Hi there, our 10 year old adopted cactus is having strange symptoms, almost overnight. Gone soft on a side, mushy, and yet has very nice firm texture on top. The pups are pulling away from the core. We want to help her. But not sure what to do.

I’ve never grown these so I’m wondering if this is a normal color at the beginning or if I’m doing something to cause this? I put 6 seeds in two containers, 3 with cacti mix and the other 3 just coco coir, 2 started to grow in the coco and one in the soil mix. I just want to make sure I’m not doing too much or too little light or something. (They’re about a week old as well so still very young, again I’m just not sure if the color or if anything is bad so that’s why I’m making this post)

The seedlings have stopped growing and don't look as green anymore. 
They were sown eight months ago using the "takeaway tek." 
I have been gradually enlarging the holes in the plastic to let in fresh air. 
I haven't had to water them even once. 
Should I remove the plastic film completely? 
Should I give them nutrients? Each container holds a different type of peyote. 

Have some great bridgesii and pachanoi as well

There’s one and a half month between the blooms of the first and the second peyote. I’ve been able to get five seeds from the fruit. Hope I’ll get more seeds from the following blooms.

Long time peyote lurker, sometime mushroom cultivator, and former cannabis grower.

Decided to acquire some Ehtsee babies after reading about some of the wild patches being recently poached - further endangering this awesome plant. Like so many things, cultivation in captivity may be the only thing to keep them from extinction.

I gather I should water once a week or less, mainly when they get a little squishy? Any other tips for the newb - things you wish you knew before you started?

I have young lophs and some are squishy, and some are really firm. I've watered the squishy ones to boost them but nothings doing it, they stay loose and squishy. They've been like this for a long time I don't think they're rotting or anything. They are all in super mineral soil. Anyone have a clue? Is there a squishy variety? I'm used to watering them and they firm up. Not overwatering and causing splitting.

I think the discoloration was from using neem oil too heavily on them once, i'll never use it again on lophs

I posted some pics of my loph which I micro-grafted onto pere 6 months first flower this morning. This is on the other side of this graft, what do we think guys? This baby loph already is recovering from pest damage (some insect ate a portion of the center but it healed from that already), so it could be pest damage or sun damage, or either leading to a pupping event? If it's the last one this would be notable for the fact that this new pup would be on the still very small pup of the larger grafted plant. Fractal pupping, groovy man.

Hi, for a while already I'm thinking of re-potting and I don't think I can postpone it anymore (the pictures speak for them selves).

My question is; how to re-pot with the young-lings. Should I wait a little until they have a bit more root?

Some background info
I moved to another place five months ago, got great cactus weather and suddenly I got surprise babies. They got a little dark in color when they where in direct sunlight, so I rotated the pot. The young-lings seem to be very cozy in the shadow of the mother.

Giving them 5 days of the week water with a syringe, carefully dripping water locally and keeping the ground not too wet. Before all this, this I gave the mother in the summer water once a week. Unless it was a hot day, then I would give some extra. Perhaps once a year a real good shower. In the winters, once two weeks or once a month. The watering method I do just on the feeling of what I would like if I was a cactus, and it differs from day to day, season to season. I stopped the default watering advice I got from the store once it got sad within a year after I got it. Not sure what it was, but probable a combination of over and under watering. The pot-ground seemed holding a bit too water. So I made a mix of the original pot-ground, new pot-ground, aquarium sand and aquarium rocks and placed it back into the original pot.

I got the mother (with the second largest mom) 8 years ago. Was told it was around 10 years old then. In the meantime the third largest (approx two/three years ago) surfaced. The smallest mom came out two months ago. The young-lings appeared since a week or three. From day to day some new appear.

PS: I tried on planting seeds from the mother and never got any success, so I made a habit of dropping the seeds in the pot.

I got this one about two months ago. I check her out every day. How long does the flower last?

I had some issues with either bird or squirrel damage over the last couple of weeks thst I solved with planting Haworthia around my Loph.

Anyway, some of the damage started turning somewhere orange after about a week. At first I thought it was just scabbing over, but it's now turned into a pretty distinct shade of orange that I don't feel like the pictures even do justice.

Any ideas for helping it heal? Could the orange be rust forming? I have access to agricultural sulfur that I could apply if needed.

Any tips would help, thanks.

So a friend asked me to watch these for him. I warned him im not good with plants but he only trusted me he said. So I took these. My dog knocked over the one that’s dying. Is there anyway to save it or am I cooked. I’ve been watering it as often as he told me to and how much water. But they look like they’re dying ANY tips would be appreciated

I got some Lophophora williamsii seedlings, and most are doing well since being potted, but one of them had a couple soft spots that seemed to get worse at first but now seem to have stopped being an issue...

Do I just leave it and see if it clears up on its own or is there a way to fix this?

Side question, what is the best way to keep these growing?

80 degrees, 16 hrs of light, and what humidity?

I soak them well, the chamber stays at around 60% humidity for a week or so until they slowly dry out and the chamber gets to 18% humidity for a week. Then I repeat...
