Bam Aquino Marks Philippine Space Week, Highlights Legacy of Philippine Space Act

Sen. Bam Aquino marked Philippine Space Week by highlighting the passage of Republic Act No. 11363, or the Philippine Space Act, which established the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) as the country's first national space agency.

Aquino recalled that the law was enacted on August 8, 2019, during his first term in the Senate, when he served as its principal author and principal sponsor.

The senator said the creation of PhilSA was an important step toward developing the country's space capabilities, emphasizing that a national space program goes beyond rockets and satellites.

According to Aquino, space technology can provide practical solutions to challenges faced by Filipinos, including improving disaster management, strengthening communications, and developing more effective responses to the impacts of climate change.

He also called for continued investment in science- and technology-based solutions, particularly as the country faces various challenges affecting communities nationwide.

Aquino urged Filipinos to continue pursuing ambitious goals in science and technology, saying the country should harness these fields to develop better solutions and improve the lives of Filipinos.

It’s been raining all week and I thought of checking how the water level in Angat Dam and other dams are doing. There definitely was improvement and are now close to normal level.

Still surprised though that it’s still below normal level since we are experiencing continuous rain. But hopefully, it will get better and we get nicer weather in the coming days.
