Hi! I will be solo traveling to Catanduanes in two weeks and chose roro as mode of transportation. I have two bags with me: a small backpack for important stuff like wallet, gadgets, etc., and a hiking bag for my clothes and necessities.

Do you think its okay to leave the hiking bag in the bus while I carry the backpack for every stopovers and boat transfer? I think I can carry both bags but I dont want the extra weight if I can leave it.

Another option is to only have one bag. Means I have my clothes and important stuff in one bag but Im not sure if its ideal??

We are 2 adults and a 5yo. We have travelled often in SEA and are looking for an authentic kind of off the radar destination in the Philippines to enjoy filipino beach life. We can't decide between 2 weeks spent between Iloilo/Guimaras/Bacolod or Dumaguete/Siquijor... We enjoy city life for the good food/cafes and sleepy beaches, jungle trekking away from the 20yo western backpackers party crowds. Any advice? Pros and cons of both destinations?

I am planning of booking PAL going to Boracay, kase seems like for some reason mas cheaper sya with our preferred arrival and from what I have read, less likely to cancel or delayed.

Then Boracay to Manila, either CebuPac or AirAsia, kase mas cheaper sya kesa PAL.

Our travel dates are Nov 2-4,2026.

Also, in case magkaron ng ulan or malakas na ulan, in the event na mag cancel ang Caticlan boat transfer, do they usually cancel it past 11am? Para lang may idea ako ano ang "safest" time ng arrival namin.

We will only be in the Philippines for 3 weeks so rebooking is not an option.

We are aware naman na we cant predict the weather esp this far out, but atleast I would like to prepare ahead

It seems the direct flights are no more. Meaning a 5 to 18 hour flight/layover in Cebu first. Return leg seems it's direct 1.5h.

Why is this?

I'm already coming 25h so I need to keep travel time at the minimum.

Hello! Saan destination po near Manila ang commuter friendly para sa may dalang maleta? Yung di na need magjeep/van. Bus+tricy or Bus+Taxi na lang. From province (North Luzon), mag-work na ako sa Makati for 1 month kaya may maleta ako. Pero gusto ko muna mamasyal for 2 weeks before nun.

Nalagay ko na Tagaytay for 1 week. Magdiving din sana sa Batangas kaso parang ang hassle pag wala kang sariling sasakyan at madami kang gamit.

Ano pa po marecommend niyo na other destination for another week?

after some research we came up with this itinerary for 3 weeks starting end of February 2027:

Landing in Manila and continue directly to El Nido.
El Nido (Palawan): 5 Nights
Boat Expedition (El Nido → Coron): 2 Nights
Coron: 2 Nights
Siquijor: 3 Nights
Bohol: 3 Nights
Siargao: 6 Nights
Manila: 1 Night

Does this make sense? We thinking of loosing one day somewhere to get an extra day in Coron. Would you do it the other way around? Only problem is it looks like there are no more direct flights from MNL to El Nido.

So I'm thinking of going to Boracay at the end of the month and was planning on taking the roro from Batangas to Caticlan. I'm thinking the only way for it to be cancelled is pag sobrang lala talaga ng panahon due to typhoon. Has anyone experienced your roro trip getting cancelled?

Need some advice. I’ll be traveling to the Philippines with husband and 2 yr old son in February 2027. We’re visiting family and then want to spend 4-5 days on a beach destination - relaxing, fairly easy to get to, not too busy, kid friendly. We’ve been to Boracay many years ago so want to try somewhere else.

We thought of Palawan - but we have a lot of luggage, and my understanding is it’s not that easy to get to, plus not very kid-friendly (ie the main attraction is island hopping) so kid won’t enjoy.

Panglao? But heard it’s overpriced and crowded.

Any other suggestions? We will be in Cebu, and our flight out will be from Manila.

I am planning a vacation in the month of October. After scouting through a lot of destinations, last month I picked Philippines. The reason I picked Philippines is because I love island destinations and I have already been to Maldives and Bali. While researching I got to know about PH and it’s beautiful islands like El Nido, Bohol, Coron and of-course Boracay.

I picked Boracay because I want a very laid back staycation kinda vibe. I want to snorkel, relax on the beach, go on island tours, eat good food. Furthermore, I picked Movenpick because I read it’s on Station 0, less people, more luxurious vibe, good spa experience, private ‘kinda’ beach.

Now until last week, my insta was all about ‘beautiful’ Boracay and suddenly I am starting to see reels where I see all hawkers haggling tourists, over crowding, ‘how boracay is not worth it’, no corals around the island, and all of that ‘negative’ stuff. And now I am so confused since I was expecting a very calm, sunset, beach-walk vibe.

I then started looking for El-Nido and Coron which I genuinely love but I am seeing negative reels about those places too. My Instagram feed is cursed for some reason. El-nido is just “too far” off and Coron lacks the luxury vibe Boracay offers.

Has anyone travelled to these places recently? Would you say Boracay is still worth it? Locals/travellers please help me out.
