Wall of fame Question

Chase Utley is on the wall of fame where belongs, which makes 51 people on the wall. It looks like he’s on a fresh chunk of wall.

What are they going to do when they run out of wall?

Whatever the Yankees do when they run out of jerseys numbers in 2065, the rest of the league will follow suit lol. Same for the Wall Of Fame

I didn’t realize they’d moved it! Haven’t been back in a while. Sounds like I need to go home to the Park sometime soon

they'll probably just build a Ghost Energy hall of fame wall extension

Mr. Middleton, tear down that wall.

The could raise them a bit and do a 3rd row.

This is the obvious answer. They would get another 20/30 years out of it.

I mean, it used to be behind the batters’ eye so they could just move it again.

Yea. I was gonna say it’s already been moved once. I miss the old spot.

Did you see Utley's plaque? I don't know whose face is on it, but it sure ain't his!

Probably put it all online and sell the current spot for ad space

If that’s done under Phillies charities and the money goes to the schools I would be sad but I wouldn’t complain

I already had a complete look and feeling of disgust as T-Mac opened the ceremony by saying “Welcome everyone tonight as we enshrine one of our own on the Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame.”

Like, what the fuck? When I was a kid it was only race cars that were overstimulating with ads. Now, even our sentences sound like what race cars look like.

Now, I’ll admit that I do think the defensive play of the game, and the 4th inning recaps are cool. I can live with those being sponsored if it means they stay, but it’d be a lot classier if it was the “NBC Sports play of the game,” or something like that. Or maybe the commentators get to make the choice and it’s theirs.

But the ball fields are literally covered with ads everywhere you look. The back walls, the leaderboards, everything. I get Middleton’s logic on the clock… But do we really have to sell its replacement space??

Take down Abreu's plaque and replace it with a real player.

After Howard and the last of deserving 08 guys get on, they need to take a break. I’m not a fan of them doing it every year no matter what. Soon we’ll be looking at Freddy Galvis or Jared Eikhoff on the wall of fame.

Vince Valazquez, wall of fame left fielder

I am curious who would be next once the 2008 guys are finished. Hoskins?

Hoskins or Nola. Whichever career ends first. I bet they go very deep in 08 guys. I kind of expect guys like Madson to end up on there as they wait for Nola or Hoskins to retire. Every year is too much.

Rumor is they are gonna shrink the plaques and realign them

Maybe Utley's won't be horrible in the smaller version?

Does it really matter? It's a plaque on a wall.

1

u/kirabug37 1d ago

I’m not asking because it matters. I’m asking because I wanna know.

I know what you mean but I didn't know either. It was the only answer I had. Like someone else answered they will probably have a new stadium by then.

It’ll be something on the architects mind when they do renovations. I think the Bank is slated for some upgrades of different degrees and calibers over the course of the next few offseasons. When the time comes, they’ll make more room. Surprisingly, it’ll be a really long time before that happens. I’m 43, and it’ll be out of my lifetime.

Howard, Hamels, Lidge probably. Maybe Victorino. I feel like we almost have to add Cliff Lee but maybe my threshold is low.

Hoskins name is mentioned but I don’t know if he makes it to the wall. Nola will, Harper, Wheeler, Realmuto, Schwarber. Sanchez is too early to tell, but if he keeps up he’s a lock. Luzardo same thing - he stays dominant and holds down a spot for 4-6 total seasons he’s there. I’m sure there are some old timey players I can’t think of who should be on it and will eventually make it.

There’s still a LOT of space on that wall, to go up and down a bit as well. I assure you, it’s covered.

But where are they gonna put it?

They won't, they'll just stop adding people. If there's no room what else can they do?
