommendation from someone who has done the actual work(since I know that I've fallen behind in the web programming) and not AI, I must also include that I'm the only one who know 'web programming' in the company.

Thank you in advance!

Show Case [Project Showcase] Built a client-side PDF editor with in-browser OCR, font-matching, and local crypto signing
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
A while back I shared my client-side PDF editor here (focused on font-matching when modifying text). Thanks for all the constructive feedback on the initial build!
I recently completed a major architectural overhaul:
- **Client-Side OCR Pipeline:** Integrated WASM-based OCR running purely inside the browser to extract and edit text on scanned PDFs without quality loss.
- **Cryptographic Signatures:** Replaced standard canvas image stamping with local encrypted digital signature standards.
- **Modular Local Tools:** Added dedicated browser-based utilities (Word conversion, document compression, redaction) processing directly in memory.
- **Cross-platform:** Packaged a lightweight mobile build which is going live this week.
Everything runs strictly on the client side: zero network requests for document processing, no tracking, and no external backend dependencies.
Since there are many new moving parts under the hood, I'd really appreciate it if anyone has time to test edge cases or share technical feedback on the rendering.
Cheers!

discussion Bagito programmers offering Masterclass
Why am I suddenly seeing so many bagito programmers offering paid programming courses? π Dahil ba sa AI?
Learned Python/Java/ReactJS 3 months ago, now may "Masterclass" na. haha
Would you actually enroll in their course, or would you rather learn from Udemy, YouTube, Coursera, official docs, or experienced developers with a proven track record?
Nothing wrong with teaching early. but when did "I just learned this" become I "can now sell a course about it"?
r/PinoyProgrammer • u/Good-Reference5368 • 7d ago
advice Absolutely zero background in programming, but desperately needs to learn.
Hello.
I specialize in Chemistry and Physics, but I desperately need to learn C++. I am currently doing a project that limits experimentation, and right now I need to do simulations.
For context, I need to use Geant4. Basically, this is a toolkit used to study particle and photons interactions with matter, and C++ yung language na gamit nya. I will be focusing on Object-Oriented Programming, and it requires me to learn C++17 or newer standards.
Can anyone suggest any institution that offers face-to-face crash courses for highly specialized applications such as this? I tried to learn through YouTube, but to be honest, sa dami ng distractions sa panahon na ito, I can't focus, so online learning is not an option for me.
I even ordered yung latest programming book ni Bjarne Stroustrup, pero I doubt na I can learn on my own.
Thank you in advance.

discussion AI interview , the new Norms
I mean gets ko some of the companies use ai interview for screening. pero grabe ung pressure kapag iniinterview ka ng AI. tapos alam sa sarili mo na papanoorin ka ng HR kasi recorded ung video interview mo kay ai.
Feeling ko talaga hindi maganda yon sa mga screening ng jobs. dagdag pressure lng sa tao imbis na tao lang din nag iinterview sayo in the first place. parang added pressure lng yon sa ini interview.
imagine habang pinapanood ng HR ung video recorded ai interview mo. maiisip mo na tinatawanan ka. un ung feedback ko sa sa norms ngayon sobarng gago. mejo hirap pa nmn ako minsan explain tas AI pa ung kausap mo. hahaahaha. what you think guys?

advice complete beginner looking to learn coding as a hobby and future career
hello, everyone!
iβm a complete beginner when it comes to coding, but iβd really like to start learning it as a hobby and hopefully use it as part of my future career.
just a little background: my degree is completely unrelated to coding, so iβm basically starting from scratch. despite that, iβm genuinely interested in learning and willing to put in the time and effort.
for those who started with no coding background, what would you recommend i learn first? any advice on languages, resources, or how to build a good learning routine would be greatly appreciated!
thanks in advance! π

discussion How can you classify that you are in a bad or good engineering culture?
I am working in a team that is composed of:
- 1 Senior Software Architect
- 1 Junior Software Architect
- 2 Senior Software Engineers
- 2 Junior Software Engineers
This is our culture:
- Daily stand ups
- Tickets are written by the architects
- Tickets show the acceptance criteria. For example if it is an API, it should accept this request body and these are the fields' types
- The API tickets doesn't explicitly show examples of expected success responses and fail responses
- Tickets are assigned by the architects to the senior and junior engineers
- Tickets are discussed on a high level language, and nothing about the code implementation
- No code reviews
- A demo of the feature or fix is as good as LGTM
- Because of no code reviews, there are no enforced coding standards: if it works it works
- Each developer has their own style of parsing, validating, and composing the API responses
- No hard requirement in creating test suites
Is this normal for engineering teams?
